  • I follow shoot for 40/40/20 as well, but it usually ends up 40/30/30. This type of eating works best for me. Not everyone can tolerate a mid-high carb diet (over 40%). But whatever your ratio, it would be best to ALWAYS consume a carb with some sort of protein at every meal, even snacks.
  • Yay!!! I've totally learned so much from you all! Thanks for explaining it in "normal people's language"! I was reading online last night, and so didn't get what the heck they were talking about....poly saturated, hydrogenated... WHAT DID IT ALL MEAN?!?!?!?! Now I understand!!! Thanks everyone!

Ok, now I want to figure out the 40/40/20 thing....where'd you say you found that scenerio?? Body For Life or Something.....must do a search for that online. I'm obviously going to count my calories. So you divide the entire daily amount into those percentages?? Hmmmm

I think I'm getting the hang of all this! Thanks for your help!
  • Just as an FYI to further show how bad trans fats are--on another thread, someone posted an article that actually included a study that showed that just 5g of trans fats a day can increase your chance of a heart attack by 25% Trans fats practically attack your body by increasing your bad cholesterol and decreasing you good cholesterol--evil stuff, it is
  • Ok, here's another question...I'm not much of a breakfast person...cereal's and junk in the morning, I just can't make myself eat...what can I do instead, I know I should wait till lunch to eat something. Would any meal replacement shake or something work??
  • Currently, I just have a glass of V8 in the morning. I used to have a no-sugar-added Carnation instant breakfast with skim milk. If you have any shakes or smoothies you like, anything is better than nothing. I have also made a breakfast smoothie of 2 small bananas, 2 T natural peanut butter, skim milk, and ice--YUM! Meal replacement shakes can get a bit expensive, but if you're up to paying for them (I usually see the Slim Fasts for about $6.99 for 6 cans), then by all means, have at it.
  • A smoothie for me too. I'm trying steel cut oats with egg whites this week, not bad. But I don't eat first thing either. I'm just not into food until I've been up for a while.

They want you to buy things of course. But you don't have to. The food lists and exercise suggestions are great.
