Angry Calling All Pear Shapes!!!, Don't you hate it when...

This is sort of a mini-vent. But don't you hate it when you finally can fit the bottom half of clothing, then the top portion is waaaayyy too big. I hate that! Of course I'm excited to get smaller every month, but come on?! I tried on a dress where the stupid lining (oooh I hate linings) was too tight, and even now it's still not fitting like I want it to, but now I'm literally swimming in the top portion. With jeans too, the thighs finally fit and the waist is a hot mess GRRRRR! Anyone else feel my pain? lol

OH yes. I've depended on the Right Fit pant from Lane Bryant (I think they sell them in non plus stores too?) because they are truly the only pants that I've ever found that actually fit my hips/thighs without gaping at the back of the waist.

Amen to the Right Fit jeans.

I've given up on pencil skirts and that ilk. Boo.

Although those straight line dresses would be great if I ever had to smuggle a turkey in the waist area....

I'm dying over here lol! Yes, I am with you on that haha! I just picked up a pair of those Right Fits for some work trousers and it's amazing how differently they all fit. I had to go through literally like 6 pair to find the right ones, but they are definitely my go-tos.

What would one reccommend for someone who is big on the top and smaller on the bottom? My sister has this problem, she's a size 14 on the bottom but still needs a 2x or 3x for tops.

I have an older friend who tells me when she grew up in Cuba they had all their clothes custom made - you picked a dress from the sample rack, they took your measurements and called when it's ready. I can't even imagine! I've always had the issues you describe - if it fits in the waist it's tight in the hips. The sizes keep the same proportions, just bigger or smaller, yet we are not made with the same cookie cutters!

I know this problem all too well, as I'm getting smaller I have resorted to buying low rise clothing. The jeans sit nicely on my hips...

One of my roomies was from Nigeria and she told me that's what they did with their clothes too... measure and then go and pick them up in a week. Eventually someday I want to start making my own clothes and maybe they will fit proper. I'm estimating that I'm always going to have a smaller top and a bigger bottom because my mom and sister are both thin and that's how they are shaped.

This is why I'm an amateur seamstress. My sewing machine is in a permanent, easy place to get to. It's the only solution for me.

I can't WAIT to fit into the adorable A sized patterns. I still plan to make my own clothes when I'm small. There's nothing like a dress that's made to fit you.

Oh but for jeans, I LOVE Ashlee Stewart. We don't have one here in Maine, but when I lived in Southern Connecticut I found that store. It's a plus sized store, and I think it's marketed towards women of color, and though I'm as caucasion as you can get, those jeans fit SOOOOOOOO good. I still order online. It seems all their jeans are made to fit someone thicker in the thighs and butt, smaller in the waist.

Ahhh, this is the story of my life. Everything is too small on the bottom, to big on the top. It helps to lower your expectations. Now I shop with the knowledge that almost anything I find, except for like a t-shirt, is going to have to be altered, and that's that. How I wish I could have custom made clothes...

I know how this is. It's frustrating. I'm restricted to pretty much one type of dress (fitted on the top to the waist, floaty from there down) and my jeans gape so annoyingly at the back. UGH. I know I should be really grateful that I've lost inches off my waist, but I'd like to see some disappearing from other places. How about I don't lose my boobs in favour of losing my thighs hah!

Have any of you tried CJ Jeans by Cookie Johnson (Magic Johnson's wife)? She was on Oprah last year (I think) and they had a show where they raved about how well they fit....they are pricey but I think a great pair of jeans is worth the investment. I've never tried them though. Have any of you?

Levi's has new jeans out this month with " curve id" that are supposed to help out pear sized girls. I have only read about them, and when I lose a size I'm going to go try them out!
