August Goals!!!!!!!!
Alright...I am pumping myself up for August!!! I need some goals to get myself going and I believe there are a whole lot of us on this board that need the jump start!!
For all that are ready to tackle the next month's goals please post your goals here and update us as the month goes on!!! Good Luck All |
I will start now... I have been planning this all last week after I took a turn for the worst...some of you may remember those darn Snickers Poppables...they did me in...
SO... 1.) RUN...WALK...EXERCISE and don't give up 2.) No breads, pastas, and sugar. 3.) Start eating the Veggies!!!!!!!! 4.) Lose 10 pounds by the end of the month!! 5.) Keep up the good attitude and desire to stick to the goals. |
Goals for August
1. Stay Positive 2. Stay Motivated 3. Start walking *at least a 15 mins* 4. Drink more water 5. Eat more fruit and veggies |
August Goals
1 Get in 45 minutes of cardio 5-6 days a week. 2 Strength train at least twice per week. 3 Keep under 1500 calories per day 5-6 days per week. 4 Drink water as often as possible. 5 Get down to 146 by August 31st. 6 Always Remember how far I've come when I start to feel bad about my progress. |
Woohoo.. I'm aiming for 100% success on these goals:
1) Get in 45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week 2) Lift weights 5 days a week, alternating arms/legs 3)Drink 3 of my water bottles full of water per day (I need to double check how much that is.. but its more then I drink now!) 4) Do low-carb for 2/4 weeks (this is Atkins induction). Weeks must be in a row. 5) Finally reach 145. |
My goals for August!
In the month of August, I plan to:
1) Basically stay on my plan (with of course a small indulgence here & there) during my 2-wk. visit home to my parents'. 2) Continue drinking lots of water! I've been good about this & will continue doing it. 3) Exercise a minimum of every other day (while away) and get cardio 5x's/wk and weight training 3x's/wk while at home. 4) Make a smooth transition back to work (I'm a teacher), staying with my new, healthier eating patterns--because I feel so much BETTER when I'm on it! 5) By the end of the month, have lost at least 7 more pounds, putting me at an even 220 (or below, hopefully!) 6) Keep up my good attitude & relative patience about this journey I'm on--including continuing to ENJOY exercise, for how good it makes me feel. I think that should cover it! It's basically more of what I've been doing, but we all know that consistency over time is the key. Jen :D |
This is almost a way to keep us accountable, heavens Noooo!
I'm new round here but hoping not to be soon. So here goes... 1) Getting below the 200 (204lbs today) this is almost a cheap goal. Ok by mid august, 200. 2) To work on the mental stuff, the part of me that knows I'm super hot but forgets all the time. To remember that it will come off, I'm doing great and will continue to do so. 3) Keep drinking the water 3 litres a day (pardon the metric) 4) Finally, to keep doing what I'm doing food wise, it's working great, no funny stuff Ready Set Go Ladies!:jig: |
Here are my goals for August 2003:
1 - Continue to walk 45 minutes to 1 hour per day 2 - Eat when I am hungry. No binge eating to deal with stress 3 - Plan lunches (saves $$ and calories) 4 - Exercise 2X per week minimum, aiming for 3X 5 - loose 3 pounds this month - 186 takes me out of the "obese" category....I'll just be plain ol' "overweight"! Who would have thought that this would be appealing?? 6 - learn how to run. Tried a few weeks ago and pushed it too hard. Follow the 12 week plan outlined for walk/run: http://ford4women.chatelaine.com/run.../training.html 7 - drink 4 litres of water per day. 8 - stop criticizing my body...try to go easy on myself. Still trying to filter what I tell myself by asking "Would I ever say this to anybody else?" Whew! that's it....pretty ambitious this month! Nice to see so many people taking part in the August Challenge! Kris 261-188-155 |
A new month means new goals!!! Yeah!!! Alway's ready for a fresh start. I did okay last month but this month I'm shooting for 80 - 100% accomplishment. None of that 60 40 crap
1. Exercise 3 times a week. 2. Make smart eating choices (duhhhhhh!!! but sometimes I zone out on this one) 3. Drink more water. Try for 64 ounces a day but if not that then as much as I can. 4. Stay away from the icecream!!! 5. Lose a pound a week - Okay this time no mistakes that means I should be at 162.2 by the 31st. Not hard at all right?!?!? 6. Don't give up and continue to stay motivated. Okay everyone that's it. I'm pumped and ready to go for the month. Anyone want to join me in chanting "I'M READY! I'M READY! I'M READY!" ? |
I do! I do!
