Happy new year!

I met my new years goal weight of 189 (yay!) so, that's a good start for 2015! My husband and I are no longer preventing pregnancy and hoping to conceive sometime in 2015. We will both continue our healthy lifestyle. I'm going to continue trying to actively lose weight unless I find out I'm pregnant, obviously then things would change a bit!

I hope next year is a great year for all of us!

YaY :carrot: Losing weight for a healthy pregnancy as well! We are aiming to start trying in December, which is a big step up from where my DH originally thought we'd start.

We have been working hard to get healthy too! I would still like to lose more weight, but we just decided we don't want to wait anymore. We aren't actively "trying" right now, but we aren't preventing it either. We are just going to let life happen. We've talked about trying for kids for a year and a half now, and we are both ready!

Did your DH move up your timeline? My husband actually wanted to start more than me this past month. I was just having a mini freak out that I wasn't healthy enough yet, and needed to wait. But I realized that I was just being fearful and worrying about every little thing (which I'm sure will happen again).

He wanted to wait two years but, after sitting down and really talking about it here recently, he thought end of this coming year would be a good time to start. I am concerned about not being as healthy as I should be. My cholesterol needs improvement, thank goodness not to the point of needing medicine. It was another kick in the rear for me in addition to being overweight.

You will know when the time is right. I believe everything happens when it is supposed to, ready or not. :dizzy:

Hello everyone,

I just came across your group and was wondering if there is still the chance to be part of it?
I am in the same boat as you... trying to lose around 20lbs.

A quick background on me:
I have been struggling with my weight since ever! But in college I finally figured out that exercise is the way to go and generally changing my eating habits worked wonders. I lost around 50lbs (from 180lbs to 130lbs) and I maintained my weight for years.
I moved to the U.S. 2.5 years ago, because my husband is from New Jersey and the weight started to pile on. I love American food and let me tell you: I finish my plate no matter the size of the dish. So over the past 2 years I gained around 20lbs and I weighed myself this morning to see an alarming 152lbs. I need to put a stop to this.
I know how to eat, how to exercise to reach my goal, but I couldn't get motivated so far.... it is a vicious cycle...

You are obviously on the right track. Would love to join and share the good, the bad and the ugly ;)

If you still have room I'd love to join!

Welcome mops, anyone can join at anytime! Where are you originally from? What is your plan for losing the 20lbs? I have 18 lbs or so to go. :)

Welcome Mops!

I weighed in at 188.8 today. Stalled a little bit due to ovulation (I always gain a bit... ugh) but I'm expecting a whoosh in a couple days which is always nice! 23.8 lbs to go!

Still holding strong at 181. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day I see 180 (or less). I've been losing a lb consistently every 5-7 days. Slow and steady!

22 left for me! Trying to not have a completely sedentary lifestyle (going to the gym 3 days a week for now, hoping to step it up soon) and eating healthier. My dad knows a lot about nutrition and he's lost a lot of weight himself, so I go to him for help a lot, but it's mostly just instinct, especially since I had pretty unhealthy habits before. So I'm starting off small, with the basics everyone knows - less sodas and McDonalds, more fruits and veggies and whole wheat and etc.

Good luck to everyone! We can do this! ^^

Welcome to the thread. Keep us updated.

Good day today! I did 45 minutes of p90x yoga (kicked my butt too, I'm already sore) and 30 minutes on the elliptical today. I ate 1600 calories total today (I don't usually eat that much but I was hungry after working out so much today!). The scale is still at about 189, but ovulation isn't over yet and I've stepped up my game strength wise, I'm sore, my total body water % is up, and my muscle % is up too, so my muscles are repairing and holding onto water right now, which is fine. I wore size 14s today (a little snug but wearable) my 16s are too big now. It's definitely nice to start the year off in pants that didn't fit me in 2013. I feel like I've accomplished a lot in the last year, and I really hope I can reach my goal in 2015 and stay there.

Hello DrivenByAmbition and ClayGirl! Thank you for the welcome.

I am originally from a small town close to Hamburg, Germany. It is in the northern part of the country.
My way to lose weight is pretty simply but for some reason it is harder this time around. I am not eating carbs for dinner and I am simply trying to cook healthier for every meal. Over the past months I got used to not eating breakfast, eating a salad for lunch and then eating a ton of chocolate for dinner - because I thought I deserve that after eating basically nothing all day. Very, very unhealthy and obviously had a huge, negative effect on my metabolism.
I am also going back to the gym. I try to go 4 times per week for a 45min workout. There is an app I use which is really great called the '7 minute challenge'.

What are you guys doing to lose the last 20lbs?

DrivenByAmbition 01-06-2015 09:37 PM

I have a gluten intolerance, so I stay away from the gluten free junk that's advertised. While some items may be correctly labeled gluten free (the FDA has a weird definition) they are full of empty calories. I am sticking to basics. Meats and veggies.

I need to exercise more. When I got to goal before I had done couch to 5k. The 170s just keep taunting me. I was 181 for the last week and I'm up to 183, thanks to good aunt flo(w). She is very cruel sometimes.
