nsv: "those jeans are for fat girls"

  • yesterday, i had a bad day all around, and instead of stress eating, i decided to go shopping for some new jeans.

my size 6s had become loose but were not falling off, so these new pants were really just an ego boost.

the store that i went to had a sale on jeans- buy one get one 50% off and i was looking for two pairs to buy. the salesperson informed me that all the jeans they had were on the sales floor and that they wouldnt be getting anymore shipments until school season, so i was looking at what they had.

i pointed up to a shelf and saw the size i needed (4 short, it's annoying how no matter what size i wear, i need short still), and asked the guy what kind of jeans they were.

he whispered "that cut is more for fat girls"

he was being blunt, but then it hit me

I NO LONGER QUALIFY AS A "FAT GIRL"!, for the first time in my life.
  • That's awesome and a total compliment haha.
  • Hahaha. Omg, I would have died right then and there of happiness. Congrats!
  • That is an AWESOME NSV!!!
  • LOL well he was being honest wasn't he. Way to go on your weight loss!
  • I love it!!! What an ego boost!
  • haha thats an awesome compliment! kinda poor choice of words on the guys part as that is a little insulting, but hey, thats something i would LOVE to hear!! haha good for you
  • amazing compliment! and what a progress you have done so far!!
  • Aww that must be a great feeling enjoy!
  • Yay for new jeans!! I just bought a new pair of jeans for the first time in 2 years and I know how good it feels!
However, I still feel like even when I'm thin I'll be insulted by comments like that and it would probably cause me to walk out of the store. I guess I'll find out eventually.
  • Congrats on your loss and new jeans!!

    Congrats!

I agree with this. I mean, some cuts of pants are going to fit a plus-sized figure better but couldn't he have just said something like "those pants work better on a different shape than yours or they would be more flattering on a plus-sized figure"?
