Got in my running, W1D3... I think I might stick w/ week 1 for 2 weeks though instead of just the one, because its a little easier, but still a little tough.... Good luck ladies! Keep it uup!

SwimGirl 10-11-2006 02:20 AM

Hmm.. I thought I had posted here today..

Started week 2 day 1 today, it went well. My legs are super sore from doing like 100 squats and 30 lunges yesterday.. but I made it thru it!

What other sorts of exercise are you gals doing? I want to let my muscles recover from running, but also really want to lose some of this darn weight!

Hey all - I feel like i've been MIA lately.
I run like at least once a week :) doesn't that sound awful - but I try to do it 2 - in the summer I was doing it like 5 times a week. NOW I also do spinning twice a week - and have been really bad about excersize lately - f()*& writing it out makes me realize i need to kick my butt back into GEAR!
thanks!

You guys are moving pretty fast!

I definitely agree with getting fitted at a non-biased store. THe second I get some extra money I'm going into Runner's Roost for a fitting. I'm still in the same shoes as when I was 210, so they are quite stretched. I'm also getting a nasty callous on my pinky toe and am losing the nail (hello yucky feet!)

I'm never running with our hockey director again! He nearly killed me! Keep in mind this man is 6'5 and 250.... It was a great motivator, though. I've been at a faster pace since then (5.4 up to 5.7). I guess you need a push once in a while to get going in the right direction.

Stephanie Osborne 10-11-2006 11:28 AM

Ok girlies can I rejoin the running cult? I have been on and off with my running. I am stuck at about wk6 of the c25k everytime I try to progress I end up making my shins very very angry at me lol. I have having to stay there till I am comfortable enough to move on and then I feel failure and stop running altogether. I am going to have a cramped schedule soon and no gym membership. I own a treadmill at home and I miss the feeling I get after a good run! Y'all have inspired me, I am running this afternoon.

SwimGirl 10-13-2006 12:29 AM

I finished my second workout of week 2, I was SO SO sore today. For some reason I decided to do Tae-Bo yesterday, for an HOUR! Not going to do that again! I feel a long way away from running 30 minutes straight, more stretching tonight in hopes that I can get some kinda workout in tomorrow.

bida 10-13-2006 03:25 AM

i had this big reply to you stephie - i don't know where it went. but basically it said - have you changed your shoes in a while? is there proper cushion in them? also do you ever run on soft surfaces - not concrete - and I believe the treadmill is also hard to run on. I am lucky and have never had problems with my shins - even when training for hte marathon - but once they get hurt i hear its bad news (easier to hurt again). I heard you could do weights for them - and make sure you stretch them and your achilles heal.

So on wed we had track work out - wee did 8 400s - progressing from a slow 400 to a fast 400 in the fourth rep - then back to slow and up to fastest by 8th rep - 90% - resting in between each one for half the time it took you to run the 400. So I did a 400 in 1 minute 50 and then would rest for half that time (that was my fastest) - Imagine I could run a mile at that pace - wow - I would be under my goal of 8 minutes - super cool. wonder what my time would be if I did just 1 mile... haven't done that in forever. I did a 740 in HS and would love to get back to that.

Oh - that was called a taper run - because it was shorter - I ran an extra mile at the end bringing my mileage up to 4 miles for the evening.

Go me!

bida 10-17-2006 01:55 AM

So I am getting faster! yeah!!!

Today I ran 4 miles in 36 minutes - that means a 9 minute mile - sustained for 4 miles - yeah baby!!!!

SwimGirl 10-17-2006 02:02 PM

bida - congrats on getting faster :)

So running is put on hold for me until the end of this week, maybe longer, we'll see. Yesterday I broke my middle toe, I stubbed it against a wall, it's looking pretty gross. And I definitely don't want to hurt it even more.. so for now I let it heal. Which is SO frustrating!!!

-Aimee

spillthebeans 10-17-2006 02:29 PM

AIMEE, sorry to hear about your toe! I hope it heals quickly!

bida 10-18-2006 02:38 AM

Owwwww.

SwimGirl 10-21-2006 01:54 AM

I am going back to running tomorrow! My toe is feeling not too bad, and I was looking at my run date. I gotta get back into this pretty quick, as it is I am going to be cutting my training pretty close to the actual run date. I got my calender out, and if I remain injury free (definitely watching my feet a little closer when getting up so early in the morning!), I can do it all. I am SO determined to do it, partly because SO many people think I'm just not going to do it. Out of the 5 people who had agreed to do the run with me, only 1 person hasn't cancelled on me. I can do this! I WILL do this!

-Aimee

bida 10-26-2006 04:55 PM

Hey All!
So I am super proud of myself!
Yest at my track workout - which I missed last week - we did a timed mile and a half. guess how fast I ran it? And i want to tell you - we first did a mile warm up - then we did 4 400s, each progressively faster and finally an 800 - so I ran 2.5 miles before we did the timed 1.5 mile. So did you guess yet??

