I love tea! Silly as it may sound, my favorite kind is Lipton brand... just regular tea. My grandma-in-law is from Scotland, so I've learned to love hot tea! :D

Thanks everyone! We went to Teavana and got some yummy varieties and a pot. Hubs drinks a lot when he has time so it was a great purchase for us. :) I have been looking into flavors and think the Oolong variety is the best for me.

I LOVE tea! I usually make a thermos of hot tea in the morning and drink it throughout the day. Today is peppermint! Usually I drink it straight without sweetner or milk or anything. But with this cold I've been putting honey in it (high in calories I know, but does wonders for the throat!). There's a loose leaf tea shop I love not too far from me that has a "make your own tea bar" where you can mix various flavors and find your own favorite! I usually make an orange vanilla raspberry black tea. Oh man it's good! I don't specifically drink it for the antioxidant qualities, I just love drinking hot liquids and there is only so much hot cocoa allowed in the diet!

I drink almost a whole pitcher of iced green tea everyday (almost)! Sweetened with Stevia.

My favorite is Earl Grey sweetened with Splenda. :)

tazo zen tea is my absolutely favorite. i've been drinking it for years!!! its a green tea but doesn't have that bitter tea taste that most green teas have

I am enjoying reading all of these posts. I have something else to add. I think the ritual of tea time, just sitting down to enjoy a hot cup of tea and perhaps a piece of fruit or a healthy snack can really make your cravings for food feel more satisfied.

Green tea usually only gets bitter if you use water that is too hot ;)

Celestial Seasonings has green tea that is cut with white tea, so the flavor isn't as strong. I tend to drink that, or green tea mixed with lemon, mango or peach. The additional fruit makes it a little sweeter, and I don't use any kind of sweetener or milk with mine, I like it straight. :)

Really? Good to know. I have also heard that if you let certain teas steep too long it causes it to be bitter as well?

Man I agree. Just taking the time for you and truly enjoy the flavors of the tea and the food.

The flavors I bought were Strawberry Lemonade herbal, a passion fruit oolong, and wild orange blossom herbal.. MMM

I drink tea a lot especially in the winter time, I cant stand drinking cold water when its freezing so most times I replace it with green tea, no sugar or anything added to it. I usually drink chai tea!

I LOVE tea!
Of course, it doesn't replace my morning cup of coffee with skim milk, but I find Green Tea (I drink it naked, with no sugar or anything!) is a great pick me up in the afternoon.
I'll also drink chamomile with a bit of honey if I'm not feeling well or it's the TOM.
But I did try something new this weekend with tea and it was fantastic, especially for the winter! I made Oat tea by boiling oats with a cinnamon stick, honey & a bit of vanilla. I got the recipe from Tosca Reno's Eat-Clean Cookbook (I'm trying to eat clean instead of calorie counting for the first 2 months of the year to see if it makes a difference).
It was AMAZING! It was so tasty and actually filled me up! :)
I definitely recommend trying something a bit different and boiling some different flavors, just strain the ingredients and voila, homemade tea!

I drink tea because I love it, and it just happens to have health benefits. My favorite is a vanilla almond tea by Bigelow. It is really good, but I haven't been able to find it in a while...maybe they stopped making it. The ritual of having a cup of hot tea can be soothing in itself!

Mikan 01-18-2010 09:07 PM

Also, Instead of cans of soda I also bulk up on cans of unsweetened green tea & oolong from my local Japanese market when they go on sale. It was a little pricey at 50 cents a can, but hey, it saves me from buying a sugary, bad for you drink or paying way overboard prices for a bottle of water. (vending machines here sale drinks at 1.50 a pop)
