Default I’m sabotaging myself

The most annoying thing is I know it! Wtf! This morning I ate a yummy chocolate chip muffin….lets times that by 2 and as I’m eating the second one I’m like what are you doing? It’s bad enough this week you’re stuck eating processed crap, but now you’re eating muffin number 2 this morning is ridiculous! But I didn’t stop myself, I continued to finish off that tasty damn muffin!

Anyone else go through this and I don’t mean thinking about the consequences afterward I mean flat out eating and enjoying a muffin right in the middle and telling yourself you are sabotaging yourself and setting yourself up for failure…and you just don’t care? I don't even know why I don't care today I feel fat and bloated and I know TOM is coming...so maybe that's my problem. Or maybe I just don't care and I'm happy being the weight I'm at...I don't know I think I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

I have this mentality daily, but now am down to business. I found a new fat roll I have never had before and it shocked me into obsession. I am always eating but no t due to hunger but depression and now I am just eating things that are not fattening for me, but I am still eating. NONSTOP!!!! Veggies though, so they push right on through..

Normally I do, but I think due to finances I bought a lot of crap because it was cheaper and will last me until tuesday when I get paid. I think thats my problem right now, because I'm living off pizza pockets and microwavable food and sandwiches until tuesday.

Im on a very low food budget too. I but the economy size bags of frozen veggies and they last about two weeks, steam them, baked them, boil them, whatever. I also buy one economy size box of brown rice, a large bag of baby carrots, and bananas and apples. I spent thirty dollars last night on this and I can eat as much as I want except for the brown rice and it is still healthy.. oh.. and a large tub of vanilla yogurt.. good for dipping the veggies and fruit in.

MizT - I'm on a tight budget too... my fave finds are canned soup on sale and the new frozen steamable healthy choice meals that are 2.50 a piece and less than 300 calories each, but SUPER yumm and filling. Since I'm usually short on time at lunch, and cash, these are a great option. Other favorites are high fiber cereal and lowfat milk (yes I do this for dinner sometimes), bulk bags of baby carrots to nosh on and whatever produce is the store special/on sale that week. Store brands are usually just as good in the nutrition department when it comes to milk and light yogurts. Sometimes you just need something crunchy, and popcorn is SUPER cheap. You can buy it in bulk and pop it in a paper bag in your microwave if you have one. Frozen veggies and fruit are great too, just like Licia said, I keep them in the house always too. Again, i look for the sales, and stick to the outer edges of the grocery stores... Get a lot of variety in meals this way.

We are on a heck of a tight budget too. Processed food seems cheaper but really it isnt if you scour the papers, use coupons, and shop within your means. Buy the bagged fruit and veg- always cheaper. Weigh each bag, find the heaviest, it costs the same as the lightest, and there can be a 2 pound difference! It takes longer to find decent bags, like the apples will be bruised. But I look at them ALL, and find the perfect one. Instead of baby carrots, but a huge bag of whole, unpeeled ones. Much cheaper. Stay fresh longer too because there is no moisture. I have tons of ideas if you need more- but dont go eating muffins and blame it on budget! You could have very well made a couple dozen homemade whole wheat muffins with apple sauce and fruit for the cost of a couple bakery fresh muffins.

We are here to get eachother in gear right? A little tough love?

OMFG, this thread is like ME RIGHT NOW!!

After our BC Challenge I said I would eat what I wanted (within reason) for two days. I thought HEY! I have been on track and lost so much weight, I deserve it! I NEVER do cheat days. Plan of action was to be back at my regular schedule of healthy foods on Monday. Thing is? It's Wednesday and I'm half assing it. I even THINK about it as I sit here and eat this deliciosu piece of chocolate cake. WTF IS WRONG WITH ME!??!

Someone needs to slap me. As of right now I'm at 162...I can't beileve that just last week I was 159.6...I GOTTA get it together. And I will. RIGHT NOW. This thread just poked me.

That and the fact that I literally have 3 freaking months to lose this last 28lbs in order to look halfway decent in a bathing suit. UGH!!

I can totally relate... things are really tight lately. I spent just under 20 dollars at the grocery store today and I hope to make it last until next week. I'm making beef stew with tons of veggies tonight, and I'm just going to eat it until its gone.

I bought: 1 apple, 2 large naval oranges, and 4 chobani greek yogurts. And for the beef stew: 2 large russet potatoes, 1 onion, ~20 loose baby bella mushroons, , and a .75 lb top round steak. I spent $17.79.

This isn't a ton of food, but combining it with a few things I had at home, I can make it last.
I added a packet of Durkee beef stew mix, frozen peas, frozen broccoli, and fresh baby carrots to what I bought at the store.

I also agree with what was said above; stay out of the middle aisles! Shop around the edges of the store and only go in the middle for specific items. Get in and get out before they reel you in!

Kriz - That's why I really can't do cheat days! I eat delicious stuff, and then for the next week I let myself eat little bits of deliciousness that take me over my cals for the day. Also, *slap* hope that helps.

Miz - I feel you on the tight budget. I know a lot of people don't like the processed-ness of Lean Cuisines and the like, but they're usually on sale and I stock up for the month. The Smart Ones turkey and mashed potatoes meal is DELISH and has 200 calories - for a whole flippin' meal!

I know this all too well. Everyone does it. I think there is a certain point where we sit back and go "wait a minute" and kick ourselves back into gear. The important thing is to actually do the kicking rather than sit back and go "wow I gained X lbs guess I'm officially fat, I'm going to eat a whole pizza" and give up.

That slap DEF helped. I think I just hit a point where I felt so good about myself and also so pissed off that I didn't place 1st due to horrible scoring that I just let myself eat and eat...but I am SO back on track. Fish and greens for dinner tonight.

After tonight there will be NO MORE chocolate cake in our house, thank god! (Boyfriends mother made me a cake to say congratulations on placing in BC challenge hahaha- lord!)

As for Lean cuisines. I LOVE THEM> I don't care what people say about them, they have served me well, much better then the usual burger and fries for lunch. And those smart ones turkey and mashed potatoes! OMG I love those!! Have one in the freezer right now. =)

I can def. relate to this! Once I get about halfway into my weight loss, I hit a plateau, get fed up, and start eating the way I used to and quit exercising. I've done this twice now! lol

The only thing I can impart is that now, when I get a sudden urge to eat something that isn't helping my weight loss efforts, I stop for a minute to see if I'm actually hungry, or just having a craving. Cravings typically last less than 10 minutes, so I just occupy myself until the craving passes (this works with quitting smoking, too! I quit cold turkey off of a pack a day, 7 yr old habit!)

If I'm having trouble keeping my mind off the craving, I grab something that requires a lot of chewing and does NOT satisfy the craving, like celery or carrots. You can fill up on that guilt-free! :-)

Also, about the being happy with the weight you're at, I told myself the very same thing, both times I jumped off the wagon! lol!! For me, it was a rationalization for my destructive behaviour. Within about 6 months, I put back on the weight I had lost (30lbs) because I stopped doing all the things that made me lose the weight that I did in the first place! It's taken me two failures to figure this one out! haha

Just remember, weight loss is a marathon, not a race! There will be ups and downs but the most important thing is that when you slip, you get right back OP and try to learn from what happened! Good luck !!

I completely understand about the tight budget. I use coupons and like to hit up Food Lion's Buy 1 get 1 free sales lol. Also, i find that food is cheaper around the middle of the month. I absolutely AVOID the grocery stores around the first of the month. Thats when things are more expensive!