12:10 - 12:10!!! that is like almost an 8 minute mile (well I think at the mile marker I was at 8:12....) but still - whoo hoo! only 30 seconds to trim off my mile before I get to the 7:40 mark that I want! yeah! yeah! yeah!!!!!

B

SwimGirl 10-26-2006 05:21 PM

bida - Congrats!!! :) Thats awesome!

I went for a run today, first in like over a week :( But I did it! I did week 3 day 1, it felt good. Not TOO hard, I am believing that I can do this 5km after all! :) Oh plus - I lost 6 pounds in the last week.. :)

-Aimee

SwimGirl 10-31-2006 05:39 PM

I am fully back into training, it's going pretty good. I am amazed at how much my body is willing to take in terms of how long I am running for these days. Some days I feel like I can totally do it.. others not so much.. heh. I guess the truth is.. I AM doing it.

-Aimee

Dreamer85 11-01-2006 02:54 AM

I've been taking a break, I hope to restart the C25K program soon though, sometime after all these midterms and projects are up... Yay, I missed the runner's thread...

Good Luck on your WORKOUTS GIRLS! Its a new month!

bida 11-02-2006 12:12 PM

Hey all!
So i'm debating running a half marathon in a month - I really doubt that is long enough away to actually train for one - but I wonder if it will help jump start my fitness goals - since I will have to do these runs.

hrm.

last night was 4.25

1600 warm up
1600 at 5K pace 2 minute break
4X400s with 30 second break each faster
1600 at 5k pace
1 lap (400) cool down.

Dreamer85 11-02-2006 10:39 PM

Didn't really run today, but got in some machine cardio... felt good! I missed it! Is that weird? LOL

SwimGirl 11-02-2006 11:42 PM

Dreamer - heck no it's not weird! I feel like I get a high when I run.

bida - what kidna training are you doing? And with who?

Do you gals run outside or inside? I'm running outside and wow.. it's cold and wet these days! I got soaked thru my BRA today, and I was wearing bra, tank top, long sleeved shirt and semi waterproof jacket. But I'm still doing it despite the rain.. I'm kinda proud of that :) What do you think I'm going to need when it gets colder?

-Aimee

Totally_Xonkers 11-03-2006 01:55 AM

RUNNERS!

Okay, sorry for the enthusiasm there. I have just taken up running with my sister this year. We were going pretty well until about six weeks ago. We've had a bit of stress put on us and the habit sort of fell out.

I'm just looking for motivation, and posting here will keep it on my mind to run more often. :D

*note to self* RUN TODAY!

uli 11-03-2006 02:21 AM

hello runners

I ran my second half marathon on Sunday 21km and it was great:carrot:

Keep on running!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care,
regards from Uli

bida 11-03-2006 06:38 AM

whoo hoo uli!

i run in socalifornia - so it doesn't get too cold here - in ny i used to run inside after a while - but I didnt'' really train in the winter - went to the gym but... :)

B

bida 11-07-2006 02:36 PM

runners...what cha doing???

i ran five miles on sat and then went hiking with some trail running - not a lot - but I mixed it up - on sunday - a most beautiful LA day. I could see all the way to the ocean from my hieght - including LA downtown - which is a bit unusual considing it is LA :)

SwimGirl 11-11-2006 02:00 AM

I'm still running! Tomorrow I am due to run 2 miles with no walking breaks.. I'll be interested to see how that works out, I'm pretty sore from work today. My goal is to get at LEAST half way there and then maybe walk for 90 seconds or so if I'm really sore or its too hard. Being a beginner sucks!

-Aimee

bida 11-11-2006 05:10 PM

Congrats Bida!!!

bida 11-14-2006 05:32 AM

do any of you have the motivation to work out twice a day...should I? I need to kick start some weight loss again - and I am like failing...ok - I'm prob not eating well enough either - but maybe I should excersize more and then I won't have to be so depressed about my eating habits...

Where are my runners? anyone doing a turkey trot on thursday??
My coach said he will be running all day until it gets dark and then eating until he passes out - haha sounds like fun (not something I can do!)
I ran 6 miles yest - 3 and 3 - in the early AM - it was SOOOO hot.
My knee has been bothering me lately - which I think is bad.

junebug41 11-21-2006 09:21 PM

6 miles? Holy....

To answer your previous question, I will run twice a day if I have time. I don't go over an hour total, though. Like today, for instance, I had the whole day to myself so I did 20 minutes before lunch and then 30 minutes before dinner. Sorry about your knee! MY BF has that problem and it bothers him to no end. Have you tried taking it easy and wokring on a bike? I know that is used for therapy...
