Can I join in here?

  • I'm pretty new to 3FC but trying to make myself at home.

I'm 25, married, two young kids. I'm still nursing and have finally decided I need to do something about the extra 80 (eek!) pounds I've put on. I'm not really following a specific plan. I'm counting calories and staying below 1500 a day, also trying to keep my fat grams down to around 40 per day. I've been exercising every other day, doing about half an hour on the elliptical machine and half an hour on the recumbent bicycle. I'd like to build up to a full hour on the elliptical but I'm just not there yet. I also need to add in some weight training.

Anyway, I just thought I might fit in here and wanted to introduce myself a bit.
  • Hi,
sounds like you have your hands full. When I was nursing and watching what I ate, I was able to lose so much weight. Make sure you eat enough though I would say try not to go under 1500 by to much because you need calories to nurse. I think they say nursing burns 500 extra calories a day and you need lots of nurishment so that your baby will get it too. I didn't want to stop nursing because it made losing weight so easy but eventually you do.
Good luck, I hope to hear more from you soon.

  • Welcome Gray
  • Hey Gray! I've seen you over on the nursing board. I'm losing weight from my baby, too. This board moves a lot more than the nursing board. Welcome!
  • Jennie: Thanks I'm staying at about 1500 most days (I've gone over a couple of times but not by much). My "baby" is almost 1 1/2 now and only nurses 2 times a day so I feel okay with my diet. I think I'll probably have him weaned by the end of Summer anyway.

    Thanks for the welcome, Jessie!

I recognize you too, Meredith. It does look like this area gets more activity than the nursing one. I'll definitely check in over there too though .
  • Oops, there are so many new people lately I have missed saying hi on all the threads! Welcome!
