Oh. My. Gosh!!!! I am in. I just tried the test. t first I was like "yeah, that's right" cuz I did 7 easy, then I realized that I wasn't dipping down enough. So when I lower myself all the way to the ground I have to release all weight and start the push-up over. (does that make sense?) Basically I am WAY weaker than I realized, and I will definitely be doing this challenge. I think I will start out doing the knee form pushups though. Lol...I hate the idea too but whatever helps me get stronger...

Hi Everyone - I am in too, however I will be doing the alternative pushup on my knees for a while - too weak and too fat for the military style just yet. I will be starting tomorrow. My arms are dead from my workout yesterday. I will be working on the situp challenge as well.

Thanks for the link.

Ok - Started the pushups today - and took the initial situps - I will start the situp challenge on Monday - and continue pushups on Monday too.

Pushups: on my knees - I maxed out at 15 - I hate doing sissy pushups.

Okay-- I've seen this before but I've never actually thought about doing it. But hey, it's worth a try! I'm doing the 30DS and when it comes to push ups I just struggle so much, that in the end it doesn't even feel I did one with correct form.

So here I go, let's give this challenge a shot! :D

Hey ladies. Though this is my second week I am repeating Week 1 because I didn't feel like I mastered it the first time. So here we go again....This time surprisingly I breezed right through Day 1. I guess I am getting stronger all ready.

How is everyone else doing so far?

aangel22 03-30-2009 08:28 PM

Started week two, still on column one. Still can't do a real push-up. I don't know why I thought I would make that much of a change in 3 days! Really sucks that I'm stuck on "sissy push-ups" aka knee push-ups. I am able to get down further though...so I guess that is an accomplishment. ;) I hope that I will be able to do a real push-up soon though! I feel like such a loser doing the alternative... :(

**When I was 17 and about 165 lbs, I was able to do about 50 REAL push-ups. Maybe I am doing so poorly because of the extra weight. I hope as I'm losing, this will get easier too!

CakeBatter 03-30-2009 09:47 PM

aangel if you are getting down lower then that is an accomplishment. I don;t like the alternative and I feel ya, but you are not a loser, instead you are working on strengthening your upper body to accomplish them military style. Maybe repeat week 1 until you can do them military style. I repeated week one too but when I got the "max" set I did 8 instead of the minimum 5 so that is an accomplishment. We ROCK!!

Edit: I did the initial sit-up test and I SUCK. I managed 15 but only 10 that were good form. So I started in the first column last night. Well here's to a much stronger core!

jahjah1223 03-30-2009 09:56 PM

8 push-ups!

debbies 03-30-2009 10:33 PM

Day 1 officially started. I completed both the situps and the pushups challenges. Still on my knees for the pushups, but I am doing surprisingly well with the crunches. I started on week 3 - woohoo : )

Zephra 03-31-2009 12:59 AM

are you guys doing it consecutive days or leaving a day of rest in between? Part of me is too impatient to only do it every other day, but if it gets more results and less injury...

Saramommy 03-31-2009 01:23 AM

Hi everyone! I'm going to start this challenge tomorrow. I might even try the 200 push up challenge as well! :D

tinycities 03-31-2009 05:31 AM

I began the 100 Push Up Challenge yesterday, and I'm going to start on the 200 Sit Up Challenge today! I'm posting in this thread to remind myself to do it when I get back from university later.

As I said on the other page, when I did the initial test on the Push Up Challange, I could just manage one. Just one! When I did it yesterday, I did four! Maybe they weren't "perfect form", but I know I felt more able than I did last week. It just shows how responsive muscles are, if they are used!

Do you think it's a good idea to do the Push Up and Sit Up Challenges on different days? I had intended to do them on the same day, but thought it might be a good idea to spread them out. I don't know if it matters or not!

CakeBatter 03-31-2009 08:12 AM

Personaly I do the sit-up challenge and the push-up challenge on the same days. I don't believe I am being overworked because I am not focusing on the same muscles. I do them on MWF and then my day of rest are just that. Of course I still do my regular cardio and what not but at least I don't have to worry about my challenges!

lixximajig 03-31-2009 09:43 AM

Just did the initial test. I managed to do the normal push up, but only halfway down, not all the way chest nearly to the floor sort of push up, I wonder if that counts?

I'm ranking 2, with 12 initial push ups. Going to attempt day 1 tomorrow! :D

icandoallthings6613 03-31-2009 01:20 PM

I did week 1, day 2 yesterday, and managed 3,4,2,3,5. CakeBatter, I may do what you've done and repeat week one when I get to the end of it! That seems pretty sensible, since week 1 is still really hard for me, even if I can just barely eek them out...
