Call all boxers!

  • Hey ladies (and gentlemen?!),
    I started boxing about 2 months ago, and I was wondering if anyone else is a boxer? The workout is amazing and boxing itself is so much fun. The place I go is a bit intense but I can't push you enough to try it if you haven't! I was just wondering if anyone else here was in the same boat!
  • I've always wanted to take up box or kick boxing but have been afraid. What do you like about it?
  • I've always been interested in boxing also but i looked into it a couple months back and the classes around my way are so expensive =(
  • I'm starting up Thai boxing. It's amazing, you get a great workout and you get to release a lot of stress! Also, I'm just happy to take up as a self defence martial art, I want to know that if anyone tried to attack me I could do enough damage to get away.
  • It does seem a bit pricey at first (I pay 55$ a month, it's $75 but I get a student discount). But the classes are so much fun that I use it as my primary work out and I canceled my other gym, so I "saved" $20 a month, as I see it.

    It's the stuff we do that I love. One part of a circuit was flipping this giant truck tire over and over or throwing a medicine ball at someone doing sit ups. Or jump rope or bag work. It's pretty much the coolest thing I have ever done. Not to mention the confidence increase in learning how to fight. It's the only workout where I have ever really sweated and it's awesome.

    If you're scared, don't be. I was terrified when I started and now I can't imagine not doing it.
  • Not really the same but I do women's kickboxing once a week... we use our elbows and we do kicks. I really like it and wish I could do it more! The burn in my arms and legs is incredible... During the first few sessions, I got so hungry after class that I would binge But I've got it under control now!!
  • I think I'm going to giving boxing a try then. I like the self defense aspect of it as well. I need to know how to defend myself.

    Where I was they would make you do sit ups then the person who was holding your knees would punch you in the abs to condition them. Brutal!

    It wasn't a full on punch, more of a "training" punch when you're sparring with people! Or else that really would kill =S
