Tactics for avoiding emotional/stress eating???

  • I'm actually currently doing great & eating only when truly hungry, but I know life creeps in on us all & sometimes the stress just gets to us! What are some good ways to avoid eating due to emotions or stress?

    *My favorite way to avoid unnecessary eating is to write in my journal--it keeps me more aware.

    Would love to hear some good ideas from ya'll!

  • I take a walk...it calms me down and gives me ample time to think about things for myself!
  • I don't really have an activity to pull me away from emotional eating/craving situations. I usually just remind myself over and over again of how important my weight loss is to me and how terrible I will feel if I disrupt my diet.

    Of course, I'm not perfect and quite often I will then convince myself that "oh, you've come so far, a pizza won't kill you", but I always feel guilty after and it doesn't seem to help much when I'm found in the same situation again.

    When I'm craving food really bad and am emotional I will often curl up in bed and go to sleep!
