July Chat Thread

Hello everyone! Happy July! I guess everyone has been busy with it being the weekend before the 4th. DH is off for a few days and will go back to work the 5th. Chat it up! :):dancer:

Iconised Ghost 07-02-2012 05:43 AM

Just bought some black rice- anyone have any good ideas for what to do with it? I saw a recipe for rice pudding with black rice, but I'm thinking maybe I can make something breakfast-y with it...hmmm

Laneyy 07-02-2012 08:05 AM

Seems like a good time to get in on this. I didn't want to jump right in the middle of last months chat.

Anyways... I'M BACK!! I missed you girls so much, and now that I'm back on track (life got in the way, and yet somehow I maintained through months of eating nothing but crap) I need the support more than ever. I don't think anything new has happened since I posted here last, though I can't even remember when that really was. I'm guessing it was sometime last summer. Since then I've had a breakup with a boyfriend, a promotion, a breakup with a best friend, dropped out of college (again) and lots of other stuff. Honestly though, it's all for the better. I feel like (mostly, anyways) I'm in a good spot in my life right now, considering.

I'm debating getting a gym membership. I pretty much have everything I need at home, but I'd love to be able to run, and I can't exactly do that in the neighborhood I live in, and my treadmill isn't exactly up to the challenge. So do I spend the money on a membership? Or do I put that money towards paying off my student loans, since they're going to have to start being paid back in November or so?

---

Iconised - It's good to see you still here! I wish I knew what to do with the rice... I don't cook. :(

Riestrella 07-02-2012 09:23 AM

Hey everyone!

Things are going good with me. I've hit HEALTHY and I've been maintaining that despite being a lazy poo for the last week. I dunno, I hit a milestone then I just decide to take a break! Bad me!

Today is the LAST DAY at the job I'm currently at. I'm not sure what to feel, because on the one hand I'm so happy to be leaving (I work at a cinema, not fulfilling at all) because I hate the customers, but I LOVE the people who work there! I've been there for a year and 4 months and I feel like I've really settled into the cinema family. I'll be sad not to see those faces on a regular basis!

I also feel nervous because I know why I'm leaving is to start preparation for my move to Japan. I can't believe I'll be there next month! Luckily I have an awesome boyfriend waiting for me to arrive so that makes things so much easier. Being unemployed and going through the job search/interview process again is going to suck though. I hate interviews!

Thursday I'll be going on a family holiday for a week to Menorca, an island off the West coast of Spain. I haven't been on a family holiday since I was 18, and I'm now 23 so it's going to be fun. I'm happy to have hit the healthy BMI mark for it! Bikini ready, whoop whoop!

laneyy - Welcome back! Sounds like you've gone through a lot, but I'm happy that you feel it's all for the best. As for your gym query...man, that's tough. I don't like gyms but I also have the option of running outside. If you feel like you can honestly get a great workout done at home then don't waste the money. Why not trial home workouts? Then if you find yourself slipping or you really want to go on a treadmill at a gym, then get the pass. See how it plays out.

Hiiii

HELLLO!

I am a returning user....it’s been about a year since, I have logged on. I was losing well last year before I found out I was pregnant. Well now Cam is here and 4 months old. I figure it's time to pick up where I left off. I haven’t weighed in about a week. I have reached my pre pregnancy weight so that won’t be a problem. I have already seen several forums I WILL be posting in, especially the daily weigh in. Getting on the scale frequently motivates me.

I am anxious to see what this ticker says once I post, I will make updated tickers once I get my exact weight in the am. I need to restock my fridge with good stuff. Also, debating on ordering Turbo Fire. I live in Louisiana and walking or running just simply isn’t on my radar right now, it’s just toooo hot here!

Looking forward to seeing you all around. IM EXCITED!

riestrella Wow, you have a journey ahead of you! Sounds fun, exciting and scary all at the same time!

lanney I see you are returning as well! Kudos to us! I totally understand your money debates. Same here, student loans will be on my back again soon, if I don’t start this MHA program soon. So for me and my budget, I’m just debating on which home work out to invest in.

crazygurl61 07-02-2012 10:35 AM

Hi Everyone! I lost .5 in June which was a bit dissapointing but good considering I have been out of town so much. I am on vacation and return on Thursday. I am ready to get back to a normal routine and hopefully loose 4 lbs this month!

