Weekly Chat - 1st Week of the Year!!!!
So I didn't see this thread started so decided to jump in and post it. I just wanted to wish everyone a healthy and happy new year!!
What is everyones plans this week for accomplishing their goals for the year? Mine is to join a gym!!! :ebike: I already know which one I'm joining and my friends go there as well. It is about 2.5 miles from my house so I have no excuses to not go :nono:. |
Happy New Year Mocha!
I need to re-join my gym this week. My membership expired. Bah. But since i won't be able to go today or the next few days i might as well do my home routine. It's been raining so i can't do any runs. Maybe i'll use up another 10 day free pass at 24 hour. =giggles= Lot's to do! So little time. Good Luck in 2006! |
Happy New Years to all!! Today was a big Steeler football game which meant potluck food. ARGH! Oh well, I did better than I would've before and feel confident that can do better tomorrow.
Oh my first day at the gym was yesterday! It rocked and my arms are happily sore :) Andrea |
Andrea - I'm so happy that you got off to a great start thus far. What gym do you go to? Seven more pounds to reach your goal, keep up the great work!
|
Hello ladies. Gosh it's been busy for weeks now. I've missed you all, I haven't come on much. Partially because of being busy, partially because through the holidays I haven't been on course really at all. Good news is that I haven't gained really. A couple pounds sure, but I can usually take those off in a few days eating clean and drinking a lot of water. This week I am going to be making sure to get a good workout in every day (got a mini stair stepper and a bosu ball for x-mas, so there's no reason in the world to not workout) and to get back on track eating! I am ready to finish up my goal of 149 and then set a new one of 135 and get to that, hopefully by the end of the semester if not sooner. We'll see. I am glad all of the distractions are over now!!!
|
Hey. I like to introduce myself
I am from Canada, I am 25, I am teacher's college and want some ladies my age to chat with. My goal is to lose 15lbs, and be 18% body fat. This week I am planning out my monthly eating, taking my gym membership off hold and starting on Tuesday with 3 days a week until Feb, then 4 until march then five, etc... I have also convinced my sister to come to the gym with me. She has always been resistant to coming to the gym with me, but this year she has said YES...I am very excited about this. so yeah nice to meet all of you!!! |
trnsfrmnreplace - the 10 day free pass sounds great. I need to call to set-up an appointment to get signed up at the gym. I'm ready to get this weight off for good this time!
Andrea- You did a great job going to the gym on the first of the year! :bravo: Fitgal - :welcome: That is great if you can get your sister to go with you to the gym. I think if you have a buddy to go with you it will make you want to go more. Stephanie - Yes, the distractions of holiday goodies are gone :cheer: You've got all the tools you need to workout. I just got thrown a curve ball as funds are low this week due to having to buy tires at almost $500 today!!!! Also I have to take the puppy to the vet tomorrow and he may need xrays. Urrrrgghhh Not good. I'm still going to fork out the money to join the gym though! I get paid on Friday! Yayyy!! I always seem to be broke after the holidays  |
Hi everyone,
I hope to eat very healthy and hit the gym a LOT this week. I just got a new job at the local hospital, so I hope I have time with all of the training I'll be doing. Lastnight I went to the movie "The Ringer" with that Jackass guy and the girl from Grey's Anatomy...I actually loved it- I have worked with many people with developmental disabilities so I get pretty mad if I see people treating them wrong, or putting them in a bad light...this movie did a great job of showing how smart and wonderful they are- when some people think down upon them. AAAND I REALLY wanted popcorn at the movie...but I held back and I just ate some cheerios I brought with and hid in my purse (shhh) and ate that instead...I was so happy when it was over and I realized I used some self control...which I need MORE of! I get a lot of stomach aches from eating junk food, so I have to try to cut that down, not to mention I want to lose 40 lbs. I'll be going to the gym, hopefully it wont be too packed today! I gained 3 lbs for the past few days from the holidays and whatnot...(I think it was water) because when I stepped on the scale this morning, it said 168, so I am glad I am at least where I started originally! I won't change my ticker thing until I see I won't go up for a few days...goodluck with exercising/eating well everyone! Julie |
Ive started off the first few days of 2006 GREAT, fitness wise. I'm already excited to see results. I want to be fit. I want to stay fit for years to come.
|
I can not wait for this year to start. This is going to be a great year and I am going to look great! My goal this month is 10lbs. I know I can do it cause if I am careful and exercise well then I can drop 5lbs. I didn't start off the new year great exercising cause the gym was not open and there were football games to be watched:) Plus, I didn't eat anything due to my little hangover. But I started out great today and had a salad for lunch. YUM! Good luck girls and have a great week!!!
|
Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to a few newbies who I think have joined in my vacation absence!
