Ideas for October Challenge?
Hey all! I loved the September challenge, and since it's almost time for the next month to start it would be cool to think of some new ideas or add ons.
I love the exercise minutes goal. Some people mentioned adding food goals like x amount of fruits and veggies etc. I am looking forward to a new month and new goals to go along with it!!! |
Well I would be up for another exercise challenge. We could make two seperate challenges. One for food and another for exercise. I would probably only do the exercise one though otherwise I would start to obsess too much about how much or little I was eating.
|
I'm intereste in the minute exercise challenge again.
The food part challenge not so much. That's just my two cents. |
I would do both but we would need some guidelines for the food one since everyone is following different plans. Hmmm.
|
how about a happiness challenge? do one thing every day that makes you happy? and they have to be things non-diet related...not like oh i went to kickboxing class today (as fun as that is!) hmmmm I am going to think of my first happiness challenge...this is tricky!!
|
i would like some sort of intake of water but i can add that to my minutes one this time around. I really like how organized Liz was with hers for September, making different categories. I think i'm going to try that.
Goodluck to all. |
I liked that too, I am gonna copy you LIZ!!! LOL! I am deffinitly adding weight training in this time. I like the water thing, that's a good idea. If there are any calorie counters maybe we could post calories.
|
Haha go ahead...follow my example (I love being a trend setter)! It really helped keep me on track and balanced in all the areas I wanted to focus on. AND I am just about at my goal, just run a couple more times and I'm there.
|
I liked doing exercise minutes since it encouraged me to be more active in general- walking places and riding my bike. Although I kept trying to walk places but people insisted on driving me instead! :dizzy: Too bad that in a few weeks it will be too cold here to exercise outside.
I'd *really* rather not do calories but I need to do something to get my eating on track. Maybe I'll do number of days that I resisted a doughnut at Tim's. |
I am up for an exercise challenge . . . . Like people said, food is a hard one b/c everyone is on a different plan. I liked the idea someone said (I forgot who, sorry!) about eating enough servings of veggies each day, since I have trouble with that one. And a happiness challenge sure would be good for my mental health! I missed out on the September challenge for various reasons, but I do need to whip myself back into shape if I want to lose the last five pounds.

i'm kinda new around here. how does the challenge work? does everyone set different goals, and whoever is closest to their goal 'wins'?
i'm intrigued by setting a goal of minutes of exercise and ounces of water drank for myself. i think that would be very helpful! |
I really like the Points Challenge that the 100 lb. Club does. Perhaps we could borrow their model? Basically, the idea is that each day is worth 4 "points" - being on-plan for your food (whatever that means for you personally) is worth 2 points, exercise is worth 1, and water is worth 1. This allows everyone to do their own thing, but still have a collective goal. They all post their individual plans seperately as well on another thread.
Here's what they look like: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64278 In addition, for the "happiness challenge" we could add an emotion face for each day. :D |
That's a great idea!!! I love the points thing!!!
Leann, the way the challenge has worked the last 2 months (which I think is all we've done it for), is everyone sets a minute goal for exercise and edits their post every day with what they've done. We've never done water before, but I think it's a great idea. I think that someone "wins" in the end, but it's more for accountability because some people set their goals for 1000 minutes and some people (like lizbabe, hehe) set their goal for 1,000,000,000 minutes (HA, just kidding). It's like everyone is competing against themselves. I know that this month it has been a huge motivator for me (today aside). |
The points would take some getting used to, but I like that idea. I would do that in addition to exercise minutes. Anything to bust through this plateau.
|
I love the points idea! It would work a lot better for me than the whole exercise minutes thing. Although I do have a goal to exercise, I'm not all that interested in setting a minutes goal, per se. Okay, now I'm excited, let's do it!