Be back to chat more later!

Ash2007 07-02-2012 04:18 PM

Laneyy, I know how you feel I have been thinking about getting a gym membership myself but I know money could be used else where..

Riestrella- congrats on hitting a healthy BMI and good luck with your move to japan. that sounds exciting! :)

lisa34t- congrats on your new baby! I am sure you will be moving along in no time!

crazygurl61- .5 is better than nothing :) I have had a crazy month with june as well, lots of vacations and also our anniversary was on the 30th. It has been HOT here so little to no exercise.

I am doing pretty well.. I guess. the weight is still coming off pretty well.. considering like I said my exercise has been limited. It is so so hot here.. I think once it hits about 6 though, I do not see a reason why I can not go.. we have acquired two extra kids till July 20th.. (my husbands sisters are visiting from Indiana) I am pretty tired after caring for 4 kids all day long.. not to mention emotionally exhausted. I have been really thinking about getting a gym membership so I could just go by myself without even my husband.. get away from all the kids for a hour a day lol! And no 108 degree heat index in the gym. The membership here is for a year and it is $100.. I do not think that is too bad. My husband already gets in free as a perk to his job..he has never gone lol. That is my July so far... I would love to rant about how I am going insane with the extra teenagers and their laziness but I will spare ya'll. In case anyone was wondering where I was.. I am still going for my goals.. just more quiet than usual. I will try and check in here more..

Katbot24 07-02-2012 11:08 PM

Hi!

I'd like to chat more this month. I lost 4.4 last month, which I'm happy about! Only 6 more weeks till Vegas, my gosh! I have a cute little playboy monokini Im taking with, I have another swimsuit I used to wear....

This one:

http://www.2011swimsuit.com/sinful-w...khftlg4d8njmb6

But it will be a long while before I wear that baby again.

1Hope 07-03-2012 10:03 AM

Hello, I feel rather awkward posting as I feel I'm the only guy and stand out like a sore thumb and obviously cannot talk about what bikini I want to wear etc lol. :o

Aaaaanyway I will just say a couple of things, I started Tony Hortons power 90 a week ago and am adding in other various exercises, I managed to lose 6lbs my first week and tomorrow is my 2nd week weigh and I'm nervous as I pray for a loss of any kind, I really don't want to of gained as I have worked really hard. I plan on pushing it hard today to increase my chances of a loss! Rawr! :)

Laneyy 07-03-2012 10:35 AM

1Hope It's okay, we like having boys around ;)

Ash2007 It's ridiculously hot up here, too. I think we were up to 106º last week or before. It's been in the 90s this week though. When I lived in Texas though, the heat was different. In El Paso it was dry and bearable, in San Antonio it was more humid. And up here, forget it. The air is so thick and humid up here sometimes you feel like you can't breathe.

----

So I'm still debating about joining the gym. I have Jillian's 30 Day Shred, so I was going to start that, but I live in an apartment building and I don't think my neighbors will appreciate my fat *** doing jumping jacks on the second story. I have a neighbor/coworker who has agreed to teach me the ways of Crossfit, which she and her boyfriend are really into. And another friend who will walk/jog with me after work whenever we can.

I've decided that I can't just sit back and wait for everything to happen, I need to be the change.

And on that note, I've modified my goal just slightly, to make it an even 100lbs from start to finish, but I don't want to just weigh 128lbs. I want to be fit and active and not feel like I'm dying when I jog or run for more than 30 seconds.

sgregg 07-03-2012 03:29 PM

Hey everyone!

It's been a rough couple of days for me. I just lack the motivation to keep trying...ugh...stuck in my rut. Anyway, I'll dig myself out eventually. As for now, I'll just keep coming around to check up on everyone else's progress. :)

Icon - I have no idea what you can do with black rice. How's it different than white rice besides just being a different color? Did you figure anything out?

