I seem to do a lot less than some people around here, but for now it's working for me so maybe I'm not the best example! I do anywhere between 20 mins to 50 mins, 4-6 times a week. I mainly do cardio, with a bit of strength training in there - which is usually just adding hand weights to a cardio dvd, or doing a specific strength training dvd that uses hand weights, or the muscle toning exercises on Wii Fit Plus (which may or may not be useful haha).
I restarted exercise properly last week. Previously I had been doing the odd 30 min (wii fit or walking/jogging) here and there but I was getting no where so I joined a gym to keep me focused.
I aim to do 45-60 mins a day 6 days a week. Some days I'll do 30. Like last week I did an hour a day in the gym but it was closed on Sunday so I did half an hour wii fit.
I do 1 hour - 5 days a week. I walk/run until I'm 30 minutes down the road and then turn around and walk/run it back. In the classes that I'm in, I'm taught that you must burn at least 2500 calories a week in exercise. You should also consider exercise to be going out dancing, playing frisbee at the park, swimming at the lake.
I do group classes about 6 times a week and they last between 45 mins to an hour and i usually do about 15 minutes on an elliptical either before or after the class.
20-40 minutes, depends on the video.
3 times per week. 90% of time I do cardio - just sometimes I do strength training even though my goal is toning but I just hate strength training.
My result is super slow, but at least it keeps me in maintenance range.
I do about 60-90 minutes 5x a week. But as you get fitter you will be able to train for about an hour 5x a week, which is sufficient. So don't stress about it, in time as your fitness level improves so will your training...
I usually do between 60-90 minutes 5 or 6 times a week....but usually I stay between, so 75 minutes. I say it all the time because it's an issue with me, but I need to work in some more strength training. It's definitely pretty much all cardio work right now.
Short & sweet. I like to get all of my exercise in between classes, which leaves me about an hour after I get changed etc. So I'll either do a 45 min group class or run for half an hour and lift weights for 20-30 mins. That's how I did things last year and I had great success with it.
This year I'll be switching it up with a 30 min run in the mornings and weights or a workout class in the afternoons for about the same length of time. Sitting around in the gym for two hours is not my idea of a good time, lol. I roughly base my workouts on Body For Life and he's all about getting in there, blasting muscles, and then going home.
I try to go every day but it never happens.. I usually go about 3-5 days a week.. When I do go to the gym I aim for an hour of cardio.. though sometimes its only 30mins of cardio.. and then I do weight training.. every other day (that I go) I do upper body/ lower body... and I do Abs everyday!
Wow. I'm so glad this post exsists. I am just getting back into exercise, currently I'm on the 5 minute rule. I have to exercise for a minimum for 5 minutes a day, which usually means I end up doing 15 minutes. Paramedic, thanks for setting up this thread, reading about all these different routines is really motivating, and has given me some good tips.
Unless there's something going on that makes me settle for a short workout, I do at least 60 minutes per day. If it's a pure cardio day, I do an hour of cardio. If it's a strength training day, I do at least 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes of strength. Mind you this is minimum, I'll often do a one hour workout video and then do 15 minutes on the elliptical too, and lately I've been taking 30-40 minute walks three to four times per week.
Right now I am at @70 mins 6x a week, but I just increased it. I pretty much split the time btwn 2 cardio machines, and i try to do intervals for the majority of the time to keep me focused. On days I run/walk I dont go for that long however-today i ran 2.5 miles and walked for awhile and it worked out to be @50-running at all wears me OUT! I do all cardio now, when I drop more weight I'll add in weights I'm sure. I also can't drive myself, but if i could i know i'd be doing more time b/c i'd add in workout classes, but for now I have to make do w/just the machines (which at times bore the #@!* out of me!)
Back in the day when I first dropped a good amount of weight I only ran 2 miles a day 5/6x a week. (so 25ish mins of cardio. i have to do more then that now!)
I do 30-40 mins of cardio about 5 times a week. This has helped me maintain. Prior to maintenance, I would do 1.5 hours 6 times a week. Mostly cardio again, and just a bit of weight training. (I hate weights)
