Default Why did my scale have to die NOW????

Arg, I'm sooo close to ONEderland, I can't believe it . However, my old trusty scale decided to have a meltdown, so I had to buy a new one. Now it's telling me I'm 2-3 pounds heavier, and I can't tell if I really am or if it's just the scale.

Here's the deal, in the last week:
Old scale (naked, no food) said I'm about 202-201.6
Doctors (with clothes on and food in my belly) said I was 205
New scale (naked, no food) says I'm 203-205.

Ahh! Why~!! I might be hitting ONEderland and not even know it...

How do you guys make up for a new scale being different than the old one? I'm considering returning it for a different model.

thats a tricky one. Was it quite a cheap scale that you bought? Im sick of getting different numbers each time so im thinking of investing in a more expensive scale for the sake of my mental health apparently there are scales that are consistent even if you step on and off every 10 seconds! who woulda thunk it >.<

What scale did you buy? My new scale that I got is a healthometer or something like that. It actually weighed me 5 lbs smaller than my old one! I couldn't believe it. It also keeps track of my goal weight, hydration and body fat. The body fat is weird though because when I was 220, it said I was about 39% now at 186, it is around 37%...I thought it would've went way down. Oh well, I still like it better than my old one!

That really sucks that it is weighing you more than your old one. Maybe your old one wasn't reading right? Usually the new ones are more accurate, or at least I always thought so...

I say just stick with it. If it's measuring you 3 lbs heavier... in a couple weeks or a week or whatever when you hit onederland on the new scale you will know WITHOUT A DOUBT you are in onderland on EVERY scale! No need to panic you can do it.

It's a cheap-o digital ($20) Taylor brand from Target. I guess I should just go with it, but it's so discouraging. It's like your mom telling you christmas is going to be a week later!

I am paranoid about scales being wrong - I regularly take a ten pound dumbbell and weigh it to make sure the scale is giving the correct reading.

Right now I don't own a scale, and only weigh at the gym, with a Dr.'s Office type of scale. I'm looking into buying a scale of my own since I'm moving into my own apartment, and I would love any suggestions on what scales are really good. Digital? Body fat calculators? There are so many different choices I'm overwhelmed! What do others use?

My scale
That is the one I currently use. I am very happy with it. I love how it measures in .2 increments so it shows even small losses! (AND small gains, but they're not so bad when it is just .2 or so!! )

That's tricky! My home scale always says I'm about 2lbs heavier than the scale at weight watchers does. So, naturally I go by the scale at WW!

Luvja, you just reminded me!
My scale and the scale at my WW weigh me the same. The dr's office is about the same too.

That scale looks pretty sweet! I love all the extra measurements that it does, and it's way less expensive than most of the similar ones I've seen... I might end up getting it!

Thanks for the tip! Now I definately know the scale is wrong! It's reading a 8 pound weight as 9-10 pounds, and I'm positive that this weight is 8lbs! Once it didn't even notice that I was holding it, and gave me the same weight for holding it or not! Good grief.

I just got the same scale as aangel about 3 weeks ago and I LOVE it. It is very consistent and sturdy. I also love the .2 increments.

I just ordered the scale. Two recommendations were enough for me! I am so so so excited to get it. Is that weird? I am very curious about what my body fat percentage, etc. is. I wish I would have known what it was before, because I bet there is a big change! Thanks so much to all of you for the tips.
