Default going to bed hungry, waking up feeling totally refreshed

Okay, this is going to be a wierd question.....

I had a strange week last week, and I ended up not eating dinner several nights. Not to panick anyone, I ate my full amount of calories, I just got them all in before 5 in the afternoon. I don't usually get to bed until 10:30 so I was pretty hungry by the time I went to bed, even had a bit of rumbling, which I drowned out with some water. Each morning after not having dinner I woke up feeling better than ever....I was wide awake (I am NOT a morning person) and raring to go. I thought it was a fluke at first, but it happened 5 different times. Has this happened to anyone else?

I usually go to bed hungry. Not ravenous, just a little hungry. I wouldn't say I wake up "raring to go" I don't think that's ever happened in my life haha... But I do feel better, as in clean and "not bloated" which I like. I wouldn't say continue to go without dinner, but maybe cut off your eating at a certain time.. like 6 or 7 o'clock

PS-Yay for the Natural State!

I'm with the above poster. Nights that I eat later, I do sometimes feel more sluggish in the morning than I do on nights when I cut off my eating sooner.

Last night I ate a pretty small dinner aroun 6:00 and didn't go to bed until midnight. Needless to say, my stomach was growling quite loudly before I fell asleep. However, when I woke up this morning, I wasn't even hungry! I feel like in the day it is really hard not to eat when you are hungry, but at night you know you should just go to sleep because it is bedtime anyway...

I think I read somewhere that you physically sleep better if you don't go to bed on a full stomach.

That's how I eat pretty much every day -- I try to be "done" eating by about 3pm or so. If I'm very hungry at night, I'll snack on some fruit and that's usually sufficient. I feel so much better eating that way, otherwise in the morning I feel puffy and sluggish.

This is what I do every night and it makes a BIG difference. I stop eating after dinner around 6. I also stop drinking water at 8 PM (otherwise I'll be running to the bathroom all night ) I don't go to bed until 12 or later so that gives me lots of time to digest. Usually after dinner I'm not hungry. Sometimes toward the end of the night I may get a couple of rumbles, but nothing too bad.

Anyway, ever since I began doing this (it's been at least half a year now; before that I'd have an after dinner calorie-fitting snack like popcorn around 9ish) I've just been sleeping so much better and waking up *lighter* somehow. Occasionally hubby and I will have a late night with friends and we'll have dinner or drinks, and although I stay perfectly on plan, I just wake up groggier, heavier, and HUNGRIER hehe!

I have noticed this, and I kind of love it! I usually do my workouts at night when I have time, I do still eat relatively later in the evening but I like to go to bed with just a tinge of hunger. When it's really bad and the tum is rumbling it's harder to fall asleep, but I love the feeling the next morning when I am ready and rarin' to go! I feel a lot more refreshed, I feel good about the day before (I am one who struggles a lot with bingeing so I know the feeling of going to bed on a full stomach, it sucks!) and it translates into a better day for me.

It's "getting up on the right side of the bed" for me :-)

Yeah, if I eat anything heavy after a certain time I wake up with what I call a "food hangover" lol. I'll usually wake up in the middle of the night with heartburn, and then when I get up for the day I just feel off. Not nauseous or anything, just sluggish...

However, I do need to have a small snack a few hours before bed, (I like bread and peanut butter with milk) otherwise I'll be so hungry that I either won't be able to fall asleep at all, or I'll wake up in the middle of the night so hungry that I have to actually get up and eat something.

I just thought of this last night. I went to bed and I was feeling sorta hungry but I didn't eat, and I woke up okay. I think im going to stop drinking water after a certain time because Im tired of waking up in the middle of the night to run to the restroom!

I frequently go to bed hungry, then wake up feeling refreshed and not hungry at all (at least not for an hour.) I drink a ton of water to quiet any tummy noises, and it works well. I don't usually eat past 7pm, but when I do, the later I've eaten the more wonky I feel when I get up in the morning. The feeling clears out after my walk/jog, though.
