Hi there,
I think there was a thread on here from late August that was about the same topic titled "weight loss for babies" started by 1yr2mkovr who still posts pretty much daily in this section (I'm a huge lurker not a huge poster).
Losing weight before becoming pregnant is definitely high up there on the list of motivating priorities. I was losing weight starting this past July so when my husband and I would try next year I would be at a healthier weight and I would feel a lot better about myself. I want to be one of those tiny pregnant ladies with a distinct bump and not the lady where they don't know if you're actually pregnant or just obese.
I actually found out I was pregnant in August, so took that month off from weight loss to maintain with upped calories, not sure if the little weight loss just made me extra fertile that much or what (we were surprised but excited). I sadly had a miscarriage and lost the baby at 6 weeks and know it's even more important for me to be at a healthy weight before becoming pregnant again. My OB says it's nothing I did and happens in up to a quarter of pregnancies, but I'm just so determined to be at a healthy weight to not leave anything up to chance for the next try. I'm still kind of sad so not sure when I'll be ready to try again, probably not till next summer at the very earliest.
I think it's fantastic that you're choosing to do the same and work hard to be healthier before trying to conceive. You're definitely putting yourself at an advantage losing weight before hand and decreasing the risks to yourself and the baby (yes I know women can be overweight or obese and have healthy pregnancies but statistically there are greater risks).
Like I said I'm more of a lurker not so much a poster but I would definitely volunteer to be your buddy and check in every once in a while if you would like.
