Do anyof you take supplements, multi vitamins, or digestive enzymes?? MY doc has suggested that I start taking digestive enzymes. Not sure exactly what they do...obviously something with the digestive tract... LOL! Any suggestions???

A friend of mine started taking digestive enzymes because she always felt sick after eating and thought it was a digestion problem. They really helped her. She also mentioned that they make you *very* regular, so be prepared for that.

I took a multivitamin for a while on the advice of a dietician, but I just stopped because I can't be bothered. It bothers me to be taking a "pill" every day even though I know it's not really the same thing as medecine. Plus, they smell bad. I've heard that some people who take multis actually get a lot more vitamins than they need and this can be bad for you... I know some people take children's vitamins for this reason. Anyway, as you can see I don't know much about this so I'll leave it at that

I take a flintstones vitamin every day, for some reason they are easier to remember and they taste yummy too, also, lower dose of vitamins so you dont get the 1000% of vitamin C kind of issues, I LOVE UM!!!

ohh, and you can buy genaric versions (target) and they're pretty cheap

I take calcium every day because I think milk is disgusting so I never drink it, and I take a B-complex because most women are deficient in this (birth control, coffee, alcohol, along with a million other things all deplete your body's natural B-vitamins), and I take Vitamin D, as well, b/c my mom has Multiple Sclerosis and Vit. D has been shown to decrease the chances of getting it. I don't take multis, partly because they smell nasty and they're too big, but also because I think I get lots of vitamins from my diet.
I have acidophilis in the fridge for digestive problems, but almost never take it.

I take a multi and CLA. My boss at the gym I work at is WAY into the digestive enzyme thing and he totally swears by them and recommends them and sells them to all the clients we have. I think they sound like a great idea, I've just been skeptical of whether they work or not. But if your doc is prescribing them I am sure that they actually do help!

Thanks for all the responses! I'm not a big fan of multi-vitamins, because they are like "Horse pills" in my opinion, and I did take them but one got stuck in my throat and that was the end of taking those! Maybe I'll try a kids one, just to help out with things.

The doc suggested I take Digestive Enzymes because he doesn't think that my body is digesting my food properly (I get bloated and feel sick after eating alot of times). It's not breaking it down enough to use it. I went out today and bought some, so I'll tell you if they work or not.

Thumbs up

My chinese doctor recommended that I start taking Enzyme pills to help my body digest my food better. I initially went to her because I was have bowel problems when I would eat lots of different foods. Anyways I started taking one pill twice a day after a meal. I can definately tell the difference with how I felt after eating and maybe it's just in my head but I felt like I had lots more energy which in turn helped me to get exercising and lose that weight.
Im definately not crazy about taking pills or anything but these I feel safe about and trust that she wouldn't suggest them if they were bad.
Let us know what you think of them once you start trying them.

I take a mulit-vitamin/mineral pill everyday............a prenatal one because it was recommended to take the prenatal one before I got pregnant. Mostly because I also think milk is nasy and for the folate.
I haven't even heard of digestive enzymes

Val - Can I recommend that you look into the negative effects of Chromium? There is research that suggest that it causes DNA strand breaks, which lead to mutations, which can lead to cancer.

yikes! That's awful! I know they have chromium in pretty much every multivitamin too... Maybe it has something to do with the amount you ingest? I was recommended chromium to help stabalize my blood sugar, but never ended up buying it. That's kind of scary!
