Fun with Mum - Ideas please!

  • Not strictly weight-loss related, although I do want to keep that in mind, obviously.

Basically, at the end of the month I am going to visit my mum for just over a week and we want to do some really fun stuff. Money isn't really an issue - but what IS an issue is that all we usually do together is eat and drink. And I don't want to end up with that as what we "do". Because that isn't really "doing" anything except ruining my efforts.

    So already we plan to:

    > go shoe shopping
    > get our hair done
    > manicure/pedicure stuff maybe

What else is great for mums & daughters to do?

She is keen on doing a spa day away with massages and stuff, but it's so much money for something I think is quite boring.

We're in the UK, so try thinking broad ideas if poss. Thanks for any help and ideas guys!
  • It's a lovely time of year to visit stately homes and open gardens. Bit of a day out, gentle exercise, time for a chat, lunch out.

Where in the UK does your mum live?
  • North-East, not too far from Newcastle, but we'd be ok with driving a couple hours to go somewhere if it was a day out.
  • What about a day trip to a city/town neither of you have been to before? You can research ahead of time and find something that interests you there before you leave. My mom was just visiting for a week (I'm in Dorset) and we went to four different places in six days, lol. I had been to most of them but she hadn't!
  • These are some places I'd like to go to!

    Alnwick Castle and Garden?

    Lindisfarne?

    Hadrian's Wall?!

    Cragside?

    Hexham?

    Hexham Racecourse

    Beamish?

I like Freedomreins' idea. Whatever you do, have a great time!
  • Thanks for your replies guys!

I had totally forgotten about Beamish! And love the idea of visiting different cities. Will definitely put those on the list.

If anyone else has any fun ideas of fun thins for a mum and daughter to do that would be fab