Laneyy - Welcome back! About the gym membership...if you think it will make you commit more to working out then I would definitely do it...if it's not that far from you. I was a member of a gym for a while, but being in school and the location of the gym was a problem for me and I wasted a ton of money. Anyway, I hope you can figure out something soon.

Rie - I hate interviews too!...ugh! Anyway, sending good vibes your way! Hope you can find something soon! And the whole change of life will be a great thing for you! I'm excited for you. Make sure you keep us updated, miss ma'am! :)

Lisa - Welcome back! I can so relate with you on the too hot weather since I'm just above you in MS. :) It's ridiculous around here! And the humidity doesn't help either...ugh! Anyway, congrats on your little one! I miss those days. My little one is 14 months now and it just seems like yesterday when she was 4 months! Ahhh! Anyway, looking forward to chatting with you and learning a little more about you.

Ash
- good to see that you are still around! :) Watching kids can be very tiring. I think $100 a year is a VERY good deal! I would definitely do it if you can get away. It may help keep you insane. Ha!

1Hope - :Welcome: I've never heard of that exercising program. Maybe you'll have a loss! Keep us updated!

I had an interview today. I think it went well, but my lack of experience with older kids is what is going to hurt me because this was for a position at a school for middle and high school students. It's called the high school advancement academy. It's for students who are 2 years or more behind in school. It's designed to help those students get up to the grade level that they should be in. Eventually the students can go on to the high school. Anyway, since all my college experience is with elementary students I don't have any with older kids. But, hopefully, they will give me a chance and I can learn as I go.

chel3fsea 07-03-2012 04:32 PM

Hi all!

It has been not a good few months for me, but it's getting better! I started being ~irregular in March, which kind of screws with weight loss, April started up my eczema as bad as it has ever been, I got thrown off a horse a week and a half ago, and these wildfires have really put a cramp in our style. Luckily, no bones have been broken and we are blessed that nothing of ours was lost in the fire. Also, the Waldo Canyon fire is now 70% contained! Yay!

The past week or two FINALLY my tummy has been muuuuch more regular, which is awesome. I'm back down to my lowest again (187) so 45 pounds off... It's so odd, without tracking for the most part and with all these traumas going on, I've only been bouncing between three pounds. I suppose I've ingrained the whole pointsplus system to the point where I can at least not GAIN while not being "good"? Unfortunately, I'll be moving back to the wonderful south and all of its amazing foods in less than a month...so we'll see.

Hotaruchan 07-04-2012 08:44 AM

Hullo guys...
I was in Tokyo visiting a friend for the beginning of the month and haven't been doing so hot on the scale since coming back...I didn't gain too much despite a weekend of debauchery (it seemed only fitting since she'll be going back to France and I have no idea when I'll see her next), but my TOM is being obnoxious and refusing to go away (stupid PCOS is stupid...). I've been going on obscenely long bike rides all week despite the nasty heat and humidity and had 4 super active lessons with 1st graders today (my JTE commented that it looked like I'd gone swimming when I went to the staff room after the second class) where I was jumping around like an idiot and dancing for essentially the entire 45 minute period each time. On the plus side, the kids loved the crap out of it. On the not-so-plus side, I felt like I desperately needed a shower ALL DAY.

IC: sorry, I can barely cook normal rice >.< Try allrecipes.com ...they tend to have a ton of recipes and the comments and reviews are super helpful.

Rie: I know it's scary as heck at the moment, but I'm sure something will come along in the end. Keep in mind if you're going to be coming in August that that's the absolute hottest time of the year in Japan and it's horrendously humid. Lightweight materials and undershirts are your friends. Also, Japanese deodorants don't have antiperspirants, so you might want to pack extra.

Lisa and Laneyy: Welcome back!

Ash: Just reading about dealing with extra kids makes me tired...hopefully you get some well-deserved rest and free time soon.

Crazy: That close to goal, .5 lbs is nothing to sneeze at! Keep at it and I'm sure you'll get the 4 you're hoping for this month.

