Working out and NOTHING!!!!!
Ok. So I am doing weigth watchers. I have been working out monday through friday and I lost about 5 pounds since i started working out a month ago. And I havent lost anymore. In fact I gained 3 pounds. I am getting irritated and upset and it is making me not want to do it anymore. Like I was not even motivated to go workout today. I need some encouraging words cause I know that I just need to keep doing it and I will get over this hump.
Thanks. |
Hi Dek. Sorry you're having a rough time. When did yo start WW? If you just started, maybe you need to give yourself a week of exercise AND diet to see a bigger change? Take a look at what you're eating too...maybe there's something in there prohibiting a loss...like too much salt, or something??

Hey LBH. Thanks. I have been actually doing Weight Watchers since January but I just really got serious with eating and counting points and working out over the last 6 weeks. I have been thinking about it and I think that I might be eating to many carbs. I think that I need to get more protein and fruits and veggies in. Hopefully that will help. And one of my friends asked me if I was losing inches and I am so I guess that working out is doing something. I just need to be patient and stick to it. :carrot:

You are probably losing fat and building muscle (muscle weighs more.) If you are losing inches I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh, my dear Dek6! PLEASE don't be discouraged. This first month under your belt shows that you can do something that you have to do for the rest of your life. You have to give yourself at least 6 months before you make a transformation that will make you excited. I worked out for a year, 3-4 times a week, without really noticing much. I was not dieting much, and just building up a cardiovascular and psychological foundation. Forming the habit, and getting used to all the equipment. Sometimes I would just have a sauna. Results can aways be varied by diet and intensity, but take it easy on yourself! Remember that this is something you are going to be doing for the rest of your life, and your body will be constantly adjusting, losing, maintaining, and recalibrating. This first month is a mere drop in the bucket. So take a more laid-back approach to it and embrace it as your proper lifestyle, not something you have to feverishly do for a short period of time.;)

Dek, that's great!! Duh, if I exercised more often, I would've thought to ask you if you'd measured yourself lately!

Hi Dek! Don't fret gorgeous!! These changes take a long time if they are going to last. It took a lot longer than a month for me notice a change in my clothing size. More like 6. (Okay I'm slower than most.) :)
And these gals are right. It's a lifestyle now, so if you don't want to workout - dont! Go and find something active and healthy and above all enjoyable that you can do instead. And remember this is just one day. You can make it as positive as you want. good luck! Tam |
okay....my first thought was...Have you actually measured yourself?? Did you measure yourself before you started working out? If not...get out that tape measure. Get you a book you can record every inch. And don't just measure your waist in one place, measure it in 3 places, measure your hips, measure your thighs, measure your calves, measure your upper arms, even measure your neck!!! You'd be surprized at how those 1/4 of an inch can add up. I have many measurement opportunities. Some weeks, I will have a large number of inches. You have to realize...and I read this someone on here too...that when we lose weight, we loose in in sheets. Think of a roll of paper towels. When you use one sheet, or two sheets or 10 sheets, it doesn't make the paper towel roll look much thinner, but when you take away 20 sheets and 30 sheets and 40 sheets, well now....you can see a difference. And if you are replacing fat with muscle, you will weigh the same but you will be toning up and getting slimmer. So my advice...keep at it. Keep doing your weight watchers, keep excersizing and keep using that tape measure. I know how bad we all want to see the number go down on the scale, but i think i do get more excited when i see an inch gone from my waist and thighs. Don't give up. You can do this!!!
