Calorie Shifting?

  • So right now I eat between 1100-1200 calories a day. The first week was great! I lost 4.5 lbs. But this past week I only lost one, even though I was still working out everyday. I was thinking that maybe my body is getting too used to this amount of calories? I've seen a few people on here who have had success with changing up their calories every day, but I have no idea where to start ha! Anyone whose tried it, I would love your input!
  • its only been one week. You dont have very much weight to lose(relatively) 1 pound a week is very reasonable.
Im not suggesting you DONT try calorie cycling, im only poiting out that youve lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks, so you are doing something right.
  • I agree w/ mkroyer, you won't necessarily see high numbers every week even if you're doing everything right. But I do recommend calorie cycling, I used the calorie calculator at freedieting.com. It gives you a calorie schedule for the week with numbers for each day - extreme, normal loss, and maintenance cals. I stick to the "normal loss" numbers on most days, and occasionally use the extreme and maint numbers just to shake it up a bit.
  • 5 pounds is great for 2 weeks! You're about my height and weight, and I know most days my body just wants more calories than that. Days I'm really hungry or I've worked out i tend to eat between 1400 and 1500 calories. Days I'm not so hungry I eat between 1200 and 1300. I try never to go under 1100 or over 1800. Of course, If I've done some mind boggling exercise, the high number will go up.
You seem on a good track. Like mkroyer said, 1 pound is about average. Play around with your intake, but you're at a good start.
