Thanks tuende and kirjava!!! :-) I weighed in again today just to be sure it wasn't a fluke, and the scale said 160! I hope this IS all of our week!! You all's support has made this infinitely easier.

Tuende, I'm sorry you're feeling sick. I second the tea, and add that you need to care for yourself first. Don't stress about missing workouts :-) as for the girl's night, split a bottle of red wine with a friend! It's healthy, right? ;-)

welcome zephyr and paja! Good luck with getting out of these dreaded 160's!!!!

Last night was an uber splurge for me. I had a cheeseburger and fries for dinner at a famous diner/bar in the area. I kept my calories super low leading up to it (360 for lunch! Lol) and it tasted soooo good! It's nice to feel like a splurge here and there won't hurt :-)

stargzr 03-09-2010 02:28 PM

tuende - You poor thing! Don't get sick!!! If I feel like I might get sick I start taking cough medicine. Also, brush your teeth often and gargle with warm salt water (as salty as you can stand) after every brushing. Don't forget to drink your water too! ;) When I get sick, it's *always* a throat thing, boo!

fashin - Kinda funny that we both ended up doing that the same weekend. I hope it recharges our weight loss batteries (so to speak)!!!

kirjava - This week will *definitely* be a better week, I am convinced of it!!

nicole - YAY for the loss! You're going to beat us all into the 150s! ;) How exciting! Keep up your momentum!

paja - WELCOME!! Hope your stay is short and you make your goal for the wedding!

Hubby is sick with some random cold thing so I started popping vitamin C yesterday. Hope I don't catch it. I was super OP yesterday and am feeling very good about today!
150s, here we all come!!! WOOT!

Kirjava 03-09-2010 05:06 PM

Way to go Nicole! You're so close to the 150s! Maybe having a calorie splurge helped you out. I've heard that sometimes a larger meal can kick-start your metabolism.

stargzr, I hope you don't catch your husband's cold!

I've decided that I won't go to the gym to tone this week. I just want to remove one more factor that could be contributing to water retention or burning too many calories for what I'm eating. I know that in November I totally stalled for a week and had three blah weeks in a row (0.5-0.8... not horrible, but not great), and when I stopped exercising but kept my diet exactly the same, I started losing larger numbers again. I'm not sure what it is, but exercise often seems to be a factor in messing up my losses.

I want to be toned, but I also don't want to mess too horribly with my diet and use trial and error to find my proper calorie level. I am getting some resistance bands and some rowing tubing (it hooks over my feet and has a handle so I can use it kind of like a rowing machine for the upper body only) I can use at home, but maybe at the gym I do too much.

I am ready to kick the 160s in the butt to tell it to get the heck out of my life!

OMG. I am way late but I REALLY need this thread. REALLY.

I have been stuck in the 160's since 2006. No joke. I lost 50 pounds in 10 months and ended up around 165 and have been stuck every since. Sometimes I gain 10 pounds and then lose again no problem and then I get stuck again. It never ends, I have been wanting to see 159 for 3 years.

I still can't seem to get the scale to move, but dammit it will and I need you ladies to help me! I am around 163 right now.

I hope I can keep up with you all, that is one of my biggest problems with this site - is that I just can't keep up with everyone! I mean keep up with the number of posts, and how must people write - It seems like I just run out of time int he day to read it all.

Kirjava 03-09-2010 08:19 PM

Welcome, sotypical! 50 pounds in 10 months is incredible, but how frustrating it must be not to be able to break from this 160s plateau! I think I will stop whining about being stuck in here for almost two months.

I've found this thread very helpful for support, diet, and exercise ideas. I hope you can find it helpful as well! I'd love to see you join as as we cross over into the 150s thread!

tuende 03-09-2010 08:58 PM

Oh wonderful...
I just typed a whole reply and it disappeared. Seems to fit in with the kinds of days I've been having. Today I ran my thigh right into the corner of a desk and later I spilled a mug of hot milk all over myself. Really? Am I really that clumsy? I guess it's just going to be one of those weeks...
I don't really have the energy to retype everything, so I'll just say thanks for all the wonderful advice and welcome to sotypical!
I think I need a nap.

stargzr 03-10-2010 09:28 AM

kirjava - I noticed that with myself too! I can do cardio and still lose, but when I add strength training it kinda stalls. I found that out last year sometime and since then only did cardio... it was just recently I added in some strength training. I hope it'll be a good experiment for you!

sotypical - You WILL get outta the 160s and you're coming with us to the 150s! ;)

tuende - hehe... not to laugh at your misfortune, but it just sounds like things I would do, lol. I have seriously run into the wall corner (like going around a corner and cutting it too close) so hard I've bruised myself! I hope today is better for you. :)

Ugh, I had a slip-up yesterday... I didn't want to tell, but I feel like I have to tell you ladies and be honest. I mentioned hubby was sick, well he felt bad enough to go home early yesterday. Since we carpooled, I had to go too. No biggie I figured, I'll just run at home and watch movies the rest of the day. Well, it was freezing and windy at home so that was out... I did 30ds instead. It was good! Then I went to the grocery store. Long story short I ate a bunch of different stuff than normal yesterday. I got hubby whatever he wanted, then found it difficult to not try some of it. (Though I did stay under calories, so that's good.) Oh well! Today is a new day and I'm back OP! I'm going to push very hard the rest of the week, I can't wait to say goodbye to the 160s!

