Default Today is the first day...

I'm trying to get really serious about this. I just hope the motivation I have now sticks. I'm doing South Beach, because I have done it before and it was successful...until I stopped following the program, obviously.

I've done well with SB so far, and I also spent about 20 minutes using the Wii Fit. SO much more intense then I thought it would be! I was actually sweating! I'm going to get on the treadmill later, as well. I just moved and hope to get a job soon, but I figure I should take advantage of the extra time I have now and get into the habit of exercising 6 days a week!

My biggest fear is that I'll do well for a few days, then completely fall off the wagon. It's happened before.

i know how you feel-just starting out as well! but what i have learned is that it takes more than motivation-you have to commit yourself to this-each morning when you wake up-make an effort-because if you do nothing, thats what you'll get so i hope this site helps give you a good kick in the pants because thats what its done for me remember we're all in this together!

Mave, I know exactly how you feel. Something that's kept me going this time is just taking it one day at a time! I don't say "oh, I won't work out tonight, I'll do it tomorrow" I do it TONIGHT because you never know what tomorrow will bring. Just pace yourself, and don't get upset if you make a minor slip. Someone once told me weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint.

And one of the best pieces of advice ever given to me was to believe in yourself. Its kind of silly, but most of my work out time is spent telling myself YOU CAN DO IT or YOU'RE DOING GREAT. In my head of course, otherwise they might call the crazy police on me. But it really really helps.
Good luck!

Good luck! We all started at one point. I think i seriously started 3 months ago. I still have days that I slip up and over eat but I just have to tell myself that I already did it and whats done is done and move on. WE can do this!!! You just have to stay positive even when things aren't going the way you want them to. 3 months ago I never thought I would finish a 30 mile bike ride, but I did and i couldn't be more proud of myself, and you will be too once you start seeing progress.

I'm hoping exercise will be easier for me, considering how much I'm enjoying Wii Fit. It's not hardcore cardio, but it's getting me moving. Rather than making me tired, I'm looking forward to jogging tonight. I'm hoping that having that variation will improve my attitude towards exercise. Also, as an "all-or-nothing" type of girl, enjoying exercise more will get me in the right frame of mind for eating healthier, too.

Thanks for your words of support, I didn't have this forum last time I tried, either! I'm sure I'll be coming back asking for someone to talk me into doing what I should.
