ha. here's a newbie starting the daily thread.
i am usually up in the wee hour and just post (only a few occasions) in the thread from the day before. I'm being bold and starting the new one today.
you might see me starting them on a fairly regular basis since i wake around 4:15am to go to the gym during the week.
this week I'm on vacation (school teacher). I've been going to the gym a tad bit later--but before the husband has to go to work. today, I'm thinking i might go back to bed for another hour or so of sleep and just bring the kid (Lydia) to the gym with me. in the past she hasn't had success in the playroom but she's a bit older now so i want to try it again. I'm praying she'll like it and play so that can mean i can "sleep in" for future vacation days instead of getting up early to get the gym time in. it will also be nicer for the weekends so i can go even if my husband decides to go fishing or something. I'm pretty weak on getting my weekend workouts in consistently.
I've never had trouble with exercise. in fact, i love it. my problem was always the food so i decided to join WW the day before Thanksgiving. it seems to be doing the trick with my weight loss.
and i apologize for not getting the day right in the daily chat. i changed the date and forgot to change the day...perhaps if a moderator pops in, they can change it to read Friday, instead of Thursday?
welcome carrie...wish i could get up that early. Oh well some of us arent morning ppl LOL. good luck on the WW.

morning all..nothing really exciting..got my bag packed for the gym...i'm bound and determined to go to the gym right after work...no if's an's or butts'....alright...time to go to work..hoefully it wont be too bad...its raining bad here today so i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people stay home. But its good...we really need the rain here.
Sounds like everyone is doing great...Welcome Carrie. I usually get up at 5 am to work out, hurt my ankle about 10 days ago, so haven't gotten back to it yet. I actually slept until 8am yesterday and today, which is UNHEARD OF for me. Gonna start back to workouts sometime this weekend or next week...
I weighed myself today...up three pounds since the beginning of Nov., not as bad as I thought. I always gain a few this time of year. It's okay, cause I always get back on track, and I'm really glad it's not as much as I was expecting (I've REALLY been eating poorly, did well yesterday, though).
Soooo, I really like the idea of logging exercise, as well as food. I don't usually have a problem working out, it's the eating that gets me...Lauren, are you going to set it up?
Patricia, I love that your family gave you money for your trainer...that's so cool! I know how much you love it.
Alicia, still painting, huh?? You are one determined girl. Be sure to post pics when you're done, I would love to see your progress.
Roo, I also like the idea of donating, esp. choosing a different charity every year...very cool.

So, does anyone have any New Years plans??? Most likely we are going to get some Chinese food, maybe crab legs, and lay low. We haven't done anything big for about 5 years, sometimes have a few people over, but even then it's very low key. I kind of like it that way, cause we are usually running from the beginning of December!!!
Got a mountain of laundry to do, goona put some decorations away, and get my hair trimmed. DD is getting her hair cut to shoulder length today, about 8 inches off...she's so looking forward to it. It grows so fast, it'll probably be back to her waist by the summer.

Everyone sounds very busy.
It appears we got 7 or 8 inches of snow yesterday. The good thing about living in a condo is they came in and cleared a lot of it already. All we have to do is shovel a short walk and beside our cars. Which will be doing because husband and I are not really homebodies. We did get a lot done through.
Lauren, congrats on the job. That's funny cause I was just thinking...couldn't remember if you were a temp where you are or not. BTW, I shove my comforters invthere anyways, whether they fit or not, LOL.

Pam, I'm still painting the same room. I should be done today. With Christmas and the kids home it's taken me longer than expected. Spilled half can of paint on the floor last night. I don't know which room I'll do next. Have to get more paint samples and try them out. Not sure about New Year's yet. We usually stay home with the kids and all.

I have not been feeling well at all, I have been in lots of pain, I am staying still, I hate not doing much, but that is the way it has to be right now, I wish I could do other things other than just lay down, even sitting by the computer is very uncofortable.

Jasmine, That's one nice thing about living in a condo, no physical grounds maintenance! My DH bought a snow thrower last year to do the driveway...what a great tool!
Pam, yeah, I'll set it up. Was thinking that now that we do a daily thread, we'll have to figure it differently, but I'll figure it out. No plans for NYE here. We invited a friend of DH's and his 2 boys over - he's going through a very nasty divorce right now. But he bowed out and is going to his parent's house. I also invited my friend and her DH and 3 kids, but I haven't gotten an answer yet, and am thinking it's a no. Told another single friend to pop in if she wants, but I doubt she's show. So I guess it'll just be us...probably asleep by 12:05, if we even last that long!
I think what we'll do is this: You all keep track of any exercise you do all week. Like I said, each mile counts, or 20 minutes of exercise = 1 mile. So if you walk a mile, plus do an hour video or something, you would count 4 miles. Got it? It's not a true compitition, but we can use it as a motivational tool. Each week, you guys will post your totals and I'll post the totals for the week in a new thread. So let's start keeping track as of 12/31 - we'll go Monday to Sunday...sound like a plan?
If you want to post your food journal, that's great too! Feel free to start a new thread within 30 Something's (just title it the same way as the daily chat, for instance: "30 Somethings Daily Food Journals: Jan. 1st", or something like that!

Alicia..that sucks about spilling the paint, I know it's not cheap!! Also, I'm having trouble getting anything done with the kids home. They have so much stuff from Christmas, every time I try to get a room cleaned, they have another one with stuff all over it!! Can't wait till next Wed!!!
Lisa, have fun at the mall. Went to NY & Co. at the shopping center they just built two months ago...got 2 pr of yoga-type pants, a longsleeve tee, a cute v-neck sweater, two pr of earrings, and a red croco bag for 47.00!!!!! Some unbelievable sales going on. Probably gonna hit Bath & Body Works to get some lotions, etc. for birthdays coming up. I love post-holiday sales. Cadence's birthday is in March, so I usually get her birthday presents in January, when all the toys are on clearance at Target...and her pinata is always filled with Valentine's candy (I'm such a clearance shopper!!)
Lauren, sounds like a plan for the exercise miles. BTW...FIL got a new snow blower, so we got his (perfectly good) one last year...love it!!!! WE have an extra-long driveway, and have a corner lot with a long sidewalk, so it is awesome to have, no more breaking our backs shoveling!!!
Lauren, think I'm confused...Would we log our "miles" each day on the thread, or just wait and post once a week?

Oh, my son just reminded me a neighbor invited us to dinner for New Years. Not quite sure though. He is a single man in his 60's. I call his house "the mansion". It really isn't, but it's real nice, I would be afraid of the kids acting up.....
Alicia, Threaten them. Just kidding. I actually do not take my kids out to eat unless it's fast food with a "play place" or Fuddruckers, which has a play place. It's just not worth the stress!
As far as the miles, I think it would be easier, at least on my end, to keep track yourselves, then post your total on Saturday, and I'll compile it all for Sunday's post. Or for the people that only have access from work, they can post totals on Friday, or first thing Monday AM. We can also post weight loss/gains.
