Thanks golfergirl!

Today I did my excercise, which I'm so happy that I'm still on track. I've drank a lot of water I must say. Has the Atkins diet been working for you? I would so love to be in the 170's I think the day that happens I'm doing cartwheels all over the place, lol.
Well hopefully all of us can reach our goals together. Could you give me an example of what you normally eat on the atkins diet.

thanks,
Sleepy

Day 1 Much Better

Yesterday was much better than Sunday. I lost some of the carb pig out, down 2lbs this morning :) Now that I'm on atkins I must say this is a whole lot easier, OMG. Feeling good all around, still not exercising regularly but I think will be next month's goal, this month is turning out to be challenging enough.

Angel-

I Love Atkins...it is something that you will have to stick with long term (at least a modified version). In the induction we ate a ton of meat... brats (no buns), Taco salad, pork chops. We grilled as much as possible because it adds a better, fuller taste to the food. I had a hard time with no Ketchup so after the induction I introduced it back in on a smaller scale. Fish is great, as well as tuna. Keep heavy cream and cream cheese in your fridge. There are great recipes that are like a cream sauce over chicken. Check out the Low Carb Recipe Board, there are some good ideas.

My husbands savior... Miracle Fluff
2 cups whipping cream
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 box of sugar free jello, any flavor, I think cherry is the best
1 tsp. vanilla

Whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form, set aside.
In another bowl mix the jello with 1/2 cup boiling water until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream the cream cheese and the vanilla. Slowly add the jello. Now add the whipping cream in small additions.
Refrigerate for 2 hours.

I am happy to be in the 170's, but need to get lower, this is heaviest I have been, I was always 130-150 (size 8-10) and I just kept gaining after marriage...he likes to eat and I like to cook so I started eating more too... But we've both started the Atkins Induction over again this week so we will see how good it goes.

Good luck!!!

I think that all low carb diets are awesome because they do work.

my august goals are:
45 mins cardio 5 times a week
weight training 3 times a week
low carbs!!!
lots of water

they seem so simple to write but hard to keep up with.
I love losing weight with low carb diets, however I find I have no energy to do the exercise. does anyone else find that to be true?

golfergirl 08-05-2003 04:55 PM

I had the no energy problem, in fact I would get dizzy and my legs got tired as soon as I tried to walk or run a lot. I was advised to take Potassium and Magnessium supplements...it took almost a week and then I felt wonderful!!! These really did help me to get my energy back...

ctagmire 08-05-2003 05:05 PM

okay so the supplements are the key. I have just started them a couple of days ago but I guess it takes a while to kick in.

thanks for the help...I can't wait to get back into the swing of things.

I have been working out all summer and really started to enjoy being firmer but then when I went on the low carb diet it started to fade. I am lighter but not as firm and would love to get the firmness back!!!

good luck to all!

Hey guys,

I guess I will have to start my low carb diet next week because with the pasta I ate today, lol, it'll take a while to get rid of the pounds I gained. Thanks for the advice, I'm also taking vitamins so the dieting won't be so bad on my body. The thing is I have a problem with eating meat without carbs its so wierd to do so. I'll try getting rid of them in moderation though.

see yah,
sleepy

ctagmire 08-05-2003 10:16 PM

I know what you mean about meat without carbs. even though I am a vegetarian and have been for years I can see how it woul dbe wierd. my husband can't eat anything without bread! even his veggies must at least be breaded like eggplant and stuff.

Angel Atkins really is fantastic, 2 days of Atkins and 4lbs gone. My doctor just coudn't believe it. Tons of energy and no cravings but granted I've been on a low carb program for going on 4 weeks so I had a head start. Three pounds till goal #1 for August:) I can't weight for weigh in on Saturday, omg i just said that! never before would I wait for that. And measurements are coming up on July 13 so I'll get to see the inches too, although I've already given clothes to Good Will cause they look sloppy already.

I took these really nasty before pictures in July, I could barely look at them, just click, print and file away but I can't wait to see the difference soon.

Wow, having a super fantastic motivation day today!!

Keep going strong everyone.

Wow Tummy! You are going to be under that 200 mark any day now! Congrats! Keep up the good work with atkins and I know you will get there. keep me posted, I am cheering for you!

sleepyangel508 08-06-2003 07:57 PM

Hey guys,
I guess I need to start cracking with the low carbs diet, but first I should visit my doctor before I make the changes. I'm trying to make an appointment with her so we can set something up, I just don't want to hurt myself if I do this on my own. Tummy I bet those 3 #'s are gone and you're under 200 by now. The low carb diet seems to work fast, I like that about it, lol! ctagmire keep up the low carbs diet it's working pretty well for Tummy and you. I really need to start drinking more water, I know its one of my goals but its so hard when you're in the bathroom every other minute because of it, lol. I must say I have been excercising regularly so I'm proud of that.

Well see you guys,
Sleepy

ctagmire 08-07-2003 10:50 AM

sleepyangel,
I know what you mean about the bathroom thing. I was a substitute teacher last year and tried so hard to drink enough water, but you cannot leave the classroom until you have a prep or at lunchtime. Most teachers only had one prep! So I had to save the drinking till after school and by then you really can't get in too much or you'll be up all night. however on the good side, they say if you "go" right away that means your body is very efficient or something. well find out about the carbs and try it if you can because it really does work. My mom went from 175 to 125 in like two months. And from what I see she is eating pretty well.

Hi ladies! I just got back from a conference in Kansas. Not too exciting.. but I am sooo tired now and have tons of work to do.

Anyways, I hope to get back on plan today.

Sounds like everyone is doing well :)

ctagmire 08-07-2003 03:19 PM

oh wow tonic, i am happy about your wedding. I just got married and it was sooo fun. 2.5 more pounds and you are there?? That's cool too.
A Fall wedding would be really nice, I had an early summer one and here there was way to much rain.