I'M READY, I'M READY, I'M READY! It's August 1st and so far so good! :D |
Hey guys,
I'm new here. I'm 22 and would like to lose 40 #'s by Jan 2004. So far I've lost 8 #'s but that was before the 40 # goal (lol) it would have been the 48 # goal, lol. Well here are my goals for August, I hope you guys hold me accountable for them, I really need you to!: 1) Exercise 5 days a week. 2) Eat until I'm satisfied, not until I'm full. 3) Drink more water. 4) Lose 8 #'s by the end of August. 5) No sodas. I'll try checking in each day to see our progress. Well guys thats it! Let's get cracking! |
Welcome Angel
Welcome to the fold, angel!
I'm fairly new round these parts too and everyone is super friendly! (and supportive) So what plan, lifestyle change, diet(bad work, bad word) are you on? Congrats on the 1st 8 lbs!! Tummy 220/203/145 |
Thanks Tummy!
I'm not really on a plan, I'm just trying to go by Weight Watchers and limit my carb intake. I must say I love to eat carbs, its a weakness for me. So far I've been controlling my portions and excercising. I have been excercising each day since Tuesday, which is a first for me. I've noticed how friendly people are by reading the postings, which motivated me to become a part of the group. Well I'll check back in on Monday, by the way I usually weigh in on Saturdays in order to monitor my progress. See yah, Sleepy |
Reporting In
Hi Everyone,
Good going for the most part...had a bit of a carb meltdown the other day for about 2 hours, but back on track other than that. So goal #2 still in tact, didn't get discouraged just figured out why it happened and to prevent the situation in the future. (I went out with one of those people who is really pushy with food, they just put it in front of you without asking if you're hungry!) Luckily only see her once a year so I'm good for another 365 days! Doing great on all other goals, even went backwoods hiking, who would have thought I could do that 17lbs ago? Woohoo! How's everyone else doing so far? Tummy 220/207(with carb meltdown)/145 SW/CW/GW |
Slow Start...
Alright...I am starting today, with my mother-in-law in the hosiptal until Saturday it's not been a good weeke to eat at home and cook... Starting today I am getting groceries and am back on the Atkins induction!! Both me and the hubby!! We both have gained only 1 pound since the induction (4 weeks ago) and the last 2 weeks have been so chaotic that we have serioiusly stumbled on our plan but we both want to get back in gear. I have had Heart Burn and Stomach issues for the last week since introducing carbs (mainly sugars) back into my diet...it's not worth it!!!
Angel... Welcome!!! We are at about the same starting weight and have about the same goals (as well as Tonic)...keep up the hard work and the results will be great!!! I still have a ways to go as well, but both of us can do it... |
Thanks golfergirl!
Today I did my excercise, which I'm so happy that I'm still on track. I've drank a lot of water I must say. Has the Atkins diet been working for you? I would so love to be in the 170's I think the day that happens I'm doing cartwheels all over the place, lol. Well hopefully all of us can reach our goals together. Could you give me an example of what you normally eat on the atkins diet. thanks, Sleepy |
Day 1 Much Better
Yesterday was much better than Sunday. I lost some of the carb pig out, down 2lbs this morning :) Now that I'm on atkins I must say this is a whole lot easier, OMG. Feeling good all around, still not exercising regularly but I think will be next month's goal, this month is turning out to be challenging enough.

Angel-
I Love Atkins...it is something that you will have to stick with long term (at least a modified version). In the induction we ate a ton of meat... brats (no buns), Taco salad, pork chops. We grilled as much as possible because it adds a better, fuller taste to the food. I had a hard time with no Ketchup so after the induction I introduced it back in on a smaller scale. Fish is great, as well as tuna. Keep heavy cream and cream cheese in your fridge. There are great recipes that are like a cream sauce over chicken. Check out the Low Carb Recipe Board, there are some good ideas. My husbands savior... Miracle Fluff 2 cups whipping cream 1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 box of sugar free jello, any flavor, I think cherry is the best 1 tsp. vanilla Whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form, set aside. In another bowl mix the jello with 1/2 cup boiling water until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and set aside. In a large bowl, cream the cream cheese and the vanilla. Slowly add the jello. Now add the whipping cream in small additions. Refrigerate for 2 hours. I am happy to be in the 170's, but need to get lower, this is heaviest I have been, I was always 130-150 (size 8-10) and I just kept gaining after marriage...he likes to eat and I like to cook so I started eating more too... But we've both started the Atkins Induction over again this week so we will see how good it goes. Good luck!!! |
I think that all low carb diets are awesome because they do work.
