So Daisy mentioned in the weekly chat that she just got an iPod and it got me thinking....
what's on your iPod?
I'm talking about music that you workout/run/etc. to. I got mine in February, and I still don't have nearly enough good heart pumping music. Now I know everyone's taste in music is different, but tell us what motivated you!
Let's see....
Welcome to the Jungle is a must have
Blue Orchid - The White Stripes
Lift Me Up - Moby (The Mylo Mix) ---trust me, it's awesome!
last night was my test run with my playlist for a 45 minute walk and some songs didn't cut it. however, these particular songs were excellent
flashdance - deep dish (the beat is fantastic!)
ghetto musick - outkast
black fingernails, red wine - eskimo joe (this is an aussie band and this song is so "get your butt moving")
hey mama - BEP (i always think of garfield dancing around when i hear this , gets me moving)
strict machine - goldfrapp (another great beat in the strain of flashdance)
these are the ones that come to mind at the moment. i have redone my playlist for 60 mins of music and will give it a go tonight on my walk. will see how i go and put the list up if y'all like
My motivation music is much more poppy than I usually go for, but here are some of my faves:
Take your Mama - Scissor Sisters
One More Time - Daft Punk
Suddenly I See - KT Tunstall
Mrs. Robinson - Lemonheads (redo of Simon and Garfunkel)
Race for the Prize - Flaming Lips
Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco
Hm, I need to make a new motivational playlist. These are the same old songs I've been listening to for months..... Gotta go find more upbeat music!
Whisper Song (the non-radio version) - Yin Yang Twins
SOS - Rihanna
Run Rabbit Run - Eminem
Medicating - boys night out
Whoop that Trick - from the Hustle and Flow soundtrack
and some Sizza for some reggae that makes me wanna move!
ha, I have pretty much anything imaginable on my iPod (couldn't get the Nano because I have WELL over 1000 songs). I don't listen to any certain "workout" music...I just set it to shuffle and listen to whatever pops up. Then again, I'm usually on an elliptical, so I just keep it on the machine right in front of me so if a slow song pops up, it's easy to change. I range from Britney Spears to Metallica to The Roots to The White Stripes to The Beatles to old Puff Daddy (yeah, back when he was Puff Daddy and not this P. Diddy nonsense) to songs from Disney movies Normally, I prefer alternative rock, but when exercising, pretty much anything upbeat works for me.
Ahhh Music, the pleasure of life...
My newest song is Promiscous by Nelly Furtado... I used to be a leader for a group of girl guides and they were convinced I looked like her but that was back in my skinny days
Other stuff:
From the Police to Eve to James Blunt, anything I enjoy listening to will get me pumped up to work out.
On a side note, I am part of a swap group that is exchanging Pump you Up Mixed Cds, so if anyone is interested, pm me and I will send you the link
Buena Vista Social Club- here's to the latin stuff, Pilatesgirl!
Madonna (old and new)
Moby- natural Blues
Seal- Crazy
the Fray- Cable Car
Smoothie Song- Nickel Creek
Respect- Aretha Franklin
R.L. Burnside- it's Bad You Know
Tears For Fears- Everybody Wants to Rule The World
Ok...good topic....anything by the Chemical Brothers or Prodigy is good. Some fatboy slim isn't too bad either. Higher Ground by RHCP, a song called "Too Much Booty in the Pants" and " Pull over that a** is too Fat" are good motivators.
Love this song.. get's me pumped... there's a bunch of other songs on the iPod but that's the song I want to rave about right now... Ohhhh and Beep by the kittycat Dolls Ft Will.I.Am
LOVE MY iPod! haha this is the 2nd thread tonight that i've raved about it in
I'm with Jillybean, I have pretty much everything on mine. If something comes on that's too slow I just hit next.
I find I usually skip the Dixie Chicks, Clarks, Everclear and other slower stuff and listen to Good Charlotte, All American Rejects, Lifehouse. Hanging by a Moment is actually a really good workout song.
ANYTHING by the crystal method, especially on the cd TWEEKEND. My sister stole this cd from me because she wanted it for her workouts too. Its especially awesome if you are on the elliptical because it makes you feel like you're running away from an enemy on a spy mission!
added: this is just an electronic mix, and there are no lyrics in it.
