Plateau already??? Help !!!!

  • I started this journey 3 months ago and I have lost 19 pounds but... I seem to be stuck at 19 pounds. I need help! My official weigh in isn't until Friday but I don't think I've lost an ounce. I have already increased my exercise and adjusted my calorie intake from 1900 calories to 1600 calories. WTH am I doing wrong. any suggestions.
  • Don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong, your body is adjusting to the new you body... Congrats on the weight loss... Be patient!
  • I haven't really gained or lost anything for a few weeks if not a month but i have to say my BODY is changing. Sometimes there is a lot more to weight loss then the scale. Remember you gain muscle and burn off fat and can still weigh the same.

Keep going. Don't worry. Your body will thank you for it at the end.
  • Congrats on your loss so far!

The oooonly thing I would suggest is try increasing your calories and see what happens. I'm losing on 1800 cals a day at 195 pounds.
  • You will break this plateau! I recently was stuck for 3 weeks, and I had only started a 3 months ago as well...when the scale does move, it will all be worth it! Congrats on your loss so far...it's great!
  • I am also at a little plateau I have only lost 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks....I started in jan. and have lost a total of 22 pounds....like everyone else says our bodies have to get use to the loss....you might want to try running...I am now starting to jog instead of walking and it seems to be working better and I should have a loss this week.
  • KAYLEY you are in the TWO's now?? Way Cool CONGRATS!!
  • Thank you ladies !!
I knew I could count on you guys for some suggestions and support. I feel much better knowing that some of you have experienced this and gotten past it. This is just soooo frustrating but I know I am going to get results in the end. It's just really hard to feel like your efforts aren't being rewarded. I am going to switch up the routine and hang in there **sigh** I am going break this plateau dangit !!!
  • Congrats on what you have accomplished so far!
I've had those times where I thought I couldn't lose anymore....when I hit 170and 155. Those were the hardest weights to get away from! But stick with it...eventually your body will get a clue.

You know what is funny, I noticed that about me...I am about 153 right now and this has been the hardest for me...Congrats on your weight loss though...I see you bypassed the 150's!!! Thats Great!
  • 170s and 150s are hard.. to get past..

You MAY need to increase your calorie intake because if you are not taking in enough calories your body will go into some sort of survival mode, and hold on to the fat it has, like it would do if you were on a desert island starving. Keep cals the same, 1800 and change up your routine, thats what I would do.
  • I just got over a 3 week plateau this week - and I was at 19 pounds after three months - pretty much where you're at now. Definitely agree that every once and a while your body will take matters into it's own hands and stop to ponder its new size for a while. The good news is it's not permanent - my plateau ended this week and I went down 2 1/2 pounds right away. It'll start up again - in the meantime, why not start doing a new exercise - increase your strength training, take a class? It'll help take your mind off the numbers and put it onto your muscles!
  • What about water? I know something even if you are doing good on eating and on your exercise not getting enough water can throw you a curveball.
  • Ooh water's a good one.

    or, try calorie zig-zagging.

or, try a different exercise. during a short plateau i tried climbing stairs for 10 min (real stairs. i was exhausted.) I lost the next day.
