I've always been bothered by the width of my feet too. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the weight-issue but I have always thought it did. I'm a size 8 in UK sizes (not sure what it is in a US size) but I always have to find shoes that are a size or two bigger because my feet are a little wide. It is so difficult to find a decent pair of footwear (especially those categorised as stylished and cute). What makes it worse is that I live in South East Asia where people have smaller feet and the shoe market caters towards smaller sizes. Ahhh it's like shopping for clothes 4 years ago, nothing nice fits except the dull looking t-shirts.
I'm a size 12 which sucks cause my feet are wide, but I can usually get away with normal width. However, they pretty much stop making shoes at size 11 now. So sad.
I'm a size 8 US but like many of you I buy this size because it fits the width of my foot. I actually think I'm like a 7 if I didn't have to buy my shoes wide to fit me. But I can already tell that I have to tighten up my tennis shoe so hopefully I will be in those 7s
I'm a size 9 US, 10 if I wear my beloved Etnies. I'm also a wide, but thankfully shoe sizes over here come in normal and wide choices, also. I was a size 8 when I was 135 lbs and 16 years old. Not sure if they got bigger because I got older, or because I got fatter.
My mom, also overweight, always wore a size 8 shoe. Then she went to an expensive shoe seller and was fitted for shoes. Turns out she was really a size 7. She told me that her feet have never felt better since she started wearing her right size. haha
I'm a US 4 1/2 or 5. My feet are pretty wide, especially the left one because I have an extra metatarsal. It is a pain to find shoes but a lot of people comment on me having cute feet, so I'm not complaining!
My feet suck I wear a 10 wide, which can be hard to come by in styles I actually like (and often, a 10W still isn't wide enough, which is usually the case for dressy shoes in particular). When I was in college, I got down to about 265, and I was able to wear most regular size 9.5s, so I do believe my feet will shrink a bit as the rest of me does. I also used to work at Payless, so I had TONS of shoes, whereas now that nothing fits me, I only wear the same few pairs over and over.
In addition, my big toenails grow slightly at an upward angle, so oftentimes, my big toenail hits the top of the inside of the shoe, which is painful. I keep my toenails cut as short as possible, but I also have a bad history of ingrown toenails, and cutting the nails too low can cause them to recur. What a pain...literally.
Ok, I'm a 10, but I think only because I have Super Wide feet. I swear your weight has something to do with your shoe size, because before I gained all the weight I was like an 8 1/2. I'm hoping to eventually be able to fit into shoes without squeezing my fat tootsies into them. I think we all have hope of fitting into smaller shoe sizes when we hit goal.
I wear an 7 wide in the US. I have always had wide feet since I was a kid and before I gained weight. My dad has super wide feet as well, I think some of it might be hereditary.

Yupyup...think about it: the more you weigh, the more pressure you have pushing down on your feet, therefore basically squishing them down (which in turn flattens/spreads them out). You could also actually lose weight from your feet--how many people have lost weight from their hands/wrists (needed smaller rings/watches--I know it's happened to me, so why should feet be any different?)?
When I lost 20 pounds a couple of years ago, my feet did get narrower -- with only 20 pounds. I usually wear a 9.5-10 due to width like most of you, but when I got down to 180lbs I was looking at regular size 9s!