Katbot: Jealous...I've never tried a monokini, but I can't seem to find anything but one piece school swim suits (I get looks like I'm a crazy pedophile if I ask about those) or bikinis. I felt so awkward wearing a bikini in public even though it looked better than I would have thought.

1Hope: Welcome. Don't worry...we don't bite too hard.

sgregg: Good luck! Fingers crossed that you get it. Honestly you learn more by actually working with kids than you would from reading about it and taking courses...I hadn't done any teaching before my current job and the teachers and kids both seem pretty impressed so far.

Chel3: Stay safe...I'm so glad that it's generally wet and/or cool enough in New England for us to avoid most stuff like that. A forest in my town lost something like 25 acres to a fire a few months ago, but that's the worst we've had that I can recall. (Also, your username made me want to play Portal...it's probably entirely unrelated, but my brain makes stupid connections :p )

1Hope 07-04-2012 09:19 AM

sgregg Good luck with the interview I hope it all works out for you, stay positive, you seem determined to me and like a nice person which is something important to many people, I hope they give you the chance.

Hotaruchan Lol, thanks, I don't think I would taste all that good anyway so you may not want to bite at all. :D It sounds like you had a lovely time with your friend in Tokyo and made the most if it which I would have done too. Its good you're keeping active, I can't imagine the energy it must take to keep up with a load of little kids, I'd probably pass out after the first 15 minutes haha.

Laneyy Thanks and that's good because I do plan on sticking around. :^: I know it must suck to have something you want to do ruined because of circumstances such as living above someone but its great that you're finding a way around it and trying other things. Keep that fire burning inside, do your best and I'm sure you will be where you want to be and as fit as you you want.

It was my second week weigh in today and I lost another 3lbs so that's 9lbs in 2 weeks which is good although I wanted a higher number this week but maybe I'm being greedy. I got invited to go MMA training with my brother and his friend on Friday but I am far to anxious for it at the moment (I suffer with severe social anxiety) I was doing well with it and pushing myself but my image has really made me go backwards along with other problems and I'm finding just posting here and leaving the house quite a battle at the moment.

lisa34t 07-04-2012 09:50 AM

July 4th

Well today is the 4th! I don’t expect much to go on for me today; mostly everything I eat today will be grilled. I haven’t quite figured out my game plan for this revamped journey , but I will figure it out! Luckily, I have extra funds, because eating right is usually a little pricier for me than the normal. I have decided to do turbo fire....although, I have the 30 shred, but I recall it being boring :?: I may try it again before i spend $120 on turbo fire, because hellllooo, that is like 6 cases of diapers!!!!!! LOL Anyway home you all have a safe holiday.

Ash2007- Whew!!! Sounds like you have you hands full!!! I don’t normally recommend gyms, but sounds like you need a daily stress reliever!

sgregg- Congrats on the interview, that’s speaks volume alone. Stay positive.

chel3fsea- Moving back to the South! Woohoo! Lol, born and raised in Louisiana, I know the food battles ahead of you. Stay focused, I’m sure you will make it....not saying it won’t be hard.

Hotaruchan
- Sounds like some pretty active

Katbot24 07-04-2012 12:10 PM

Ash: could you....use your husband's membership card? Or maybe see about transferring his benefits to you?

1Hope Boys are always welcome :) and what do you mean you can't talk about what you're going to wear?! Some men I know, my fiance included, are HUGE prisses. We've been to like 3 different stores trying to find the 'perfect' pair of board shorts for him to wear to Vegas.

