Hi everyone,
I'm an expat living in Vienna and I'm new here.
Rather than bore you with a long introduction, I'll just get straight to the point: I'm 27, average about 60 kgs and looking to go down from a size 10 to an 8. No goal weight for this girl. In fact I'm avoiding daily weigh-ins as I think they can do more harm than good.
I'd really love to get and offer support, so if you are a bit of a shut-in like me and would like a bit of moral support (via email, skype, facebook, etc.) then please do drop me a line.
I'm also an expat living in Europe. I'm 23, between 63 and 64 kg at the moment, and trying to get back to a weight where I feel comfortable in my own skin. I do have a goal weight, but I'm not too sure how realistic it is, so I'll reevaluate as I go.
Anyways, I'd be happy to buddy up! Feel free to pm me if you'd like.
Before I damage my brain trying to figure out exactly how the pm system works here, I'll reply to you here instead for now.
You said it just right: "getting back to a weight where I feel comfortable in my own skin". That's my true goal as well. Where are you from originally, btw? And whereabouts in Europe are you living?
I'd really like to exchange stories and experiences whenever you have time and feel like it. Are you on any of the evil social networking sites or should we skype/email?
p.s. congrats on your weigh loss so far!
can't wait to buddy up with you!
I'm originally from the States, but I don't claim any particular hometown. My dad was in the military when I was younger, and we moved every two or three years. I'm living in Finland right now. Why are you in Vienna, and where are you from?
I have a healthy chunk of spare time at the moment, as I'm still sort of settling in to life here. I'm on facebook, and I'd be happy to email or skype. Just let me know what you prefer!
By the way, I really like your avatar!
And Irishlassie, I'm so jealous that you're in Scotland! I went there once on vacation and fell in love with it.
Cheers to you both, irishlassie & nienna.
I'd suggest facebook for keeping in touch, although I'll be checking in here regularly as well.
The avatar is a photo I took of a pickle I bit into last year... only to find it smiling back at me!
@irishlassie: I'd definitely be interested in buddying up with you, as we both have the same dress size and goal.
@nienna: I'm an ex-American (emphasis on the EX) living in Europe for the past 10 years. I escaped the US the day I turned 18. Why Vienna? By man is Austrian and I've always wanted to live here
I'll pm you both. Do get in touch and keep up the good work, girls!
Wow! hey expats! i am also looking around for a few buddies, and go figure, also an expat. from the us living in the uk at the moment. i'm also not 'weighing in' per se. more because i just moved and don't have a scale anyway. my ultimate goal is to run the midnight sun half marathon in norway. i have a looooong way to go since 5k is a good work out for me now, and 10ks make me want to die! heheheh!
Anatasia, when I saw your post, I got really excited! I didn't know about the Midnight Sun Marathon until you mentioned it, but now I really really really want to run it, which could actually work out since I'm living in Finland at the moment. I almost registered but couldn't decide which distance to sign up for. I'd like to try for a half-marathon, but the idea kind of scares me beyond words. When did you decide to run it and how did you learn about it?
Oh, and you can personal message someone by clicking on their name in that left-hand sidebar next to their message in the thread. A toolbar should come down, one of the options being "send a private message to "___".
Oh, an expat thread! I'm an American living in West Africa. There are so few people on here in this timezone ... I'm also 27, looking to lose about 100 lbs (give or take ... I like 100 because it's a nice round number, but really, I just want to stop being the fattest person in the room).
oh wow! What took you all the way out to Benin? I really want to go to Africa. I did some work for a malaria charity once and was planning trips for other people to go to Africa but never managed to go myself
