how long does it take you to loose your period weight?
So I'm technically supposed to weigh for my weekly and also my first official monthly weigh in tomorrow- but I'm smack dab in the middle of my menstrual cycle- and I' know I'm bloated and have probably gained a few lbs- I don't want to be discouraged by seeing the scale go up.. should I just weigh in anyways or should I wait a day or two after it's over?
There's no hard or fast rule, but I just weigh, too.
If you're going to do this long term, I believe you're going to have to get used to your body's fluctuations at some point. Weight loss is NOT linear. Some weeks you'll do everything right, but won't see it on the scale -- maybe it's water retention, who knows? Other weeks you won't have been so good, but the scale might go down! (Maybe from that water retention from the week before!)
So, you have to expect fluctuations. You're trying to measure fat loss, but that darned scale weighs all of you, so it gets complicated!
If weighing every day doesn't work for you for a variety of reasons, then nevermind this advice - but weighing every day was the only way I learned what my weight does during TOM. Unfortunately, what I learned is it varies a lot . But it is fairly consistently up about 2-3 pounds on around day 4 or 5.
I find that when I weigh during my TOM or even before, I get obsessive about the numbers blinking back at me.
Last month I gave up when it said I weighed 289 and low and behold, two days after my TOM it went down to 280. This month I'm showing a 4 pound increase thus far and I have YET to start. *kicks her body* GOOOOOOO! lol
I agree though that weighing every day for awhile did teach me about my body and water weight. I mean some months I'm 4-5 pounds more and others I can be a whopping 7-9 pounds more. It just depends...I'm very fussy, apparently, in that regard lol.
I actually hold more weight during the week before TOM, and start to lose it during TOM, even if I'm feeling all bloated and stuff. Then, by the week after, I have usually lost the amount of weight for those 3 weeks that is normal for me- which usually means
I lose 0 the week before
I lose 1 the week of, maybe 2
and I lose 4-5 the week after.
Such a weird, weird cycle. I only have one normal week a month! Being a woman definately has disadvantages.
I wait until 2-3 days after the last day. I find that is more accurate. It gives me a couple days to flush out with water too. I just don't like that psychological disappointment by seeing a higher number. But it is really up to you!
I waited the day after and I had only lost a few ounces but at least it was loss and not gain! and who knows maybe in a nother day or so it will show that I've had some real loss!