Hotaruchan Tokyo is amazing! I spent a month there getting my blackbelt when I was a teenager. What district did you stay at? Do they still have those epic ice cream vending machines which give soft serve ice cream in a cup? I want to go back someday but right now finances are tied up in wedding stuff, ha! Also, I'm sure you looked just fine in a bikini :)

-----------------------------------------------

So I FINALLY dropped 2 lbs after 3 days of sitting at 218.2. I ate well one of those days, another day was beer, burgers and pringles (I know, bad Kat, BAD!) and the next morning I was sure it would go up...nope 218.2. I'm hoping to lose another 2-3 lbs before the week is done but I might be dreaming on that one, ha! Also, my university is stupid when it comes to pool hours. I've been meaning to go swimming forever but their hours are like....one hour in the morning at 8. 45 minutes at noon and occasionally, 3 hours after 8pm. And never on weekends. Because, y'know, students and staff (and I'm both!) wouldn't want to go swimming....after work or on weekends, right?

1Hope 07-04-2012 01:21 PM

Katbot24 It was meant to be a joke because I don't wear bikinis lol, I always did suck when it came to humour. :p But on the subject I have never been into what I wear much to the displeasure of people I happen to be around. My fashion sense is non existent, I find it really hard putting nice clothes on because I find myself so unattractive. Its always been a problem of mine, having BDD really doesn't help the matter. It would be really nice to one day go out with someone and feel worthy to wear some really nice clothes, maybe one day.

I wish I could go and have some booze, crisps and burgers ooooo heaven lol, I'm sure you stand a good chance to lose those 2-3lbs if you behave yourself haha.

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to steal your little dashes so I can separate my post like you.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Just finished my power 90 weight workout and had a shower, surprisingly I have energy left over which is something I couldn't say last week! :carrot:

sgregg 07-04-2012 02:05 PM

1Hope - Taking care of yourself definitely will boost your self-esteem. Hang in there!! And yay for energy that you didn't notice last week! That definitely shows your health is improving! Woohoo!

Katbot - My husband is the same way when it comes to finding clothes and shoes. He's so picky about it all sometimes and I promise, he has more clothes and shoes than I do. Haha!! Gotta love 'em tho! :) About the pool...do you think they are just having trouble finding people to staff it during those days/hours? Maybe you could ask about it and see if you could actually work it on the weekends and then maybe get a few swims in too!

Hotaru - being with the 1st graders sounds like lots of fun! Take advantage of that extra exercise!!

chel3 - Where in the south will you be moving back to?

As for me, we are just hanging around the house for the holiday. DH has pretty much been in the bed all day. He goes back to work tomorrow. I wish I had the luxury of just laying around all day. :p Anyway, getting back on track today with my eating and recording all my food on MyFitnessPal. I think Baby Girl is teething...ugh! So not fun. She just seems fussier than normal and when I give her the teething tablets she seems to get some relief because she's all happy and giggly again. So, if it is her teeth, let's pray that they come on through because no parent wants to deal with a teething baby!:dizzy:

Ok, I must go. I have a ton of things that I need to do around the house. It's a never-ending battle, I tell ya!

Hotaruchan 07-04-2012 06:46 PM

Katbot: I was staying with a friend in Shinjuku, but we ran around all over the place...we hit up Shibuya, Akihabara, Ueno...we randomly found a guy that we'd studied abroad with 3 years ago and he invited us to a party...where we stumbled into another one of our ryuugakusei friends. Small world! We also went to the zoo at Ueno, though that was slightly less fun in the rain than it would have been on a clear day. I didn't stop at any soft serve machines, but I'm sure that they exist. Japanese vending machines are awesome.

General news: The scale told me this morning that I'd lost my first 20 lbs! I know most people on here have lost a lot more than that, but it made me do a little happy dance :)

krystalb 07-05-2012 10:20 AM

Hey everyone! I've been around for awhile (more recently since may) but haven't joined
In the chat thread. Anyways.. i'm so close to 199 i can taste it! I haven't been under 200 since i got pregnant with my son over 9 years ago! Ive been in size 20 forever.. i recently went to walmart and saw this cute summer dress.. but the biggest size they had was 15/17 so i thought wth and tried it on and it fit! I havent gone shopping for clothes since i started back up in may.. so i was very happy!

