I just wanted to thank everyone here for providing the motivation for me to finally sign up for (and complete!) my first 5-K race this past weekend. I was so nervous but ended up having a lot of fun and even came in 3rd place for my age group. My time was 26:21 and now I have a goal to beat next time!! I am going to work on speed intervals until then to bump the intensity up.
Congrats, Liz! That is awesome! All of you runners here have inspired me to attempt it -- it's slow-going, but I hope to eventually be as great as you at doing it. Thanks for the inspiration! Again, great job, Liz!
thats a good time for a 5k mine is normally way over 30 but hey still being me and not thinking of anything as a challange today i have i'll probably regret but hey decided to put forward a nomination for the london marathon next year
Thanks guys! I remember how inspired I was by Jenrica's running accomplishments so I figured it might help someone if I shared too. And I was very very nervous to even enter. I think I would have turned around and come back home if my boyfriend wasn't there supporting me.
I just wanted to post again and say thanks liz for posting this. I registered for a 5K which is tomorrow (talk about last minute decision making). It's a walk/run so even if I can't run the whole way I won't freak out. I would have kept pushing off trying one if it wasn't for this post motivating me. I'll be lucky to finish in under 40 minutes, but as long as I finish I'll be happy.
That's a really good time! I'm currently hitting about 34 minutes, but getting faster (slightly) every time. My first proper race is at the beginning of July. I won't be setting any records, but it's for charity so I just want to take part.