This week I'm going to: - start my gym membership (Christmas present from my BF - I went by this morning but it's closed today for New Years') - BF and I are going to start playing tennis together, his idea, b/c he wants to get back into shape. He even bought me a racket. But we only have outdoor courts and it's rainy today, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. - Eat healthy, work out and lift weights = the usual I went home to my parents for 8 days, and my sis & her fiance were also there. Lots of fun times with the family, but TONS of naughty food. I have to confess, I ate it all, and only worked out twice. We had what I called "the fat table" in the dining room, conveniently placed so every time you walked from the front door to the rest of the house you could easily grab a cookie or handful of party mix, etc. At the end of the week my mom said to me "maybe making those double batches of cookies wasn't really necessary, like you had suggested..." Thanks mom. I actually only gained 3 lbs, according to the scale this morning. It sounds bad but that's actually a relief that it was only 3 lbs. I felt like such a cow. :moo: Anyway I'm ready to get back on track! I got home to Florida 4 days ago but went straight to BF's family in South Florida for New Years. That was also fun. And I'm happy to say that even though I didn't work out, I ate much more like a "normal" person and stopped stuffing my face. Once the food was gone from right in front of me I could handle it. It's stormy here today, so no gym, but I'll do weights at home after work. Tomorrow, gym, tennis! Glad to hear we're all so enthusiastic about starting off the New Year in a healthy way. :ebike: :strong: |
It strikes me as kind of funny that the moment I get all revved up to get back on this no-gravy train, I get sick. But I'm not letting it stop me - I'm eating well (well, I'm eating low-calorie at least) and drinking enough water (but it could be more), I'm just not able to exercise. I'm hoping that I'll be feeling well enough to get back to the gym by the time I fly home on Friday. I'm just not looking forward to the influx of people you get at the gym for the first few weeks of January.
Eating over Xmas et al. was a disaster, and we'll leave it at that. |
RANT AHEAD...
Okay so the year isn't starting off so well. So I took my car to Costco this morning to get new tires that really need it bad!! I didn't realize that the tread was almost gone on two of my tires. I noticed it this morning when driving to work across the 9 mile bridge and was scared out of mind because the car didn't have much traction. So Costco calls me and says they can't find my wheel locks!!! Urrrgghh. The BF is at home today and is looking, but can't seem to find them. So I call the place that you order the wheel locks from hoping I can get a replacement lock overnighted and they are closed today!!!! Arrrgghhh. I will have to drive really slow back home over the bridge. Oh did I mention it has been pouring rain here for a few days  I'm freaked, but can do it. If I can't find the wheel lock tonight I will have to call in the morning tomorrow to get them ordered. I was planning on going to the gym to sign up tonight, but that will have to wait as I don't want to be driving anywhere that I don't have to go. Okay so I just had to write that to get it out. Hopefully I'll have better news tomorrow. |
I finally got a job ladies. I am so excited!!!!!!!
|
Congrats on the new job!
:( sorry about your tires Jess, that really sucks. Hopefully you find your wheel locks tonight *fingers crossed* Did pretty good today. I had to work (only 12-5 as it's a holiday day at the company) and forgot to eat lunch before I went. Normally I'd just grab McD's on the way (evil) but I decided not to. I remembered that I had soup in my desk drawer at work so I had some of that instead. yummy and much better for me! took a half hr walk today. wanted to go to the gym but my gym buddy wasn't available and it's so cold and rainy out that I decided the walk was good for tonight. Plus my hubby is busy the rest of the week so I thought it would be good to spend some quality time together tonight. So we're watching the hockey game together. Tomorrow though I'm dragging my gym buddy to the gym though ;) |
It's been more than 6 months, but I am back in the forum. I lost 24 lbs., but recently I've gained 5 lbs. back, which has renewed my wishes to get all the weight off, not just 20 lbs. I also have to get a new gym membership. My gym went under and I was saving the money during December for the Holidays, so I hadn't splurged on one yet. But now I am at this cute little 24 hour place a couple blocks from my work. I'm excited about getting back into working out and feeling better, and glad to be chatting with you all again.
|
Water water everywhere!