my august goals are: 45 mins cardio 5 times a week weight training 3 times a week low carbs!!! lots of water they seem so simple to write but hard to keep up with. I love losing weight with low carb diets, however I find I have no energy to do the exercise. does anyone else find that to be true? |
I had the no energy problem, in fact I would get dizzy and my legs got tired as soon as I tried to walk or run a lot. I was advised to take Potassium and Magnessium supplements...it took almost a week and then I felt wonderful!!! These really did help me to get my energy back...
|
okay so the supplements are the key. I have just started them a couple of days ago but I guess it takes a while to kick in.
thanks for the help...I can't wait to get back into the swing of things. I have been working out all summer and really started to enjoy being firmer but then when I went on the low carb diet it started to fade. I am lighter but not as firm and would love to get the firmness back!!! good luck to all! |
Hey guys,
I guess I will have to start my low carb diet next week because with the pasta I ate today, lol, it'll take a while to get rid of the pounds I gained. Thanks for the advice, I'm also taking vitamins so the dieting won't be so bad on my body. The thing is I have a problem with eating meat without carbs its so wierd to do so. I'll try getting rid of them in moderation though. see yah, sleepy |
I know what you mean about meat without carbs. even though I am a vegetarian and have been for years I can see how it woul dbe wierd. my husband can't eat anything without bread! even his veggies must at least be breaded like eggplant and stuff.
|
Angel Atkins really is fantastic, 2 days of Atkins and 4lbs gone. My doctor just coudn't believe it. Tons of energy and no cravings but granted I've been on a low carb program for going on 4 weeks so I had a head start. Three pounds till goal #1 for August:) I can't weight for weigh in on Saturday, omg i just said that! never before would I wait for that. And measurements are coming up on July 13 so I'll get to see the inches too, although I've already given clothes to Good Will cause they look sloppy already.
I took these really nasty before pictures in July, I could barely look at them, just click, print and file away but I can't wait to see the difference soon. Wow, having a super fantastic motivation day today!! Keep going strong everyone. Tummy |
Wow Tummy! You are going to be under that 200 mark any day now! Congrats! Keep up the good work with atkins and I know you will get there. keep me posted, I am cheering for you!
|
Hey guys,
I guess I need to start cracking with the low carbs diet, but first I should visit my doctor before I make the changes. I'm trying to make an appointment with her so we can set something up, I just don't want to hurt myself if I do this on my own. Tummy I bet those 3 #'s are gone and you're under 200 by now. The low carb diet seems to work fast, I like that about it, lol! ctagmire keep up the low carbs diet it's working pretty well for Tummy and you. I really need to start drinking more water, I know its one of my goals but its so hard when you're in the bathroom every other minute because of it, lol. I must say I have been excercising regularly so I'm proud of that. Well see you guys, Sleepy |
sleepyangel,
I know what you mean about the bathroom thing. I was a substitute teacher last year and tried so hard to drink enough water, but you cannot leave the classroom until you have a prep or at lunchtime. Most teachers only had one prep! So I had to save the drinking till after school and by then you really can't get in too much or you'll be up all night. however on the good side, they say if you "go" right away that means your body is very efficient or something. well find out about the carbs and try it if you can because it really does work. My mom went from 175 to 125 in like two months. And from what I see she is eating pretty well. |
My Goals for the rest of August
My Goals for the rest of August are:
1. Drink more water (doing good with this so far) 2. Exercize a minimum of 3X's per week 3. Take my multi-vitamin and thyroid medication daily. (no more skipping days) 4. No more icecream or fast food binges this month |
Hi ladies! I just got back from a conference in Kansas. Not too exciting.. but I am sooo tired now and have tons of work to do.
