I'm not 20-something, either, but I'm thinking about starting this challenge as well, but not sure if I'm physically ready yet. I could do 60 pushups in 4 sets of 15 back in January, but after some surgery at the end of the month I can now do 20-24 (two sets of 10-12 with a small rest in the middle). I'm going to watch this thread and see how you guys are doing, might try joining up in the next couple of weeks if my chest muscles still feel good.

Good luck everyone!

ETA- ooo, just saw the situp one. That one I can start right away! I did 64 before I died off last time I exercised (been doing my own informal program for a while now, started out able to do 5...) so I guess I start in week 3.

Shannon : If you are not sure if you are ready to begin then you can just do column one and go from there. I hope you join.

I'm up for this challenge!

My arms are suuuper weak and so is my core!
I did a grand total of 4 push-ups (and nearly died) and about 29 sit ups... :/

i'll do push up and sit-up challenge! Starting monday- MWF!

Good Luck ladies

I'm in for the push-up and sit-up challenge. I used to be able to do a lot of real push-ups and sit-ups when I was 17 and going through boot camp. I would love to get my body back into the shape I was in. I am really glad you brought this site up, I was wondering how to get myself into doing well again.

*Just noticed we aren't going to be doing real old-fashioned sit-ups, which is fine. Apparently they are pretty bad for your back...I believe that. I just hope I am doing the crunch up far enough.
For the push-ups, I'm starting on column one because I just really suck at it right now. It is pretty hard to lift almost 193 lbs! Also, I am just doing knee push-ups...for now! Sit-ups, I'm doing column two. Like I said, hopefully I am doing them good enough...

So I did Week 1, Day 1 today, on level 1.
Did 2, 3, 2, 2, and the on the max set I managed 7.

I didn't even think of that... That is a great idea! Thanks!

I am also not a 20-something anymore but I really need to join this challenge! I am having abdominal surgery in three months and I really need to lose some weight and tone up my muscles. I plan to follow both the push-up and sit-up challenges. I will test myself this weekend to see where I am as a starting point (like I'll be anywhere but column one  ) I go to the gym MWF and do the treadmill at home on TThSa so I will add the push-ups and sit-ups to my at home routine.

Thanks for pointing this out and starting this thread!!

hey ladies I am all pumped for day3 Wk 1 for PU and W1D1 for SU!!! YAY

Icandoallthings - WTG for 7 ....heck yea!

tinycities 03-27-2009 12:15 PM

I would really like to be part of this challenge, and I too would like to do the One Hundred Push-Ups as well as the Two Hundred Sit-Ups!

However, to my absolute horror, I just attempted the "initial test" and found I could just about manage ONE push-up! And I didn't even dip very low down, so it's one bad push-up. I really want to do this plan properly and I'd prefer not to do the "alternative forms" they suggested... do you think if I just stick with Week 1, I'll eventually improve?! Agh!

CakeBatter 03-27-2009 12:17 PM

Yes YOU TOTALLY WILL! I feel ya on the "alternatives", IDL them either. Just keep doing week one until you are "good" push-ups and then move on. Push-up Patrol is not standing over you anyway...U GOT THIS!

tinycities 03-27-2009 12:28 PM

Yay! Thank you for the encouragement, hehe! It's good to know that it's possible to improve when you start out really bad! I am DETERMINED to do this!

Blcarter84 03-27-2009 12:49 PM

Ok so ladies I am totally in with you! I just did the initial test and did 13! too bad my arms feel like jello now! Darnit

jahjah1223 03-27-2009 01:02 PM

I can do 7 man push-ups now! yay!

brooksrm 03-27-2009 05:15 PM

I've had my eye on 100 pushups for a long time but with 30DS and C25K going on right now it's just too many different programs with weeks and days for me right now. One more week of 30DS and then I'll do this :)

CakeBatter 03-27-2009 08:43 PM

Okay ladies...I just finished Day 3. OMG! Anyways it was something like 8, 10, 8, 8 and 10. My arms are to weak to do that many. Sooooo I dropped to column 1. Next I will repeat Week 1 but cloumn 2. How is everyone else doing. I start the sit up challenge on monday. My arms really hurt!!