Hotaruchan 07-05-2012 06:36 PM

I made goal a week late for last month...finally under 80 kg. Keep going scale...I need to make up for last week's weigh-in for the Halloween challenge :^: Work's been really stressful of late...one school has absolutely no respect for how much work I put into their kids and announced yesterday that they'd probably cancel a lot of my classes for the rest of the semester because they want to practice for field day...Nice to know that I rank lower on their priority scale than trying to make kids run extra circles in the school yard after their normally scheduled gym class. I've been trying really hard not to eat my feelings with mixed results, but thankfully I've been doing a lot of angry exercising to try to get rid of pent-up rage. It's not WORKING, but at least I'm trying.

krystalb: Welcome back and congrats on a smaller size. Look out onderland, sexy lady on the way!

sgregg 07-06-2012 08:35 AM

Krystalb - Welcome to the chat thread!!! I definitely know how you feel. I feel like I've been between 16-20 for as long as I can remember. Yay for getting to fit in the smaller sized dress! I'm sure that was an amazing feeling!

Hotaru - Congrats on your 20 lbs!! :carrot:

lisa34t 07-06-2012 09:49 AM

Kystalb- WHOOO HOOO, good for you! And welcome to the chat ( although I’m new in this thread as well)

OK, I don’t know what I was thinking trying to start my journey in the middle of the week, no plan wrote out, bad foods in the fridge, my purse, and at work. I need to refocus and get my game plan together. Taking the GMAT this weekend. Have I been studying? NOOOOO, which is sad because the test cost $250 and I act as if I have money to blow and Lord knows I don’t. UGHHHH, Any who, I hope you all have a great weekend....I may not return till Monday when I’m back in the office.

sgregg 07-06-2012 12:08 PM

lisa - Good luck on your test! Sending positive vibes your way! :goodvibes I think it's ridiculous how much they charge for those tests. And then when you do study, it really doesn't seem to prepare you. Anyway, hope you do well! :)

I've been trying to just stay busy between meals so I don't have the desire to snack. I've decided that I should eat a large breakfast and lunch so I'm not wanting to snack before dinner. I have realized that is my biggest problem. So, going to try larger lunches for the next few days and see if it helps my cravings in the afternoon around 3-4. I would be fine if I didn't have much to snack on or I only had good low-calorie snacks around here, but unfortunately, I don't. Haha! So, big lunch today and no snacking before dinner!! :)
On another note, Baby Girl is cutting her molars. :headache: It is NOT fun for me or her. One has cut through, but she has 3 more that will be trying to work themselves out before too long. I'm not looking forward to those evenings, which is when she feels her worst. :(

TGIF! Hope everyone has a good weekend. My SIL is having a baby shower this Sunday. Can't wait! :)

sgregg 07-06-2012 06:17 PM

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!! I have no details on the start date and grades and all that, but I got an offer this afternoon! For an English teaching position and I know it's going to be high school grades. :) You should have seen this girl dancing. I'm sure I've lost about 800 calories with my level of excitement. Hahaha!!

Hotaruchan 07-06-2012 06:59 PM

lisa: Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine. That's not to say that a few little cram sessions wouldn't be a good idea, but a lot of stuff on standardized tests can be taken care of by just taking a moment to logically think it through.

sgregg: CONGRATS!

Hotaruchan 07-06-2012 10:49 PM

NSV: (Not proud enough of it to post in the mini goals or make a thread, but I wanted to post SOMEWHERE) I just sent sexy pictures to my boyfriend. Normally I hate pictures (particularly if I'm not completely covered), but I figured I'd send a late 4th of July present to one of my nation's very finest. ;) I looked at one with my belly in full view and didn't feel like crying! It's a miracle! I still have a looong way to go, but my self-loathing has decreased considerably.

Katbot24 07-07-2012 12:09 AM

Hotaru: good for you! (and your boyfriend :o). I wish I had my body confidence back, sex with the fiancé has been...up and down, sometimes I can't get over my body and get into the moment. He swears up and down he loves my body but I can't see how! I feel so....deformed! It doesn't help that he's naturally lean either.