Anyways, I hope to get back on plan today. Sounds like everyone is doing well :) |
oh wow tonic, i am happy about your wedding. I just got married and it was sooo fun. 2.5 more pounds and you are there?? That's cool too.
A Fall wedding would be really nice, I had an early summer one and here there was way to much rain. -carolyn http://www.geocities.com/carolyntagmire |
Thanks Carolyn! I'm starting to get nervous about the planning.. but I think it will turn out ok. I think August 28th is the date.. but I have to run it by my family and his :)
So these darn 2.5 pounds.. it doesnt seem like much... but its hard .I am trying not to focus on the scale so much.. but I really would love to get down to 145 (or even 140!).. but I am a size 8 and pretty happy. My self image seems to change day by day... some days I think I am fat.. other days I think I am ok.. I just wish I could have some magic mirror that tells me what I really look like so I can stop being so hard on myself. Anyways.. I am gonna take a nap. Have a good day ladies! |
August 28th is my brothers birthday. That will be a nice date to wear a really cute summery dress.
I know what you mean about the being happy with yourself I am at 144 right now and about a size 8, but this is my starting weight because my doctor told me that I am overweight for my height and all. He also said that i need to lower my body fat and all that stuff. I am "supposed" to be at 125!!!! Well when you find that magic mirror please tell me where to find one too. |
Hey guys,
I went to the medical office at work and it said that I weighed 192 #'s! I sure can't believe that I think its wrong, I shouldnt' have gone there before eating since it just depressed me. Well when I came home it was at 188 #'s, now I don't know which one to believe. I must say that the one at work did look a bit off since it would never get to the center it would either fall down or go up if I moved the weight. This is so frustrating, I wish I had some sort of magic wand or something! see yah guys, sleepy |
I don't ever trust some of the medical offices scales. Trust what you think is right! I once had a doctor tell me I was 157 when I was only 135!!!! Oh to be 135 again.....
you know what's right. cheer up you are doing great!;) |
Do you have a good scale at home? I had a health-o-meter scale for about 2 years and I come to find out that it was 3 pounds off. Now I have a Tanita scale and it is right on the money with the doctors scales. Even though the scale was a little expensive it is worth it.
|
Hey guys,
Funny you should say that mocha because I do have a health-o-meter scale, but this is not what I want to hear about it, lol. I guess I need to get another type of scale I wonder if the digital ones are better than the dial ones. Well aside from that I've still been excercising each day since last week tuesday, which is a great accomplishment. I have to say I almost didn't do it this morning but I got up from bed and went ahead because I have to reach my goal!!!!! I'm telling you guys the day I reach 170 I'm doing cartwheels up and down the streets, lol. have a good weekend! -Sleepy |
Sleepyangel, have you "calibrated" your scale at home? Every couple of weeks, I put my ten pound weights on the scale and see how accurate it is. LOL, I know.. Not very scientific but it makes me feel better!
Ok, I'm getting a late start here but here are my August goals: 1. Exercise cardio 5-6 per week 2. Do Pilates 3 times per week 3. Drink at least 64 oz of water every day 4. Eat at least 2 veggies every day 5. Think of myself as a fabulous person who deserves only the best in life.. Wow, that's the tough one! Good luck girls! ~Crystal |
So far so good
Hi Ladies,
Goal progress, very good so far. Almost at 199, 1,5 pounds left to go! The mental stuff is coming along well and motivation is great too. And the food, well, after the little moment of weakness, i've been better than ever, having to lose those 4 pounds again was a great motivator to stay on program let me tell you. Hope everyone else is moving along nicely. Tummy |
well i am comming into this late but dont want to sit out this month :)
Im aiming to loose 5lbs by the end of the month im currently at 212lbs so i want to be at least 207lbs by the end of the month...small goal i know but its my first one so im aiming low untill i know whats possible rather than bum myself out :) I also want to drink more water...at least 2 litres a day to start with :) I walk twice a day for at least 30 mins each time with the dogs anyway so thats a hour of walker per day :) Keep that up too!! |
Goal one down, 3 more to go
Ok enough said, hit 199 today and just thrilled. New short term goal 189, I'm taking it 10lbs at a time. I'll see how far I get for the rest of the month and September's gonna be fabulous.
And thank you so much for all the support and kind words, you have no idea how much it's helped and will continue to be a huge part of this for me. :cp: for all of you. Tummy |