I've drank 2 liters of water today!:cp: I'm feeling alittle water logged! I usually drink diet soda . . . all day! In fact, I think I have a few cavities from all the dew I drink. That needs to stop, I like having teeth.:D
I had a great workout tonight, my tummy is super sore from the past 3 days. I really to work on my arms as well. I feel like I don't need to as much due to the fact that my son weighs 17 pounds and I'm constantly picking him up and putting him over my head and whatnot. But I've got some chunky arms:strong: Does anybody know of any good chest excercises? I'm very boobalicious and quite self concious about them. They need their own area code. I didn't even give in to my need to ice cream tonight! Yay! I ate rasin bran instead.:m: |
Oh how i feel great! I feel so CONFIDENT in myself.
I'm ready and i'm dedicated! JANUARY is MY month! GO 2006! January Total * Minutes 230/2000 thus far.:encore: |

Happy New Year! Well I am having a real hard time getting back on track. I am back up to 150( I have not updated my ticker, yet). I did so much baking over the holidays, I packed on the pounds. All eating, no exercising! It has killed me. So last week I was ready to start exercising again, I got a new step for Christmas. Well I sprained my ankle, so once again I am not exercising. It is still bothering me, so I am going to give if a few more days. So now, you think I could control my eating, well nope! My "friend" is coming this week and boy do I crave chocolate. So I have been eating Kisses all morning. We are going to Florida on the 20th, I want to be down to 140 by then. I just need to get out of this horrible rut I am in. I don't even feel good anymore. I want to get back to exercising and not eating so much! I am so glad the holidays are over with.
I never expected to lose all my motivation when I am so close to making goal. But I guess I am at a tough part of my journey. Well I hope everyone had a great NY's. My husband and I actually stayed awake this year! |
Happy New Year everyone!
The holidays, as expected, were full of eating junk food. Going home to LA was great, but the visit was too short! :( I'm back at work today after a forced break from the computer to help my wrists heal (I am sure you are all sick of hearing about my wrists by now, they're almost better!). Anyway, at least I worked up a sweat with all the baking during Christmas, so that's better than nothing, right? :p This week so far I have been trying to experiment with recipes. I sorted through all my Cooking Light magazines and I've been cooking up a storm! (A healthy storm!) Yogurt is my new favorite baking ingredient, it substitutes for fat in a whole lot of baked goods without making them taste yogurt-y. I made muffins and cornbread this week both with yogurt. Anyway, our gym opens up again this week so back to work there (they were closed from Xmas & NY). I won't be posting too much due to wrists, so if you see me posting a lot yell at me or something. In other news, it's getting to be time for me to start looking for a job! If any of you have any contacts in the software industry in Indianapolis, PM me! |
Hey everybody!! Well, this New Year is starting off GREAT for me exercise-wise...my cousin Dana has agreed to workout with me 1-2 hrs every day and the 1st two days have been uber-successful!! We're doing that Kinetic game (oh Jess I just love you for telling us about it!!), the new "Biggest Loser" workout that recently came out, free weights, and crunches. My whole body is happily sore today and I LOVE it!! :) Keep your eye out for Dana, she's supposed to join up too... :)
Allensmom~ that SERIOUSLY cracked me up...boobalicious!! HAHAHA Girl I feel you!! Stephanie~ CONGRATS on your job!! :) Fitgal~ WELCOME!! :) Kelli and Jen~ WELCOME BACK!! :) Good luck with your New Year's resolutions everybody!! Does anyone have a goal that's not related to health and fitness? My other goal is to stop procrastinating and take more pride in getting my job done! :) |
Hi everyone!
I am so glad to hear that the new year is starting out well for yall...Like everyone else, I am happy to be done with the holidays (not happy to be back at work!) and ready to start losing again. I have been stuck (seriously stuck!) for the past two months, and I really want to just stick with my plan the next few months and get to goal before my HS reunion. As for non-weight loss goals...I want to get involved in more things outside of work! I swear sometimes I feel like it takes over my life!! :) |
Woah, we're busy this week ladies! New Years seems to bring out our best intentions. ;)
Christy, how great that you have a new exercise buddy! Working out with someone else always helps me. ;) Paperclippy, I don't have any job leads, but gosh I'd like to be in your kitchen right now. Treadgirl, injuries are rough but I'm sure you'll get through it. What part of Florida are you visiting? Sugarbutt, I'm so sorry to hear about you and your husband. :grouphug: trnsfrmnreplace, can I copy your attitude? Allensmom23, sorry I've never had a problem with my boobs being too big *sigh*. I actually do exercises (push-ups, dumbbells) to strengthen my pecs b/c I've read if they're firmer your boobs will also look firmer over them. I don't know any exercises to shrink 'em, though. kellibee2000, welcome back! smiles16, good for you for eating the soup instead of McD's. Awesome willpower! Stephanie, congrats on the new job! What will you be doing? Mocha, I hope you get home safely! Be careful! jenicra, I hope you feel better soon. It is beautiful outside today after rain yesterday, but my BF just called and backed out of our tennis date this evening b/c of he's busy. But I walked during lunch, I'm headed straight to the gym from work, and have been eating perfectly OP today - I even ignored the Krispy Kremes someone brought in. I had a few chocolates yesterday though :o(. Have a great day everyone! |
Here's to 2006!
