Nervous to go shopping...

  • Hey guys,
I've lost 51-52 pounds and I have yet to buy any new clothes. Well i am going to the lake for 4th of July and my aunt is insisting that I go. I don't know why but I am terrified. When i started this journey i wore an 18, and i'm scared there won't be any difference. I know my clothes fit different but i still am wearing all the same things. I hope I can tell a difference. I still have 70 pounds to go give or take so its not like i'm anywhere near my goal. ugh. sorry for the rant. Half of me wants to fake food poisoning and not go.....anyone else have to deal with anything like this after loosing a little bit of weight?
  • Congrats on the weight loss so far. Your doing awesome!

Even after losing a few pounds, my body begins to differ and my jeans get just a little too big.

My advice: Go to the store and find something you absolutely LOVE. If you do, you'll feel good about yourself. As those numbers on the scale goes down, so do the numbers on the tags of the clothes you buy. Feel good about your purchase before you leave, or you may not feel good when you put it back on!

    Best wishes! :]
  • I am sure you will be down a couple of sizes. I dropped a size at about a 15 pound loss. Go, buy some clothes that fit and have a wonderful time.
  • I think the only thing you should be nervous about is your wallet . You're going to look awesome in new, smaller clothes! I don't know about you, but when I first started losing weight, I just got used to my clothes being big and baggy on me- it seemed like they still fit me fine, until I tried on smaller clothes that actually fit me. I never really bought size 18 pants becuase I wore my 20s so long that my next pair of jeans were 16s. Go try stuff on- 50 lbs is a HUGE accomplisment! When I know I'm looking good, I feel so much better about myself and am so much more likely to stay on plan (and unfortunately, the oposite is true too). Have fun at the lake, live your life- focus on how much you've already achieved!
  • oh man, be very afraid!! OF THE WALLET!!! haha
  • I had to buy new work clothes, found that I went up a size even though I lost weight-I stretched out my old clothes over the years, so when I got new ones, I really did need to go up a few sizes.
Just think about the worst that could happen-that you could be up a few number sizes (which I am sure will not happen because you lost a lot, but that is the worst case scenario), at the end of the day, you have cute clothes, a more fit bod and once you reach your goal weight you will definitely be a smaller size. Nothing will take away the fact that you lost a lot of weight and will keep on doing so.
  • after losing 75pounds i still havent gone shopping. I dread the moment that i wont fit into what i like. so to me i just leave it till the end. Although all my friends are getting a bit frustrated telling me i look ridiculous in my 275pounds shirts. We will need to find the courage soon!
Good luck and enjoy your trip!
  • you really need to go shopping, even if its to get some items. If you stay in the same clothes (this is how i see it anyway) you could go back. I got rid of mine as soon as i could because i never wanted to fit them again! and when you get the smaller clothes you can SEE the difference and other see it better too. Engraved i hope you go soon! you've lost alot of weight and you dont need to look frumpy for no reason! Because of your height and the current weight you are at you could get some really awesome/cute/sexy whatever kind of clothes that would show off the hard work you've put in!

    Do it for you!!!
