I bought 2 bikinis and I'm excited about having the confidence to buy them but I'm wondering if anyone with my stomach has been able to wear a bikini when they get closer to goal.... my stomach looks better than it did before I started the weight loss but I still have a long belly button.
Hey, my belly sticks out (rather than sag, super Buddah belly) and its too cold out for the beach but I'll be wearing a bikini to a spa in June until July when its hot enough to go to the beach, whether or not I make goal. If it helps, I notice a lot of people are nervous about how they'll look in the beach (including myself) but there are different body types at the beach, same with yoga and no one cares - except for the very few who criticize everything (like once when I was in college, a guy made fun of me for carrying a plastic bag with my high heels). Its just not worth denying yourself the sunshine and beach!
Months ago, I went to a surprise spa with my bosses at my old place. They were discussing whether the biggest coworker skipped out because she felt too fat to go. They were all in way better shape than me and I wanted to hide in a hole-and the spa also had a part where we all had to take off our clothes. The rest was where we had to wear bikinis, but I didn't have one (I have been a beach skipper for years) so I was either in my sports bra and undies or naked. Yikes. But then I thought, is giving into my nervousness worth sacrificing an awesome spa trip? And I just focused on enjoying myself. I'm still self conscious, but I'm getting better at still enjoying my life while losing-it really does make the weight loss journey a lot more bearable, since with our fluctuations, and plain waiting, it can really be annoying at times unless we do at least in some way enjoy ourselves-I think that you should rock that bikini!
I think it is great that you are working hard on reshaping your body and going for wearing a bikini. But, I also know you want to look the best you can in a suit.
I'm looking at your picture and I don't think this particular suit is working the best for you. First, your breasts are not completely in the cups. What size top is it? And what size bra do you wear? (if you don't know how to measure for a bra correctly, look up RunningfromFats blog as she has a bunch of info on it.)
Second, I think a different type of bikini bottom would flatter the tummy better. My tummy is my trouble spot too, so my plan is to get one that goes up to my belly button. It's hard to tell in this photo or not, but I'm wondering if you went with a higher waist band if it would camoflage your trouble spot a bit more, or maybe it would make you look more cut in half? (only you would know that).
I think finding the right suit makes all the difference. You have nice shoulders and are well endowed (an asset) and a very tiny waist (something people envy) and then bigger in the hips and thighs. You could really flaunt your assets - for sure.
With that said, I think you are doing AMAZINGLY and I hope you rock whatever swimsuit you decide on and walk out there with your head held high as you so EARNED THAT RIGHT!

I am a 32 gg so it is going to be difficult to find something that matches the chest area without spending a lot of money. I thought about the high waisted bikini but I actually like the cut of the bikini. My stomach is pretty flat just not tight. Hopefully my stomach will tighten because I love the bikinis I picked out. :/
Edit::: I will be wearing them. I am just not sure if I will have a semi sheer swim cover over it

That is what bites about having big breasts. There aren't 'cheap' ones. For a 32GG that you FOUND something that is pretty darn close to fitting right is amazing. I tried on suits today and I tried on some DD bikini tops that covered me less than the one you have.
I think you might be right that the bikini bottom you chose is probably better than high waisted - this way you can see your waistline better and you have a nice curved waist and want to show that off! Not cover it up.
Envious that your tummy is flat - mine has been pooched since puberty and no amount of crunches, planks and other such exercises are making me any flatter.
What I did to find it was buy an extra large that had a tie in the back instead of clasps. The bottom is a medium. I know my chest is going to get smaller by the summer so the ties were the best bet.
I'm actually curious about the same thing xD My stomach is similar to yours, except I have loose skin that kinda of caves in vertically about 4 inches above and below the belly button. I'm not nervous wearing one this summer because I have seen different shapes and sizes in a bikini, and I feel like i've earned it, even if I have loose skin. But I do agree with Melissa that we need ones that show off our bodies correctly. And what works for one person will may not for the other.
You have large boobs. And I think a pushup swimsuit top thats sized according to bra sizes will work well. I know they are not cheap but its better to have one really well fitted top. I thought swimsuit tops were hard enough at D's but I can only imagine how frustrating it is for you.
As for the bottoms I do agree that a highwaisted one would flatter you. You have a beautiful hourglass figure that most people envy =D. I have one too, and for my bottoms, I have bikini skirts that sit on my hips and bikini shorts. Only because personally, I do not like highwaisted bottoms
Whatever your going with, wear it with confidence, because you've earned it =D
I'd have to agree with others that a better fitting suit would do wonders, but since you're still losing it makes it very difficult to do that. Your shape might change quite a bit at this stage of the game!
My stomach looks kinda like yours and I've found some high-waisted bottoms at Target and Walmart that I want to try on. If you don't want to spend so much $$$ you might consider buying a top online in your bra size and buying the bottoms at a cheaper store. Sure, they won't match but then you can get exactly what you want.
I have the same belly button. It sucks, but I've had three kids (oldest are twins, youngest is 10 1/2 months old) and I've lost 109 pounds. I don't know if I'll ever be able get rid of the belly button, but I'll wear my swim suit with pride this summer for sure! You've done a great job, and you look fabulous!
Just had to shout that from the rooftop, b/c it is so awesome. If you can spring the money at some point, (maybe even next summer...you are still young!) I'd buy a super comfortable top that fits you perfectly. You could always get one that has a few different colors in it, that would it would be easier to pair it with solid bottms.
Mixing patterns with solids is also very in this year. :-)
Check out my resources page there are a ton of links there of places that sell swimsuits by sizes.
Brastop is probably the cheapest and they have a coupon for today for 7GBP off (LUCKY).
RIANNA10 should give you 10% there and BSMAG11 is for 11% (not 100% sure if they're working but it's definitely worth a try!!!).
In terms of support and uplifte you're going to be much, much better off in a bra sized swimsuit. If you don't believe me see this.
As for your midsection. I definitely see what you're saying and you might be better with something lower cut to show of how thing your waist is. No ones perfect, I have a bunch of stretch marks that can be seen on my midsection but I still wear a bikini. I do get one that's high enough to cover the worst of the loose skin but that's it.
You are right! I'm definitely going to buy one when it gets closer to the summer. I'll just save some dollars here and there so buying this last one won't hurt the pockets at all.
