yeah I think I heard about the Green tea somewhere, to bad I hate tea...
One thing that works for me is eating every 3-5 hours....typically in between meals I will have some fruit or like a special k bar, and this helps with not binging when I get home
I think that caffeine in general boosts your metabolism but only for a short period of time. You can also eat every 3 hours or so. This trains your body to know that it has food coming in on a regular basis. Knowing that it is not in starvation mode or having to store extra fat in case there is no food coming in your metabolism will start to rev up and you will burn faster. Also you have a higher metabolic rate after a workout. I have heard that if you workout in the morning this may help you lose weight because your metabolism will be higher for the first part of the day when you are eating meals.
Does the eating every 3 hours work with boosting metabolism? Has anyone tried and noticed a difference? I know I need to exercist too. But along with no metabolism, I have NO free time with working 2 jobs. I just will have to get up at 4am or something. Anyone tried the Jorge Cruise 3 hour diet< Or the Sonoma Diet? Any comments?

Yes I eat every 3-5 hours and I noticed a big difference.
my schedule below:
6:30am- eat breakfast
10:30am-eat fruit or veggie
2:00pm-eat lunch
5:00pm-eat fruit of veggie
7-7:30pm-eat dinner
Then I go to bed at 9 since I get up at 4:30 in the morning
Eating ever 3 hours works for sure, along with exercise. It's funny when we talk about metabolism we kind of make it seem like an organ in the body that doesn't function, haha. Anyway, it takes a long time to up your metabolism, but if you are consistant you can definitely do it for sure!
The more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body will burn at rest. To build muscle, incorporate strength training into your workout several times a week. I would also suggest trying to move about as often as possible to get your blood flowing/increase your heart rate. For example, if you work sitting at a desk, every hour or two get up and do a lap around the building, or up & down the stairwell, or some jumping jacks, or something else...you get the idea.
Hi. I also did (still do sad to say!) the same thing and killed my metabolism! I have a very hard time eating anything before 6 each night! But then I can't keep my eyes open after dinner unless I am snacking.
I bought teh Green Tea supplement pills. They did not seem to do much at all. I used them and so did my hubby. Neither of us seen a difference in anything really.
Personally I feel it is another gimmick to make money. Everyone knows if something says "weight loss" people will buy it. I swear I will write the next diet book so I can get rich lol. Just kidding of course.
Caffiene don't help me much either. I am a big coffee drinker. I have been for years.
I think one step at a time and patients might be the keys to getting going. I am reading a book called "Calorie Queens" right now. I am going to give that a shot. Also, I think eating something every couple of hours (or 3 meals and at least 2 snacks a day) might help as well. I am going to try it here too.
Weight lifting has helped me out a lot. I do a 30 minute set, 3 times a week. And I've noticed that, even when I go on vacation and do nothing but eat and be lazy, I don't re-gain.
If you don't like tea, you can try this... I have recently bought Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus in 16 oz bottles at the grocery store. I was leery at first, because bottled tea is usually HORRIBLE... BUT, this stuff is fantastic. No calories, no fat, only 70mg of sodium per bottle. That's it. And it tastes more like juice than tea, I promise. It's FANTASTIC. I can't stop drinking it. I drink 2-3 of them a day.

agree this is the most sure fire way of increasing your metabolism on a regular basis.
caffeine needs to be taken in its most purist form for it to have any impact on your metabolism. having a 'coffee' will not increase it.
green tea may help but its not like your going to feel a whizzing of your insides as it burns up your metabolism. it will compliment, but not be the ultimate factor in your weight loss.
a popular choice is to have some hot water with lemon in the morning upon waking. i personally haven't tried it - but have heard that it is a good way to get your fires going in the morning.
eating every few hours is a good idea - just don't let your body get into panic mode. that is why breaky is such a good thing - your body has had up to 10 hours from eating previously and it will increase your metabolism to a certain extent. breakfast is crucial (IMO).
I think the best way to boost your matabolic rate is to eat 6 times a day, small meals. Rice, veggies, and chicken or fish. egg whites. You will loose a dress size in 6 days, but you must do it. You will see, just give it a shot. hope this helps. Sorry to butt in...
I recently read on bodybuilding.com that when most body builders want their muscles to pop, and get rid of lots of thier body fat, they can eat anywhere from 3-6 small meals a day. It tricks your metabolism so it doesn't store fat, and keeps your metabolism active.
I know your not a body builder, but it's all relative. In a way you are, your building your body they way you want...mmhh
I agree with everything here- especially the lifting weights part. Lifting weights will increase the amount of muscle mass you have intrun increase your metabolims. Muscle uses more calories even when you are doing absolutely nothing. Don't be afraid to life heavier weights YOU WILL NOT GET BIG!! muscle takes up less room too, but it weighs more. So yes the scale may not show a rapid loss of weight BUT you clothes will fit better, your but will be higher, your boobs perkier ( for real!!).....
Also you could do cardio and weights in on session (by doing only weights). its circuit training...basically you do a full body workout with out stopping between muscles/exercises... for example, you do you back, then shoulders, then, thighs, then bicepts and so on...with no rest then once you have done all the muscles, take a 2-3 minute rest...if you have not lifted weights do this one time thru for about two weeks, then increase to twice and so on unil you can do it 3-4 times non stop... also, if you can do 12 repitions up your weight ( the 12th rep should be hard!)
this will sky rocket your heart rate, increase you metabolism during AND AfTER your work out...to see even better results..top it off with a cardio session...
Oh and by the way...I was personal trainer...a lot of my clients saw great results with this...
P.S. if you need rest between muscles (exercises), keep it to 30 seconds...listen to your body.
