Default A friend called me "round" tonight...

When I asked him to elaborate he joked that he was talking about my handbag, but everyone there knew what he was talking about.

This combined with the fact that my husband has not attempted to initiate sex, or acts like I am joking when I try to for the past few weeks puts me in a really bad place in terms of my self-esteem. I have put on a lot of weight over the last three years. I was 108 when I started school, and carrying 18 to 21 credits a semester while simultaneously working two part time jobs gave me a lot of stress, which turned into 40 extra pounds.

After graduation this past May, things have been a whirlwind. I started a really stressful, fast-paced job and we recently purchased a house, and being physically active or thinking about nutrition has been pushed to the back burner in my mind. This led to me topping the scale at 168 just a week ago.

So I am hurt as ****, but I am not mad that my friend said what he did (we have a policy of brutally honest with each other). I guess this is just more fuel for the fire... (Kinda sucks feeling like this after I was happy with myself for getting in a good 40 min workout earlier today).

Just needed to vent...

I totally understand how you feel. I go through the same thing with my boyfriend. I've learned to shrug it off and mentally tell myself that I'm going to prove everyone wrong. It helps having positive people giving you support but ultimately you have to want and do this for yourself. Don't let people bring you down. Good job on your 40 minute workout earlier! Keep it up!

That's wonderful that you're positive about his insensitive comment -- I think your attitude will carry you far through weight loss. BTW I highly doubt you are "round" at your height/weight.

I'm sorry your feelings were hurt. The fact that you are posting about it here instead of some other website, makes me think that you are starting to think about nutrition and exercise again. I hope you can use it as motivation for any changes you wish to make.

I am hoping to get things turned around once and for all!

I have been to this site a few times in the past and have always admired the tremendous amounts of support that all the members offer each other. I hope that I can give back what I am getting from the community already!

I can relate to the no sex part. Back when i was at my highest my ex-boyfriend did the exact same thing..wow did it hurt my feelings. but you know what , it is the MAIN thing that made me see what i had really become. he was right to not be attracted to me..i can't blame him what so ever now, i didnt even like me then.

When i eventually became fit and healthy and looked good, he was right back to when we first met ( shame i wasn't really interested anymore) hehe!

Keep adding fuel to the fire...you will learn to love yourself then.

Aww! You and I are almost identical with our weights and heights, and I would be offended for you, LOL!

Just keep working toward your goals, and try not to let others affect your sense of self worth. It's easier said than done, I know, but try.
