Default Pros and Cons of pre-packaged lite meals

Hi everyone,

Just looking for the pros and cons of pre-made lite meal options. I am looking at trialling a local weight loss meal plan that comes with food at an additional cost. I have read plenty of success stories, but wondered if anyone here has tried and succeeded at losing weight by eating those meals? The website and television market them as being responsible for some clients losing weight with minimal exercise. I will be doing plenty of exercise, however for convenience, I was looking to try the meals to get myself back into a routine after the festive season. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would say that most people who use pre packaged meals, learn nothing about what they should and shouldn't eat, and then gain the weight back. But if you are really smart about it, there should be no reason as to why they won't work, as long as you know what you are eating. Most of the meals are high in sugar, but only you will know by looking at the packaging if it is or not. Also a lot of the meals will need some sort of added salad for extra nutrition.

So if you have a clear mind about it, work out, drink plenty of water, and read the labels. Then there is no reason as to why it shouldn't work.

Thanks for replying Scotsgal. The product I am looking at is all inclusive; you don't have to buy anything except milk, everything is included in the package, even fruit and salads. It is also extensively advertised as being designed by dietitians, and I have seen the results in my colleagues. I have a fair idea about correct portion sizes and I know what I am supposed to be eating, I lost 15kg this year through this way. My question is more relating to the cost-effectiveness of the product, and its convenience, as my workload is set to increase dramatically in 2017. I am curious about the comparison in price, between buying the ingredients and making the meals yourself, versus the pre-made meals, and whether others have found it worth a try?

I think It really depends on your location and how cheap you think you can buy the products. If you do live a very busy lifestyle, then I would say that yes, this is probably a better option for time and other factors. Many people will pay a little bit more for the knowledge that its all been organised for you. What is the weekly cost of the prepackaged diet?

A full week of pre-packaged meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, 2 snacks, all fruit each day, for 7 days) is just under $150 per week, delivered.

ohhh Its a little pricey, how much is your normal cost if you bought from the store?

Maybe try it for a few weeks and see if you feel its worth the money.
