Default Hey I'm Bri and i'm 20 and thought i'd say hey here :)

Hey everyone i did the whole introduction thing but i thought since i am 20 i would post it here it as well I started my journey Monday at 248.8. I already feel discouraged but I know that i just have to keep truckin'. Quick question-how often do you guys weigh yourself? and i am wanting to set mini goals but i don't know what weight to do it at. I want to get down to 140, but if i look bangin' at 150 i'll take it. I can't wait to talk to people going through similar issues and be able to get some confidence from you and hopefully give you a little too!

that's good if you're planning on posting in here, cuz the introduction forum is pretty irrelevant, haha...

hmm, most people weigh themselves either once a day, or once a week. once a week is probably better for your sanity, but i'm terribly impatient so...

hmm, just set a goal that seems reasonable for you. if you're thinking 150, then put 150. and if when you get there you find there is more to lose, then you can always change it.

good luck, and welcome!

It's less overwhelming to go one step at a time IMO. When I first started I would never have DREAMED of even DARING to write "115" as a goal, so I went in little increments. My scale is in kilograms so I set minigoals in blocks of 2-3 kg at a time.

As for weighing, I like daily weighing because as long as I keep my lifestyle consistent I can predict the fluctuations and retentions that occur with monthly cycles, times of day etc.

Thanks guys! I am feeling better this morning...i weighed myself and it was 244 even! It feels good to have a little jumpstart in the beginning! I think i am going to weigh myself weekly-because like Kawaii said about being impatient...that is totally me and i feel i'll get discouraged if i don't see improvement everyday. Krampus and Vatkins i think thats a good idea...i have a number in mind but i'm not going to be dead set on a certian number...for the first time in my life i am actually excited about loosing weight. This forum is amazing, and i know its where i need to be!!!

Hey Bri! It is important (At least I think so for a steady weight loss) to TRY hard to weigh yourself once a week at the same day and time every week. This keeps you consistent and on plan. This is MY opinion taken from over 50+ studies I've read on it! Ha!

The hardest part of weight loss is GETTING STARTED, then it's maintenance.

You are off to a GREAT start and I can't wait to see your progress! Getting a goal number in your head is great! But setting small goals is also important to KEEP you going. I like the threads here "Get me out of the 220's or 170's" and so on. Those have REALLY helped to push me!

After seeing your first weeks weight loss, you'll see how great of progress you CAN make! Jump on girl cause you're in for a GREAT HEALTHY ride!

my goal is kind of a moving target, too. i always thought i wanted to be at 150 or below but my boyfriend who is ssssuper smart about fitness, etc. told me he thinks i'd be absolutely hottie time by 155 (which made me feel better because somehow that extra 5 lbs makes it SO MUCH MORE attainable, in my mind [whatever, i know]). but i guess i'll just see when i get there...it depends on how i feel and think i look like when i get to both of those weights i guess

Welcome, Bri! I am 20 and also 5'8", too! I haven't been your weight since I was 15...but I'm going to work on it. This forum is GREAT, you will make a lot of friends here. I have to admit, not being on here regularly has made me less accountable with my weight loss (I've been stalling since August, haha). And as far as your own weight loss goes--you can do it!! <3

Thanks so much guys! I come from a line of great genes-so my family is all healthy and so are the majority of my friends. Its nice to have people to talk to going through the same things....it actually is comforting! I think i am going to set a my goals in thirds...like 33% there...and i am also going to do decades (like get me out of the 240's..etc) and do weekly weigh-ins. I'm so excited to get in control of my body!!!

Hi Bri! Welcome sug!

I weigh once a week, usually Monday mornings buck naked ;o) haha

Set mini goals for yourself, maybe 5 pounds at a time within a certain time frame (that is reasonable). It helps keep the motivation factor high!

As far as a Goal Weight...we are the same height. I have a pear shaped body, but I am working towards my "weight when not pregnant" and I look "bangin' " at 130ish LOL Honestly, set it for 150 and take the last 10 off for yourself ;o) 140 looks good on tall chicks. In my opinion of course!

Good Luck and we are all here to support you!

PS. Starting a daily food and exercise diary/journal will also help you stay accountable and see exactly what you are putting in and working off I keep a very small one in my purse so it's with me all the time!

Hey Bri welcome to 3FC's don't be discourage it doesn't matter how long and gruelling the process is, but the after affects of it is AMAZING! If you feel discourage because it's a huge number to lose, try mini goals and rewards yourself once you reach them so you have something to continue to look forward to! Best of luck!
