I'm at work and one of my co-workers brought in a homemade cake... it's right in front of me on the communal work area... I see it's delicious butter frosting... I can see its cannoli and chocolate chip filling... there are plates set out, beckoning me to fill one of them with a slab of cake...
But I'm not going to have any... I'm going to move it so it isn't staring me in the face... and I'm not going to have any. I'm resolved.
Don't give in! Like Faerie says - you get stronger with every no. Pass on this one and it won't be long before that sickly sweet filling and frosting makes you wrinkle your nose with disdain.
Will powers amazing at making you feel good. I visited friends on Saturady and everybody sat round eating apple pie I refused and felt really good about myself for being able to do so
Keep up the good work don't let other sabotage it!!!
Yikes, I'm picturing this cake, and it sounds like a big delicious monster! I'm feeling very lucky that it's probably far, far away from me, because I know I'd be tempted, too. I'm sure we've all said more than our share of "no"s, so I know how hard that can be! WTG!
Ahhh, thank you all for your encouragement! I still haven't touched it... but I almost did... but then I remembered this thread and my public vow not to have any, and i stayed away.
You know, every time I give in, I realize how it never tastes as good as I thought it would when I was struggling.
As a matter of fact...
I'll bet your co-worker accidentally used salt in the icing, and way too much baking soda. Yuck. Disgusting.
It sounds silly, but picture something gross about it. Picture worms crawling through the center or spiders. Anything that might gross you out. It always worked for me as a kid. If I saw a funny spice that looked like a spider leg on my pizza, I couldn't finish it -- no matter how delicious it looked.
Beware the spider cake!
There are a million cakes, but there's just one you and YOU and your goals are WAY more important.
willpower is fantastic....
you can do it....
just imagine, taking that slab of cake and sticking it to your body....
that what it will do ultimately if u eat it....
I had some string cheese about a half an hour ago... 80 calories of cheesiness. It wasn't as good as cake would have been... but it was SOMETHING anyway.
I've moved the cake away from me... I can no longer see it from my desk.
