Default Make-up vs Weight Question

I don't wear much makeup, and never learned how to apply it, so I'm pretty unconfident even when I'd like to wear it for special occasions. I've decided one of my 'rewards' is going to be a makeup consultation at Sephora. I'm considering setting this as my 160 reward since that's a big milestone for me (the lowest weight I've ever been as an adult). However, I don't think it'll be my final goal, which is probably going to be more like 150.

Would ~10 pounds make much of a difference for something like makeup colors and application? I really just want to go in and get ideas and instructions on a very 'natural' light makeup look, but I want something that will go best with how my face looks when I'm in maintenance...

I suppose a lot would depend on if my face thins out more before or after those last 10 pounds? Maybe I need another reward for 160 just in case... but that's really the only thing I can think of right now. Probably new clothes as well, but for that I definitely want to wait until maintenance.

Edited to add: Ok I came up with something else I want. An iPad . That is actually pretty darn motivating... But it's a lot of money. That said I've been wanting a tablet for years, so, it might be time to spring for it, and if it would get me over this hump of waffling at 180 for months, it'd be worth it...

Concerning your desire for a tablet---I was in the market for a tablet about two years ago. After researching I decided against the IPad and decided to purchase the Azus Transformer 300T. Earlier this month I purchased the keyboard that turns this tablet into a small laptop. Can I say...I love it! Check it out on Amazon. That's where I bought mine for less money than an IPad.

In my opinion, if you're going to go for the natural look, 10lbs shouldn't really make a difference, because neutral tends to look good at every weight. When you start getting into vibrant colors and whatnot though is when you need to be careful, I think. Since you want to use an iPad as your reward instead, I suggest checking out Youtube for makeup tutorials! There is an insane amount of 'beauty gurus' that will give you easy to understand, step by step advice - absolutely free! Try searching terms like 'natural makeup tutorial'. (My favorite beauty channel is tesschristine123) Not only will you learn how to apply it yourself, you can try out as many looks as you'd like until you find one you love.

As far as the makeup thing, ten pounds shouldn't make a difference. As missjean said, maybe it would if you were going for something dramatic or super vibrant, but with a natural look things should be pretty much the same.

On the other front, there are a lot of other really nice tablets out there if you don't want to commit the money to an iPad, shop around a little.

The 10 lb will not make much of a difference in your face as far as makeup goes. Time will, though, from what I've heard. After you finish your "big" weight loss, fat will redistribute over the next year or so. But you would get a lot of benefit out of the makeup lesson - it's not going to change that dramatically.

My halfway to goal "reward" was an iPad Unfortunately, my 9 year old thinks it belongs to him!

Like the other ladies said, 10 pounds shouldn't make much of a difference. The only thing that might change is your contouring. Since I've lost weight, I don't contour my cheekbones anymore (don't have to)

But even with the consultation, you should definitely make sure you study how to apply makeup on your own, that's always your best bet. The consultants will never know your face like you do. There are lots of great youtube videos and books that can really help you. Here are some of my favorite books.

IMAN: The Beauty of Color
Plastic Surgery Without the Surgery: The Miracle of Makeup Techniques
Making Faces by Kevin Aucoin

Thanks guys! Sounds like it shouldn't be a big deal... my face redistributing fat over the next year, well, I don't think I can wait that long but I guess we'll see how it goes. :P

I definitely want to go with 'natural', I don't think I could feel myself wearing anything super bright or standing out. Might be fun for Halloween or something, the only time I wouldn't feel silly trying it around people who've known me for years.

I'm pretty excited! Hopefully I'll be getting that makeup consultation early next year

I think you should go no matter what goal you hit I believe in wearing make up; I always feel more confident and sexy, no matter what the scale says that day!