Sgregg yay for jobs! You'll have to keep us posted

Lisa34t ew GMAT, I took the mcat when my parents were trying to force me into med school, worst exam ever! I'm sure you'll do fine though :carrot:

----------------------------------------------------

We put in an application for a huge 2 bedroom apartment for about what we pay right now for an icky basement. The guy said he liked us and that he'd call us with a yay or nay today, but he didn't! Now we have to wait till Monday to find out, grrr. To top it off, my weightloss has stopped again on account of bloat, my stomach feels like a water balloon, I think it might be bc playing **** with my hormones. Hope it goes back to dropping soon!

krystalb 07-07-2012 01:08 AM

Hotaruchan, sgregg, lisa34t - Thank you for the welcome!

Hotaruchan - Congrats on the under 80!

sgregg - Congrats on the job! and the pics!

Katbot24 - I hope you get the apt!

Well I went shopping last night for some capris and got a size 16! so excited!! Than I went shopping tonight with my mom (shes going through a divorce and has lost a lot of weight) and she wanted to start dressing better than a stay at home mom.. so I went with her to give her some fashion advice.. and she got tons of cute clothes on sale.. but she also bought me a tank top.. and i have never worn a tank top in public.. but it was so cute! and I actually dont mind my arms showing.. and she got me a cute pair of wedges.. which i have never worn before because it was just too much weight on my ankles and my feet... plus i couldnt walk in them.. and now its no problem.. been wearing them around with my jammies! lol.. But its off to the lake this weekend for a belated 4th celebration.. lets see if I get any comments on my weight since ive lost a bunch since ive seen them last!

OH! and I got a job today.. start monday!

Hello all, can I join in the chat thread? I'm new. Been calorie counting ish on My Fitness Pal for the last week and done quite well keeping on track, although because MFP adds on lost calories through exercise to what you can eat I think my intakes have been quite high. First big challenge is today as I am off to a wedding, lots of food, cake and potentially alcohol, not decided if i'm gonna have a drink yet. Have a fab Saturday all :-)

Good morning and Happy Saturday! :D

Starfired - :welcome: I also calorie count on MFP. You can add me if you want! skgregg83 is my username.

krystalb
- woohoo on the 16's!!! What made your mom decide to change the way she dresses? Just curious.

Katbot - sending positive vibes your way! :goodvibes

Hotaru
- That's great that you were able to send them! What did your BF think?

I'm driving over to my hometown today. It's a couple of hours away from where I live now. I plan on visiting a friend and then staying at my mom's. My SIL is having a baby shower tomorrow and that should be fun.

Anyway, hopefully Baby Girl will be a happy camper while we are out and about.

So much good news! People getting jobs! Huzzah!

Bf seemed pretty happy....I was kinda afraid to see his reaction, so I emailed them right as he was about to go to bed...he then proceeded to stay online for another half an hour ;) Long distance blows, but I was glad that I could do something to make his day considering how often he does little things to make mine.

Also, I joined My Fitness Pal today...we'll see how that works out for me. I didn't realize how many calories I burn in a day exercising...true, I biked a little more than normal, but apparently I took off 966 calories just from exercise?! Wild...

Hey Hotaru, I've heard about My Fitness Pal in passing. What is it exactly and do you find it helpful? I'm a student, so anything that is easy to use (and/or free) is something I find interesting.

Katbot24 07-09-2012 12:44 AM

Hotaru: it's unreal how many calories stuff burns! I found out that working at Booster Juice for 6 hours burns about 900 calories! I guess it makes sense, standing and lifting and walking non-stop n all.

So the fiancé and I went out tonight, first time in 3 weeks, to celebrate him getting a raise. We went for a walk along the river (takes about 2 1/2 hours to go all around it) and then stopped into a fancy bar in a hotel on the riverside. We shared a plate of mini sliders and sweet potato fries. Also had a bit too much to drink, but the bar had a "skinny" page, I picked a glass of prosecco and OJ for 75 calories. I know that the fries and mini burgers don't offer the cleanest of suppers, but I was low on calories for the day so I should break even. I'm a little tipsy and VERY happy, no regrets!