Sunday is our day ladies!!! We will all see the 150s!

tuende 03-10-2010 04:59 PM

Yeah stargzr, I do that kind of crap all the time too. I also bruise really easily, so I constantly have bruises on my legs from running into things (usually the end of my bed)! Oh well...
I am killing time because I am trying to go for a run and my iPod decided to freak out so I'm hoping that wiping it out and putting everything back on will fix it. My next idea: death by hammer.
Hoping everyone else is have a nice, non-violent day :)!

Kirjava 03-10-2010 06:55 PM

Sorry for your iPod issues and bumps, spills, and bruises, tuende!

I'm glad to hear it's not just my body being weird, stargzr! I think when I was first beginning, exercise helped me to lose, but after a while it was just slowing me down. My biggest struggle has always been with food, so I think focusing on that alone is better for me for now. I think I might wait until I hit my goal and go into maintenance before I do heavy exercise again.

stargzr, it's too bad you ended up going a little off plan, but you stayed in your calories and worked out, so it probably won't have a lasting effect!

I had a fantastic day! On three separate occasions, I had three of my coworkers tell me I looked really good and that I'd lost a lot of weight. I'm not sure what it was about today that made them really take notice, but it felt awesome!

This has got to be our week!

tuende 03-10-2010 11:02 PM

Thanks Kirjava! That's great that people are taking notice of your awesomeness! Bet that's a good boost of motivation.

And good news: my iPod sorted itself out, and I managed not to run into anything or spill anything all over myself today! So...good day.

stargzr 03-11-2010 10:51 AM

tuende - :woohoo: on not running into anything! ;) Glad you got your ipod sorted out too. I hate when mine acts up!

kirjava - Hooray for compliments!!! What a boost, huh?

I threw away cake last night... :( I was sad to see it go because it was good, but if I really want this I need to work for it. By suggestions from a thread I lurked in, I'm going to start back at square one. Go back to planning my dinners (the only meal I have at home and can be vastly different every day) beforehand so I already know how many calories I'm consuming. I'm so tired of this fluctuation junk and I'm ready to drop these last 10 pounds. Besides, if I want to be ready for the summer when it gets here, I need to do this now! No more waiting for me!
This is OUR week ladies! Let's do this! :kickbutt:

sotypical 03-11-2010 11:24 AM

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Kirjava - sometimes I wonder if exercise is holding me back or if I am not exercising enough. I defiantly have problems with food right now and need to work on that and I also find when I exercise I just want to eat. haha Still not totally sure what I am doing, what week I exercise and the next I don't - doesn't really matter, I don't lost either way.

stargzr - Good job on throwing out the cake. I have a cake sitting on the counter that I made that really should be throwing out too. Dinner is usually where I struggle too. But I also enjoy planning - my biggest problems are weekends - so usually Thursdays I go through some of my favourite sites and pick out fun weekend meals, like home made chicken strips or lasagna - stuff like that.

One thing I miss from before when I was really active on this site is the planning threads... whatever happened to all those?

Kirjava 03-11-2010 01:03 PM

Seriously, I must have lost this week, because once again one of my coworkers mentioned how much weight I've lost! I'm wearing a completely different outfit from yesterday, so it can't be that it's just the clothes.

Also, this was the first time I've worn these pants right out of the wash and been able to do them up with room to spare. I am dying for Saturday's weigh-in!

Way to go throwing out the cake, stargzr! I don't know if I could do that... I'd be more likely to wolf it down in one sitting and say, "There! Now at least it's not there to tempt me anymore!" Good idea to go back to planning meals. Now that I know how important it is to plan, I don't think I could go back to just winging it.

sotypical, I have lost at least 85% of the weight I've lost on diet alone. I don't think you have to exercise to lose weight. Of course, exercise is good for a lot of different reasons than just getting slimmer. That said, I'll pass for now until I'm ready to maintain. Best of luck finding what works for you!

Sorry, I don't know about the planning threads. Does anyone else?

sotypical 03-11-2010 02:34 PM

Kirjava - everyone tells me all the time how great I look and how much weight I am losing. Get this, I haven't lost weight in almost 6 months! Go figure.

The 50 pounds I lost originally was defiantly a huge combo of exercise and diet.

To top it off the boyfriend told me yesterday that we are going to go to mexico in 3 weeks! 3 WEEKS! I have to at least be out of the 160's by then. So something has to change I guess. Might skip the pool tonight and just do some dvds or something - the pool doesn't seem to be working. One would think a month and a half of swimming for 90+ minutes 2-3 times a week would help a person lose some weight.

As far as the planning threads - it was just a place where people posted what they were eating/going to eat for the day - week. There used to be a lot of them, all over the bored. But can't find any now.

jkinboston89 03-11-2010 03:07 PM

Hello everyone! I'm new to the 160s. Excited to be on this thread. Looks like a lot of you are on the way out! Congrats to you guys.

I'm happy to be in the 160's but I can't WAIT to leave. When I get to the 150s it'll mark 100 pounds lost (at 155), and I might end up somewhere are the low 150s high 140s for goal so it's really exciting

Good luck to everyone!! :)
