Lightbulb College student looking for a weightloss buddy

Hey! I am new to this board. I am going to be a senior in college this year and on top of stressing about "what I am going to do after I graduate" I have to worry about losing weight. It's hard to eat healthy while attempting to maintain some sort of a socail life. Every morning during the week I wake up and so determined to eat healthy and lose weight, but the the weekend I have succumbed to the pressure and gone out eating and drinking with my friends (usually because I have been so healthy all week it leads to an all night eating and drink fest, which is not good for waistline). I strugge with the same 20 lbs. I would love to just "discuss" with someone, because I feel bad always bothering my friends, boyfriend, and family about it.

hi and welcome! i just graduated from college, but i could probably still be a good buddy! i have some advice and that kind of thing in terms of dealing with college stuff...definitely the hardest thing is just having the willpower to say no to all those things that everyone eats and drinks without gaining any weight! how have you been successful in the past and what are your problem areas? i started losing after my freshman year (when i put on A LOT of weight) and lost about 35 pounds by graduation. i know its a slow loss, but its all stayed off! good luck!!

Wow! Congratulations! In high school I lost about 50 lbs by junior year and was VERY thin going into college. But once I entered college I completely stopped working out, ate every second of the day, and pretty much drank like a fish. Long and behold I gained 30 pounds. I will admit 10 of the pounds I NEEDED to gain, however I have been struggling over those last 20 pounds for the past few years. Sometime I am REALLY good and down 10, othertimes I'm back up the 20. It's just hard sometimes... because of my body type I know that I will never look like many of my extremely thin friends who never work out and don't watch their weight, but at the same time I try not to give up because then I will only feel bad about how I look (thus lose confidence in myself). It's a tradeoff... Now that you graduated what are you up to?

thanks! i am starting in september at a consulting company in sf should be interesting work, however, i am not looking forward to all the free meals at restaurants!! what have you been doing for weight loss? you said you go up and down with 10 lbs...do you have a consistent workout plan? for me, that was the most important part of my diet...i ran every day both for my health and as a stress relief. have you found some kind of excercise that you really like to do?

I really like the eliptical so I've been doing that. Lately I've been plateauing though... I have been stuck on the same number for the past few weeks. People keep saying maybe I should increase my food intake, but I really don't think that will work... I have always been told "To lose weight increase you work out and decrease your energy intake." I feel like it would just undermine everything I've ever thought...
