What are your rewards?

  • Along your weight loss path have you set yourself up some rewards? Whether it be for losing weight or keeping on track with your work-outs, how do you treat yourself for doing so well?
  • I'll start... I have had massages, a pedicure, a day trip out of town, a new pair of jeans, a bracelet, and a new pair of heels...
  • I reward myself with things that will help me continue to do well.

Examples (from low to higher cost):
iTunes purchases to listen to during workouts
New spices and herbs and marinades to spice up meals without a lot of calories
    New workout clothes
    New exercise equipment/videos/etc.
New cooking equipment that supports healthy eating (kitchen scale, Misto sprayer, grill pan, nice sharp cooking knives for breaking down mountains of produce)
    Massages
    Heart rate monitor/iPods/gadgets

    You get the idea!
  • I also am a fan of massages/pedicures for rewards. Especially with massages, I feel that is a luxury I don't often allow myself, so it is an excellent reward. I've tried to do things like shopping or new clothes in the past, but I find that doesn't work for me since I will buy them anyway, even if I haven't "earned" them. I just like to shop too much, I guess
  • i reward myself with new music, manis/pedis, new clothes, and I just recently bought a watch for losing 65 lbs!

It helps if you make a list and write down things you want. I rewarded myself for every 5 lbs lost.
  • Pedicures, massages, clothing, a movie in the theater.

I also like to throw $1 into a small pail every time I work out as scheduled. I collect it there until I have enough money for something thats a "splurge" for me...such as a pair of shoes I would normally not spend so much $$$ on or a new purse, some lancome make up etc.

I used to reward myself with food...not such a good idea though
  • I bought myself some new makeup after my first 10 pounds. It was expensive, but so worth it. I started wearing makeup every day because it motivates me to keep lookin' hot!

When I get to 140, I already have a reward, as I kept the jeans I got for Christmas that were a tad too small, but I might get a cute top to go with them or something.

    For 130, shorts!

    For 120, new shoes.

Aaaand at my goal weight, I'm saving up money now and buying myself a netbook. Woot!

AWESOME IDEA! Now I just have to find a small pail...
  • When I started losing weight I broke the 100 lbs I had to lose into four 25 lb mini goals. At each goal I set up a reward, as follows:

1st 25 lbs lost ~ pair of TOMS shoes
2nd 25 lbs lost ~ new makeup & makeup brushes
3rd 25 lbs lost ~ set of hair rollers
    4th 25 lbs lost ~ designer purse

oooooh i can't WAIT for that last one!!
  • I buy new clothes or I go to the Lush store and get some nice pampering goodies.
  • Oooh! I love Lush! Their bubble bars make me happy. I miss having a bathtub! Haha. Has anyone else noticed that by saving rewards like this for when we reach mini goals, you save money? Because I would normally splurge randomly on cheaper versions of my rewards, but having a set time that I can buy it gives me time to save up and buy something of higher quality. Plus, I am not spending money going out to eat or buying junk food because I want that netbook. Yay!
  • im still new in the process but i plan on taking the money that i would normally spend on pop everyday ( i'm a junkie! but i quit a few days ago lol) and put it in my piggy bank. then once i reach a goal im going to splurge on something nice!

im thinking of making mini goals like some other people have. but i know for sure that once i reach my goal weight im buying myself a new purse!
  • My first big mini-goal, I bought myself a new perfume. I love it because the beautiful bottle sits in my bathroom and reminds me every day of the first steps I took on my journey. Plus I spritz it on when I feel like adding a little more umph and it makes me just a little more confident.

I justify my shopping by "allocating" it towards other mini goals along the way, but they just don't have the lasting mental association that the first one does.

My last big mini goal is about 11 lbs away and I'm thinking about getting a cute little digital camera to take with me on vacation. I want one of the new ones with the LCD on the front and the back so it makes it easier to take pics without asking a passerby. Plus it will remind me to never be afraid of the camera again.