Kat: Man, I didn't even think about work...I run around so much for the little kids @_@ I don't know if it's possible to track that though. Sounds like you had an awesome night out too...I'm jealous...my boyfriend living on a different continent means that we haven't had a date night in more than 4 months...

Davikatl: Since I only just joined, I'm not sure how well it'll work out, but it makes it easy to log all of your exercise and foods for the day and calculates how many you should eat/have burned/have left. Yes, it's free. I'm having a little trouble inputting foods since half the time I'm not 100% sure what they're making me eat at school lunch, but it's kinda neat. They also have a forum over there, so if there's any questions that you can't find an answer to here, you can cross-reference with that site.

Hotaruchan- MFP is amazing! That is my "diet" of choice. I have lost 18.4 lbs using it. It just makes calorie counting painless and easy. I do not eat my gained exercise calories unless I end up negative but the app is really helpful. I also bike, it is a new hobby of mine and I love it. You go so fast and get to see so much stuff that it doesn't feel like you are working out (except up hill, ugh).
Katbot-I wish I burned calories working! I have the opposite problem. I sit all day and everyone brings in the most delish food! Kills me! Today they are ordering Chinese food. I will be strong!

Hotaruchan 07-09-2012 09:30 AM

lilkel: Biking is my main mode of transportation, as I don't have a car in Japan and my work is between 2 and 5.5km away from my apartment depending on the day. I've been mostly biking at night (Japanese humidity during the day is unbearable) and when I'm feeling ambitious on the weekends, but I've gotten to see a decent chunk of the "city" (I put it in quotes because, while the city I live in has 211,000 people, I'm firmly out in the cowtown portion of it).

kat: I'm jealous that there was a log for your job...I tried searching mine after you said that and came up with no results. I put in 50 minutes of dancing because I spent at least half of both of my 1st grade classes today dancing around like an idiot. The kids love it, I burn some calories. Win-win, right? With the older kids I did a lot less jumping around, and I kinda doubt that there's an option for pacing around the classroom checking kids' worksheet progress :p

Mornin' everyone. :coffee:

I'm dragging this morning, but I did sleep good last night, so that's a plus. I went to my parents' house Saturday and stayed over until yesterday. DD decided that she did not want to sleep over there. It was not a very good experience. She passed out in the car about 5:30 yesterday and woke up a little bit before we got home. Then, she went right to bed after we got home and didn't wake up until this morning at 7:30. She was one tired baby.

I am dog-sitting for the next 2 weeks. My friend and her family went on vacation and was going to have to pay nearly $200 to board the dog at the vet, so they asked me. Last night was the first night the dog stayed over. So far, so good, but I'm still trying to figure her out and she's gotta get used to our place. My husband isn't much of a dog person, so I hope the next 2 weeks won't be too stressful.

Hope everyone has a good Monday and good rest of the week!! :)

Hotaruchan prepare for me to be your new best friend: http://calories-burned.findthedata.o...ling-mentoring . So it looks like you're looking at about 175 cal/h JUST for walking about and teaching. Not too shabby, eh?

Sgregg boy and I thought my life was busy! Hope you don't get too stressed!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, I've GAINED 2 lbs in the last 3 days, I know it can't be fat and I'm pretty sure I know what it is....TMI warning........................................... .................................................. ..poop! I haven't *ahem* "been regular" since Thursday! I can feel it all bunched up in there and it isn't a case of no fiber, I get tons of fiber from the foods I eat, there's always a salad and the last few nights we've had veggie lasagna with zucchini instead of noodles and spinach mixed with ground beef and ricotta cheese filling (400 cals per serving, sooo good). My fiance says it's the cheese that's doing it....I dunno....I'm downing coffee after coffee to see if I can get things to "move"

Davikatl16 07-09-2012 11:58 AM

Hotaru: Thanks a ton! I may just look into it. I'm terrible with keeping track of what I'm eating. It seems like a lot of hassle to me. I'd rather just go and eat what I feel like and feel good than worry about meeting a certain calorie limit haha. That and I like baking...a little...well maybe a lot...too much haha.