Happy New Year!! I'm trying to get back on track, though it's harder than I thought it would be. Eating wise, going pretty well, but my head is still stuck on fries, cheeseburgers, chocolates, Mrs. Fields cookies. Yum, yum, yum! Lol. And forget about the gym. I haven't used my membership since October. (Clunk!) That's the sound of money being thrown down the toilet.
My goal = to get out of the 200's and stay out!!!:carrot: |
Uggh not much time to read everyones post. I skimmed though and will try to respond to everyone.
I couldn't find the stupid wheel lock key yesteray, but I ordred one this morning and it is getting overnighted to me for delivery tomorrow :cheer:. I can actually get my new tires tomorrow, hopefully! I'm joining the gym on Thursday!!! Didn't have time today and tomorrow I'm going out to celebrate my friend getting a new job at my work!!! I'm so excited. She lives less than a mile from me so now we'll actually be able to work together and she will be one of my gym buddies!!! She won't start for around 3 weeks though, but I'm still glad to have one of my best friends working at my company. :cheer: Treadgirl - You'll get your motivation back soon!!! I have faith! Stephanie - :bravo: on getting the job!!! That's great!!! Michelle - That's a good goal to have. Sometime we just get so involved in work and everything else takes a back seat. Make sure you spend extra time concentrating on yourself as well as spending time with loved ones! Megan - Good job on resisting the tempations!! Christy - You're doing so good with exercise :ebike:! That's great!! Paperclippy - Wow, that sucks about the gym being closed on the holidays. That's when you need it most. I guess you're right though, we actually have to let them have time off :) Sugarbutt - Welcome back!!! Trnsfrmnreplace- Definitely lovin' your attitude! Keep up the motivation! |
Hi everyone! I had such a good day health-wise yesterday, I am very excited and want to share! First, I joined the gym and went and worked out for an hour. I didn't let myself be intimidated, I just did it. My legs are actually a little sore! I ate exactly what I planned, plenty of protein, F & V, ignored the Krispy Kremes (which are still sitting in the office, BTW, and I'm still ignoring!) and chocolates in my freezer. I had some wine with dinner but had planned ahead and allotted calories for it, adding it to my grilled chicken and salad w/ light dressing. I feel like I haven't had such an OP day in several weeks, and I actually feel empowered to do it again. Empowerment (spelling?) - I haven't felt that in a long time!
Mocha, it's great that a friend is working with you, and working out with you! I hope you get those tires soon. DragonflyK916, I think a lot of us are trying to get back on track like you. We can do it! Have a great day everyone. :) |
sounds like everyone is doing good and getting back on track- Congratulations to you all, it's a step in the right direction.
I have yet to take that step, I'm enjoying the rest of the week off..in moderation of course.. Have a great rest of the week ladies! |
heheh, tack me on to the list of those trying to get back on track after the holidays! Lasagna and cookies and pies, oh my! But I'm back with it now, and I have done well for yesterday and so far today. I have started watching my exchanges (6-12 whole grains, 2-3 dairy, 3+ fruits, 3+veggies, and 2-3 protein) and fat (goal is 30% or less each day) in addition to counting calories (trying to stay around 1800 a day now). I'm also making an effort to lower my sodium when I can. I started posting in the food journal thread here in the 20s section, too. Gotta keep my maid of honor dress in mind--gotta squeeze into it by April!!
|
Hi everyone!
