Default Attn: Shopaholics!

I'm giving myself a new incentive! I'm one of those people who for some reason or another ALWAYS could use a new shirt...(could be that mine are usually getting smaller and smaller)...but I have put a restriction on myself. I will not allow myself to buy another thing until I'm down 20lbs. I'm pretty sure I have plenty of things to wear throughout the winter but BELIEVE ME the urge will come up!! Who's with me!?

With you. Totally with you. As I live in NYC and walk everywhere-- to work, to the gym, to the grocery store, I pass some of my favorite clothing stores multiple times a day-- every single day of the week. Aack!
Yes. The scale will read 140 before I buy so much as a pair of socks. Let's do this thing!

This has worked well for me for the past couple of months! The only things I allowed myself to buy were some new exercise clothes when I made a mini-goal.

Awesome! I'm excited this is working for everyone! I went to the mall today to buy gifts for the upcoming holidays (100% for others of course!) and made myself a mental wishlist of where I'm going the second I hit my ultimate goal of 145. Best part of being in the mall today for 6 hours was definitely all of the calories I burned walking around!!

I thought it would work splendidly for me, but I'm stagnating and still more than 10 lbs away from goal. I've considered calling it quits just so I can go on a shopping spree...

I'm new here (posted an introduction if interested).. but i'm down for the challenge! I work in retail and basically buy something weekly just because I convince myself that it's such a good deal. But no new clothes until I'm down 20 lbs!

Think about it this way! You want to lose those 10 lbs no matter what right? If you go on your shopping spree now and lose the 10 lbs next month all of your new clothes won't fit as well!! You'll have to go get new things and these will almost be a "waste of money." Try to think if it that way!!

Miss Sandra - I FEEL you! I used to be a manager at aerie (American Eagle's underwear line) and we used to get this crazy 40% discount at aerie and AE. Every other day something new was coming in that I "just had to have." Since I was steadily gaining weight during that time as well I was like..."well I don't have any pants that fit so obviously I need to buy 3 new pairs..." I'm no longer working in retail but that mindset still applies!!

We can do this!! Maybe the "trying on pants" mall trips won't end in awkward crying sessions with the store employees!! Am I really alone there?
