Avoiding Temption When it's staring you in the face?

And free? haha. For some reason that makes it harder for me.

Basically, my roomie ordered pizza and has it laying out on the kitchen table. It's from my fav pizza place in town to...yum. And I LOVE pizza (who doesn't really?). And she was like, feel free to have some....I can smell it. I'm being really good but I just want to scream at her to eat it (it's a large soo that probably won't happen as she's like a size 00 and eats one slice per sitting) or do something just get it out sight/smell!

Now that I'm back on the bandwagon it's amazing to me how much unhealthy free food is being thrown my way. Usually pizza but other stuff too. Professors ordering it in for class....talks where they offer food to get people to go, etc. It's so frustrating!

At the same time I wonder how all these other people I see eating this crap every single day (literally) are still so freaking skinny? And why can't I be like that (aka able to eat what I want and not gain)?

How do I avoid temptation when it's all around me? Carrots don't cut it when I'm smelling pizza. I'm sorry, they just don't!

I say, make your own healthy version for half the calories!! Do you have a toaster oven, some healthy wraps, a low cal tomato sauce and some low fat shredded cheese? And you can throw onions and peppers and broccoli on it, as well! It'll can be done in a matter of minutes, and it will be delicious!

You can avoid the temptation!!! Just don't even give yourself the thought!

My roommate had a great big bowl of vanilla/chocolate ice cream right in front of me. I try to ignore the ice cream carton in the refrigerator, but this was too much. I stuck to my guns and will have a sugerless fudge bar later this evening.

I also like to buy the lean cuisine pizzas in the event that I'm already drooling and need something that requires almost zero thought process! ;) It's not easy, but if you stay away, once the pizza is gone and it hasn't passed your lips, you'll feel victorious! On the flip side, if you give in and eat it, ask yourself if you'll be happy once it's gone. Another strategy would be to allow yourself one slice, if you think you can handle it. I, personally, cannot, but some people can do that and calculate it with their calories for the day and still make it work. I wish you lots of willpower and self restraint.

It would be very difficult for me as well.. the smell is what would have set me off. But like suggested above making your own pizza or even the lean cuisine ones would help a little bit. Wouldn't be the same, BUT you would be staying on track and getting the pizza taste. Be strong!

At first I missed it too. It KILLED me when my husband would have pizza on a weekend, and I had to eat something else. For a while I'd figure in a couple of slices into my day, but eventually realized it's just not WORTH it.

I mean, why would I want two or three pieces of pizza that wouldn't come NEAR filling me up when I could have something else that's healthy, wouldn't make me feel guilty for eating it and makes me full?

It's happened now with most things he gets sometimes, fast-food wise. One of my FAVORITE things of all-time used to be chicken tenders from just about anywhere - you know dipped in flour and deep fried? Now the grease is just...gross. Sometimes I do crave fried food, but usually not anymore.

Last night he had a chicken tender dinner with fries and okra (he saved calories ALL DAY to afford it on his diet - somewhere around 1,450 calories). I made my homemade chicken sandwich with oven-baked fries and sauteed squash and green beans. I was STUFFED for under 700 calories.

Last night my bf and I were supposed to order in pizza..but at the last minute I decided that I just did NOT want those extra calories in me so I forced him to go to Baja Fresh where I got salad (no dressing), some chips, and tortilla soup, which is probably the healthiest thing on their menu. I didnt go over my cal intake for the day and I felt MUCH better not eating that pizza.

Thanks ladies! I managed to stay strong and avoided the kitchen like the plague. Lol. It's in the fridge now but at least I can't smell it and today went grocery shopping and bought some lean cuisine pizza's. I like the idea of making my own but couldn't find a low cal spagehetti sauce...any suggestions?

I have to say you guys really inspire me though. I was reading posts and looking at how much weight everyone on here has lost-and just thought to myself: I can do that too! lol. So thanks for the support and inspiration :) I really needed it.
