"silly" weightloss rituals/ rules that work for me
During this journey, ive realized that I have cultivated some slightly silly weightless rules/ rituals that have helped me through this.
1. A few times during the day, mostly the times when I used to be hungry for no reason, I fantasize about what it will be like to be thin, usually with a bottle of water in hand. I think it's really fun, and it also reignites my desire which in turn supports my determination.
2. I've decided that a ONE bite if anything is okay (I am very strict with my eating, and track EVERYTHING). However, the more fattening/ bad for you the thing, the smaller the bite, and I'm talking teeny tiny, people! I've learned that the second bite is where I get into trouble and keep on going, and the no bite makes me feel deprived and leads to an eventual binge. I end up feeling quite proud of myself, especially after resisting the temptation for that send bite, which would lead to a third, and a fourth...
Do you have any "silly" rules/ rituals? What are they?
I pee before I weigh in, I split up my dinner into two servings and leave half in the kitchen so i can go back for 'seconds', and i don't eat baked goods unless i made them (so I can count the calories, and so i don't get an easy fix).
I weigh myself first thing in the morning, right after I use the bathroom.
I carry a water bottle with me at all times.
I eat most of my meals off of salad plates to help with portion size.
Priscatip, I love the tip about splitting up your meal so you can have "seconds" I'm going to do that from now on!
My favorite thing to do on a Friday night is to really sit down and think about what I'm REALLY craving, think "cheat" food. Then I find a way to make it healthfully so I stay within my plan.
I weigh in naked or with just the undergarments as well, depending on the day.
I also don't eat off of plates anymore unless I'm eating with the family, which is twice a week for dinner. I eat out of a soup cup and two other dishes roughly the size of the soup cup.
I don't eat six little meals, I eat tons of meals. I don't even keep track, but they're super small.
If I go out to eat, I try to get a salad. I look for the salad least likely to contain a ton of empty calories and salt and then I ask for a box when they bring it to me and only eat half. If there are dinner rolls and I really want one I cut them in half.
First thing in the morning everyday I pour myself a cold drink of water in my HUGE cup that holds 800ml and don't allow myself to eat breakfast before that water is inside me.

Yep. I used to spritz lemon in it too, but now I'm usually always late for work so I just down the water in one go. Sometimes I'll drink two regular cups before I'm out the door. I eat breakfast at around 10 at work, I'm never hungry in the morning.
If I'm in a weighing craze where I feel like I need to track it every day, I take my scale with me to work, lock myself up in the bathroom, strip down and weigh in there. I'm the only woman in the office, sometimes I wonder if the boys are ever curious to know wtf I'm doing in the bathroom so long. They must have figured by now girls are from another species and they might as well stop wondering.

I try to poop before I weigh-in. And, I almost had a weigh-in specific shirt, but realized that that's just effin' silly and scratched that idea.
Hm, I guess that's it. I have more running rituals than specific weight loss ones. I tape my blisters and certain spots before a run. I ice my feet after a long run. etc. etc.
I am guilty of the same pleasure....well don't know if it's pleasure... I weigh myself every morning after I pee, and every night at 9pm when I think my dinner digested so I will have a ball park figure if I lost weight or gained weight that day... I also try to drink more water if I ate something I wasn't supposed to
I like to weigh myself twice in the morning, before and after I pee!
It may sound weird, but the first time it's like 'oohhh ' and then the second time it's like 'oohh! '
If I feel like I worked out hard and ate well that day, I treat myself by weighing in at night to see if I've made noticeable progress, though I know it often won't show until the next morning for me.
I like the suggestion of 'whenever I want to eat..' and thinking of how great it will be to be skinny! I think I'm going to try that, I'm struggling a bit because my family pushed a ton of chocolate onto my fiance and I and I've been indulging (but not binging thankfully).
I don't really have any "silly" rituals really just what most other people do.
I eat 3 normal sized meals and have 3 snacks throughout the day.
I also eat on a salad plate ( actually I've made my whole family do that) so that I don't over eat at dinner. I've actually noticed though that if we eat out or at someone else house and I use an actual dinner plate I'll probably eat to much and not realize it until it's to late...workin on the one!
I will eat up until 8:30 if I'm hungry and it will be something that fills me up and is healthy.
I weigh in twice a week (sunday/wed) or sometimes more depending on my mood. If my weigh in is good on Sunday then I allow myself to have a "cheat" day for that day only. And I make sure my portions are in check.
I try to work out 3-5 times a week.
ummm...I think that's about it for me. I'm working to make this a lifestyle change so all of this I want to keep up even after I've reached goal.
I just don't like to be inactive on any day. Like I take walks during lunch at work, and even on my "rest" days from exercise I go for a walk, whether its around the mall, around the block, or whatever. I also hate taking rest days, but I do it.
