Hello Ladies!

I feel like I've said I was back 800 times and have yet to get myself back! Was finally starting to feel mentally ready to take control of everything and found out my grandmother had passed away and of course inhaled sugar to cope with that. Now two weeks later I think I am back to feeling mentally ready to start this journey.

Moving home from college was tough on me and the change in some medications I was on as well as negative eating habits lead to a weight gain of around 60 ish pounds .

So, now here I am ready to get rid of it. I am currently around 195 and want to be between 125-135 depending on how I feel when I get to 135. I know it's a big goal but I also feel capable and ready to do it. I definitely need the support of this site though, so get ready to see me posting a ton, at least when I'm not at work, babysitting, or trying to squeeze in my workouts!!!

I hope life takes it easy on you!
I know how hard dieting can be when life steps in and you need your "medicine" (food). School is a big stressor for me as well.
Don't feel bad about being in and out, just take one day at a time and you will get there!

Hey I'm just about exactly where you are, including weight (194) and I'm 5"6. I am actually having a hard time adjusting to moving away from home and going to college. I started gaining a lot of weight when my grandmother died when I was in 9th grade so i can empathize with you. I know it's really hard, my grandmother and my mother raised me and my siblings so it was very hard. I know we can help each other out because we have such similar stories and are in similar places in our lives.

You should join my 10 pound per month for four months challenge. I think it helps if you set smaller goals to work towards your large one.

Good luck, I know that you can reach your goal weight, and I am sending positive thoughts your way!!!!!!

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear what you ladies are going through. But I'm glad to hear that you are both trying to make changes to better yourselves.

I agree with Ashley Marie that setting mini goals or milestones to get you to your ultimate goal is a good idea. I also think that setting goals outside of weight loss is a good idea (e.g. making it a goal to be able to run a whole mile or run a mile in a certain amount of time or to be able to do X number of pushups in a row, etc) because then if you hit those inevitable days when the scale hasn't budged (and for no good reason!), then you still have other goals to focus on that you might still be making progress on. It will keep you from getting discouraged and giving up. Or at least it worked for me.

If you're feeling really ambitious, I would say to sign up for a race of some sort that offers group training or join a gym like Crossfit that puts heavy emphasis on building a community of friends. Being around people in real life that have the same goals as you will help you reach them, not to mention that building relationships is just plain good for your overall wellbeing (and the happier you are, the less you'll turn to food for comfort). Just some food for thought. These kinds of things definitely helped me out a ton when I started trying to lose weight.

You can do it!!!!!!!! It doesn't matter how many times you decided to start, it only matters that you do. And even if you have to keep dusting yourself off and trying again, you are at least doing it. And you won't succeed unless you start somewhere so I have faith in you.

I do hope that life treats you good throughout your journey and that you have everything on your side for success !! GL! xoxoxoox
