which diet really works

  • which diet plan works the best and cheap?
  • I'm with Monique on this one...I believe that it is best to look at over-hauling your eating and exercise habits and see it as a lifestyle change, rather than a diet. I think that this is why so many people gain back the weight when they go off of their "diet".

I have found Weight Watchers to be a good program (but quite expensive). They don't really teach anything that you couldn't figure out for yourself, but it is nice to be able to compare notes with others who are loosing weight. I am finding that I can get the same support from this on-line group. It is a great place to post questions and ask for advice!

If you are planning to count calories, you can usually get the information on line, or from a book (I have found some good ones at the public library or used book stores).

I really believe that the "rules" of watching your weight are as simple as: Consume less calories than you expend. I have found that it is also important to drink a lot of water and eat more vegetables.

Best of luck to you! Feel free to post your questions on the board...I have found that people are quite willing to answer questions and give advice! Welcome!

  • I haven't joined an actualy plan.

I signed on to www.calorieking.com and made a weekley menu.

I started to eat better. I limited my caloric intake. I learned what a portion really is. I am still learning...

I wish I had the cash to join a regimented program. But I don't. And I really wanted to lose weight. SO, I DID! And I am.
  • I've done low carb and it worked really well for me. I am not suggesting low-carb for everyone.. because personally I can't live a restricted life like that (I am referring to induction). But the best thing induction did for me.. was break my addiction to regular coke. Switching to diet (which eliminates a ton of carbs) was the best thing for me. I have since varied my diets between induction and moderately low-carb.. to just low-fat/low-cal. I have had sucess with everything.. but low-carb seemed to make me lose the weight a tiny bit faster.

    Anyways.. just my two cents
  • hanks for the advice, i appreciate it. I am goingto try the Not the mayo clinic diet, I did it in high school and worked so hopefully it will get me going.
