What a great way to put it. If she was as vocally critical of others as she is of herself, it'd be a different story, but luckily our different standards do not come between our friendship. I think, however, that these different standards are a lot of what make it difficult to talk about with others. If all my friends were 5'6'' and 170 with about 40 lbs to go, it'd be a different story, haha.

Every time Ive lost a significant amount of weight it would make me uncomfortable when people mentioned it, mostly because alot of times people mention in a public setting with other people that i didnt know that well around. Honestly, even if it's my family, i dont feel comfortable sitting at Thanksgiving dinner and have someone start asking me about my weightloss or when i gained it back 'are you still working out' really? i just gained 80lbs back, probably a good guess that im not..it just annoys me because i really dont think my weight loss/gain/struggle, should be a 'group conversation' unless I bring it up.

Over the years of me struggling with weight, the thing that has floored me the most is how entitled people feel to comment on my weight and discuss it. I wouldnt ever comment on someone's acne unless they brought it up, etc.

Especially people I dont even know very well...at dinners, in the office, etc...it surprises me how many people think thats it's completely acceptable to just bring up the topic of weight loss...example...i was at a lunch and this guy KEPT talking about the calories in EVERYTHING at the table...for one, i find that obnoxious...ok, youre counting calories, but no one wants to spend the whole lunch listening to you make comments about calories...the other 8 people at the table werent losing weight or even cared...and me at 100lbs overweight just felt uncomfortable and annoyed that this guy kept making the same kind of 'this is calorie-free ice cream right bwaa ha ha?' (he made some version of this comment at least 3-4 times) 'omg there are so many calories in what im eating' for the ENTIRE lunch. just eat it or dont eat, but stop subjecting the whole table to your obsession with it! and if the 110lb woman sitting next to him wanted to eat the ice cream, im sure she didnt need him constanting reminding everyone how many calories they were eating. it was just unpleasant. lol ok long rant
