Hi there,

I think there was a thread on here from late August that was about the same topic titled "weight loss for babies" started by 1yr2mkovr who still posts pretty much daily in this section (I'm a huge lurker not a huge poster).

Losing weight before becoming pregnant is definitely high up there on the list of motivating priorities. I was losing weight starting this past July so when my husband and I would try next year I would be at a healthier weight and I would feel a lot better about myself. I want to be one of those tiny pregnant ladies with a distinct bump and not the lady where they don't know if you're actually pregnant or just obese.

I actually found out I was pregnant in August, so took that month off from weight loss to maintain with upped calories, not sure if the little weight loss just made me extra fertile that much or what (we were surprised but excited). I sadly had a miscarriage and lost the baby at 6 weeks and know it's even more important for me to be at a healthy weight before becoming pregnant again. My OB says it's nothing I did and happens in up to a quarter of pregnancies, but I'm just so determined to be at a healthy weight to not leave anything up to chance for the next try. I'm still kind of sad so not sure when I'll be ready to try again, probably not till next summer at the very earliest.

I think it's fantastic that you're choosing to do the same and work hard to be healthier before trying to conceive. You're definitely putting yourself at an advantage losing weight before hand and decreasing the risks to yourself and the baby (yes I know women can be overweight or obese and have healthy pregnancies but statistically there are greater risks).

Like I said I'm more of a lurker not so much a poster but I would definitely volunteer to be your buddy and check in every once in a while if you would like.

Hi there! My weight is holding my partner and I back from trying. I want to be healthy first, and I want my partner to be healthy too. He has the baby belly look already... I am giving myself a good 1.5-2 years to loose it all, I really want to loose it with in a year but not sure how well that will happen. I would love to be your buddy with this if you are interested.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Sydney next August, so baby plans are coming after that. Either way I need to lose weight before I concieve. I'd love to be a lower end of the healthy range for my height. To achieve this I need to loose at least foour stone!

All I can say is roll on the weight loss, roll on Sydney and roll on baby bump. I so want a child!

First of all tons of luck to your TTC in January! I am not going to be TTC for a long time, if ever again.. I have two little ones. I think it is great that you are focusing on your weight loss now and not while you are pregnant like I did. I hated worrying about every little thing I ate.. I gain weight very easily.
Tons of luck your way!!!

I'm trying to lose some weight before I try to get pregnant myself. I want to start trying in about a year. I'd love a buddy to help keep me on track (and help do the same)!

Hubby and I have been TTC for almost 2 years. Doctors have determined that the only think stopping us is my weight. So, goodbye weight, hello being a mommy. I have gone on BC and have set a goal of getting to around 120 pounds in 2 yrs and maintaining for 6 months to a year before TTC again. Would def love to be your buddy on theis jourey we are both embarking on.