It's been a couple of weeks, I think, and I'm kind of new around here, so I'll reintroduce myself to the group. My name is Christina, I live in FL with my husband and cat, and I'm currently going to grad school here (graduating in August) and applying to law school for the fall. Anyway, I just want to keep going with my diet and exercise in the new year. I haven't gotten anything new going with my workouts yet, but for the diet, I bought a couple of new (healthy!) cookbooks and have plans to try out some new recipes. I love to cook, and enjoy adding in a lot of variety. So it should be lots of fun. :chef: I hope everyone's having a great week so far! Stephanie - congratulations on the new job! |
Yayyyy the key to the wheel lock arrived this morning:D. My tires are getting put on as I type this!!! I'll pick up my car later this afternoon. I was so worried earlier this week, but am glad that it's taken care of. Of course the rain has stopped anyways so driving hasn't been that bad.
I can't wait to join the gym tomorrow! I really need to get my butt moving :cb:. The scale is budging ever so slightly, but I know once I hit the gym again I'll be right back on track and in line to make my goal of 5 lbs. this month. Megan - Looks like you had the best OP day yesterday!!! :carrot: Also, what great willpower you have! Lovin' it! Jill - Yes keep that dress in mind. It's always good to keep remembering the goal :) Christina - Let us know if you find any great recipes in those cookbooks! I don't cook, but I can always get my BF to make something for me :) |
HI! I'm new! I'm 26, and work in corporate travel *shudder* my goals this year include losing weight, and getting into graduate school. I want to study medieval food, which tends to be healthier than what most people eat today!
|
Welcome Arian. :) Nice to have you around.
I'm still on track... and happy. I've been trying to do 300 sit ups a day and BOY MY TUMMY IS SORE! The oly things i'm lacking now is cardio and my water intake. I'm so addicted to drinking tea but i still don't want to count that as water. I found out that my old gym membership card still works! So hopefull i'll have some time for a 4 mile jog tonight or else i'll never make my 1300 minutes of cardio for the month. |

Yeah i agree with that.. AS in anything else [leg, arms, back...] i do them every other day, but i've found for myself that if i work my abs everyday, it gets me stronger and defined quicker. But that can just be me. hehehe
I'll switch next week to every other day and see how it works out. I try to always use my core no matter what exercise i tend to do. |
Just to add in, I can't seem to get back on track either!! I'm doing really good with exercise, but food is just crap. I find I'm really hungry earlier in the day, and then by dinner I'm up to 1300 calories! ARGH! I'm getting pretty frustrated, but I'm hoping that once school starts up (Monday) I'll fall back into my old schedule/habits. Right now my BF is staying with me til then and its hard to do really well and be with him b/c he eats more than me and I seem to keep trying to keep up! haha.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day... |
I'm having a BAD day! I weighed myself today and I'm up 2.5 lbs! I don't get it b/c I've been really good eating and working out everyday! And drinking lotsa water! I really want to be down atleast 5lbs before the 16th when we go to AZ! This totally sucks!
For supper tonight I had a salad, a few pieces of melon, and a plain hamburger. No bun, no cheese, just the meat. I was eating and my parents house b/c teh hubby's workin late. My mom was like, that doesn't look very tasty. I said I'm eating for taste anymore, just for what I need. |
It's almost bedtime but I'm not quite sleepy yet. So I thought I'd stop by.
Mocha ~ I'll let you know if I get inspired by the new cookbooks! I have some ingredients in the apartment so maybe I'll get to try something new for dinner tomorrow! Arian ~ :welcome2: Good luck with the grad school applications! I'm doing that (except it's law school) this year, and it is strrrrrrrressful! trnsfrmnreplace ~ 300 sit ups! I admire you! I'm not even sure if I am up to 50 yet! Andrea ~ Argggh, boys can have that effect on us. My husband has been eating :jeno: and :cookie: in front of me on a fairly regular basis and he is STILL LOSING WEIGHT. How do they do it?? Mel ~ Hmmm, oddly enough that dinner sounds pretty tasty to me! Good night all! |
Hey Megan, We are going to Orlando. I can't wait. I hope the weather is good, but I am sure it will be better than here in Rhode Island.
Well My ankle is still bothering me. I am going to give it another day and then start out by doing some light workouts. Once I get everything back in order, dieting and exercising, I will be all set. It is just getting there that is the problem. It seems like it is just one thing after another, but I guess it is that time of the year. One good thing is that I have not given up. I do want to get back to my weight loss. I just need a good kick in the butt!!! My next post will not be a downer! I will have some good things to dwell on:cp: |
crk05 - i wish i could do 300 in one sitting. I spread it out into 100's throughout the day. Makes it a little easier.
